GMO Skyfarm is an initiative to meet the increasing food demand and production by 2050. As years going, climate change has worsen and unpredictable, for the extreme temperature, frequent flooding and intense rainfall. Other than that, the environment has never been better but increasing number of pollution such as low water quality and soil degradation. In relation with local context, urban farming will combat the use of extensive use of chemicals and fertilizers, not only harm to the environment, but also harmful for people.

Urban farming has proven its benefits in its usage compared to traditional farming. Thus, the aim of this project is to support genetically modified food in order to produce more nutritious and healthier crops for people. The main programme would be research and development facilities in agriculture, specifically in gene-editing crops, as well as aiming to cultivate community to grow their own food and reconnect the relationship between human and nature.

CLIENT: Food and Organization of the United Nations (FAO UN) SIZE: 88,465sqm / 952,229.3sqft

PROGRAM: Seasonal skyfarm, R&D laboratories, processing, seed vault, urban farming loop, commercial.
