How do you receive your bill? • First bill of semester is mailed to student’s permanent address and emailed to student email account • Subsequent bills are only emailed to student • Bills can be sent to two additional email addresses
Billing
When are bills due? • First bill arrives at the end of July • Subsequent bills emailed at the end of each month • To avoid late fees and finance charges, payment is due by the 15th of the following month
Payment Expectations • Paying your bill • Online and in person options listed on page 3 • If paying by check or mailing payment to Cashiering Office, include student’s 919# • Payment plans • 3 or 4 payment options • Enrollment by August 14th
2 Types of Authorized Users • Directions to become both types of authorized user are on page 2 of “Money Does Matter” • Monthly emailed bills and online account/payment center access • CatPAWS account to access grades, financial aid information, and ability to retrieve information from campus offices
Have you completed your FAFSA? • Opens October 1 for 2020-2021 and subsequent academic years. Bearcat Tip: Add this date in your phone • If you get chosen for verification, complete documents as quickly as possible
Your Financial Aid Award
• Loans • Subsidized – does not accrue interest until graduation • Unsubsidized – interest begins accruing immediately • Parent Plus • If parents don’t qualify, students may be eligible for additional aid
• Pell Grants • Need based depending on EFC • Doesn’t need to be paid back
• Work Study • Students must apply for positions • Monthly paychecks • Not considered earned income on the FAFSA
Federal Financial Aid
Admission-based scholarships • Disbursed in Fall and Spring • Each has specific renewal requirements and limit on aid – student must familiarize themselves with these requirements on the website • If a student doesn’t renew their scholarship the first time they have the opportunity to earn it back the following year
Private scholarships
• Mail or bring scholarship checks to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Assistance • If mailing, please include the student 919#
