Bree Patterson Hometown: Liberty, Missouri | Degree Program: Theatre Performance The profession-based experiences Bree had in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts landed her a week on Broadway in New York City through an Open Jar Institute scholarship. She attended the week-long Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Des Moines, Iowa. The festival attracts theatre programs from the region to attend workshops, technical design expos and competitions, including an opportunity to experience life on Broadway through singing, dance and acting. Bree worked with Kat Bilbo, assistant professor of theatre, twice a week to prepare for the festival. "Kat coached and encouraged us to perform in front of other people. This is something I was scared to do, particularly when it came to singing. This experience

Korbin earned a fully-funded seat in a prestigious Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing and credits that opportunity to the mentors and experiences he found at Northwest. Using the skills he learned in a publication skills course and his work with the Green Tower Press, Korbin published a book of poems and created a literary magazine.
“I discovered my love of designing books and type-setting,
and so I was able to take what I learned from publication skills and Green Tower Press and put into work my own collection of poems and photography. They encouraged my creativity and art, and I’m always going to be grateful for that.”

School of Agricultural Sciences The School of Agricultural Sciences offers programs that use an interdisciplinary approach, enhance critical thinking and problem solving, work with usable and sustainable technologies and integrate theory and application through profession-based learning. “When the Bearcats went on to win their national title for basketball, we got to film the regional tournament. Hometown: Kansas City, Missouri | Degree Program: Computer Science Ben’s first internships with Cerner were focused on writing code for the frontend healthcare software that it provides to hospitals and clients around the world. His more recent internships with the company were focused on advanced work, such as backend development, security enhancements, mobile testing and intern management.
With the help of extracurricular activities and the encouragement of my advisors, Northwest has definitely pushed me to become a better leader. Each internship gave Ben the opportunity to develop his skillset and expand his network. Last summer, he served as an intern manager and led a small team. NORTHWEST

He played a role in chartering the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity and was active in the Minority Men’s Organization. He also worked for Auxiliary Services as a student manager in the J.W.
