Northwest offers an honors program where students can conduct research alongside a professor while taking two to three honors classes per trimester and living in housing designated for honors students.

Comedians have included Bo Burnham, Jeff Dunham and Steve-O. Student talent is showcased throughout the year in vocal, instrumental and theatrical performances as well as at art gallery exhibits.

Green campus
Last year, alternative fuels generated 47% of campus-wide utility needs. On-campus recycling includes aluminum, plastic, paper and glass containers. Recycled glass is turned into sand that is used around campus. Recycled paper is processed into pellets for fueling campus. Northwest is the Missouri Arboretum and home to more than 1,300 trees.
