JOB ENVIRONMENT This is a full time position based at the New Zealand AIDS Foundation's National Office in Auckland. All employees are required to agree and work within the Foundation's stated vision, purpose, values and goals (as stated in its Strategic Plan), and to abide by its Ethical Code of Conduct, operational policies and procedures. All programmes and services work within the framework of health promotion outlined in the World Health Organisation's Ottawa Charter (1986). Social marketing is used as the method of achieving behaviour change and NZAF is committed to progressing biculturalism. The primary group most affected by HIV and AIDS are gay and bisexual men, and many of our services are targeted to this population. This requires an acceptance of sexual diversity,

sensitivity to the special health needs of men who have sex with men and the creation of a working environment supportive of takatāpui and gay men. Our Positive Health services are focused on the needs of anyone living with HIV and AIDS; gay, heterosexual, transgender, male or female, adult or child, in effect the HIV positive communities and their family/whānau. Our HIV Prevention and Communications Group focuses on those who are most at risk of becoming HIV positive. The HIV Prevention and Communications Group works across the NZAF to manage a range of work including a membership programme, media, fundraising, events, campaigns, social marketing and all general communications for the NZAF. NZAF is a non government organisation based in the community most at risk and has been in existence since 1985. The legal structure is a charitable Trust with a Board of Trustees and employees are members of the Foundation with the right to vote at its annual general meeting and on any other matter referred to the membership.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES The Social Marketing team works to reduce the prevalence of undiagnosed HIV; prevent the onward transmission of HIV and to reduce health inequalities for men who have sex with men (MSM). The National Technology Development Co-ordinator works with the Programme Manager Social Marketing to:

provide guidance, support and new initiatives to the HIV prevention work of NZAF in web design; the technology environment; and ‘on line’ social marketing projects

increase the number of gay and bisexual men and those at risk in the African migrant and refugee communities who practice safe sex and use a condom every time by acting as the lead for all technology based communications and prevention interventions within the NZAF.

HIV Prevention and Communications Group The National Technology Development Co-ordinator is a member of the HIV Prevention and Communications Group and will work closely with other staff in the team.

Key Community Stakeholders The Programme Leader must work in a professional, courteous and open manner with key businesses and individuals that have a strong interest in NZAF’s technology initiatives. Contractors, Consultants and Service Providers. The Programme Leader is required to ensure NZAF manages these relationships positively, within approved processes, budgets and practices so that we achieve our planned outcomes.

NZAF new projects include possible ventures in blogs; chat rooms; viral email; digital DVD and CD; text messaging, myspace; youtube; and emerging new technology opportunities The campaign website has a cohesive planned structure with consistent social marketing branding that is dynamic, attractive to the various target audiences and easy to use NZAF managers can identify messages and activities that are popular and those that have not achieved expected usage levels Setting up and sustaining Technology advisory/support/focus groups of volunteers who have experience in areas of interest for NZAF NZAF web, intranet and technology have bicultural components developed with consultation and consideration of the needs and expectations of the target communities. SUPPORT Supervision The Programme Manager Social Marketing is responsible for ensuring that the National Technology Development Co-ordinator understands their role and tasks, and is supported in carrying them out. Supervision meetings will occur fortnightly. Performance Appraisal Performance appraisal according to a model that includes self, peer, and manager assessment will be carried out annually. Professional Development The value and advantage of education and staff development for both the worker and NZAF is recognised. Adequate training, information and assistance will be provided to ensure that the Programme Leader is able to meet the responsibilities of the position. Administrative Assistance Some clerical and administrative assistance will be provided, but the post holder is expected to be able to self - support when necessary. QUALIFICATIONS a) Technical training and/or a tertiary level qualification related to communications and/or technology ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
