2024 Northcoast 285HT/255HT

NorthCoast meets Northwest: Introducing the new 285HT/255HT, a hand-built, long range sport fisher and cruiser now available from West Coast Yacht Sales.

Puget Sound-area salmon and bottom fish, beware! A versatile and rugged new long-range, sport-fishing and cruising performance vessel will be cruising the Salish Sound for the first time this summer: the 2024 NorthCoast 285HT/255HT. With a 40-gallon illuminated live well, ample cockpit storage, and a rigging station that all come standard, the 285HT—along with its slightly shorter (31’2” LOA) and narrower (9’5” beam) sister boat, the 255HT—will be the first NorthCoast vessels to arrive in the Northwest, via West Coast Yacht Sales.

Built with a 28-year pedigree in Rhode Island and defined by the heritage of a Portuguese fishing family, the 285HT, considered NorthCoast’s flagship vessel, sleeps four people in two cabins with one totally enclosed head. The traditional, Downeast New England styling and fuel-efficient, hard-chine hull make it a versatile boat for fishing excursions offshore or a smooth-riding family trip around the Sound.

The open-air cockpit provides plenty of room for busy anglers, with six tackle boxes, four tackle drawers, four rod holders, and storage for various tools, filet knives, and lures. Salt- and fresh-water washdowns at the transom, plus a full cockpit perimeter gutter system with oversize scuppers, allow for easy cleanup and drainage.

Inside the pilothouse, an L-shaped, cushioned settee is located to port, with a lacquer-finished, removable wooden table just aft of the helm chairs. The helm itself features a custom electronics package per the customer’s choice, such as twin Simrad touchscreens, a Ritchie compass, USB and DC plugs, a dual trumpet horn, and trim tabs with LED position indicators.

For a steady ride on choppy seas, the optional Seakeeper system, along with the Yamaha Helm Master, can dramatically reduce rolling and allows for docking with the touch of a finger. A custom tinted glass windshield with sliding side windows gives the pilothouse ventilation and a clear, 360-degree view of the surroundings. Also, a custom aft canvas enclosure and Fusion stereo system help provide entertainment when the weather turns.

Just below the helm, three steps provide access to an expansive V-berth for two, perhaps even three, in the bow, with a storage locker to port, the private head to starboard, and an openable hatch above for natural illumination and fresh air. Another step below leads to a smaller cabin aft with room for two berths.

Twin Yamaha outboards (available in T200, T250, and T300 sizes) allow the 285HT to cruise comfortably at any speed, up to 57 mph, and achieve a surprising range of about 290 nautical miles. With 285HT’s superior engineering and hallmark Rhode Island pedigree, it can handle any swell, any chop, any condition, with no pound. Other factory options for the 285HT include a bow thruster for added docking control; a Dometic air conditioning system; a microwave oven; a 24” LED TV; an aft-facing, fold-down cockpit seat; rocket launchers for the hardtop and transom; and dealer installed diesel heater.
