I remember reading Stargirl in middle school and feeling very connected to it for a lot of reasons. Was the relatability of it part of the reason you wanted to be involved in the project?

Absolutely. I loved reading both the book and the script. I know a lot of the elements discussed are something that most, if not everyone, can relate to. I hope the movie can have the same effect on people watching for the first time, but knowing the story and how effective it is in the book, I think it will.
