I. Health Stamps.Her Majesty the Queen has graciously consented to the featuring of His Royal Highness, Prince Andrew, on this year's annual Health stamps. As will be seen from the illustrations, His Royal Highness is shown in a different pose on each stamp.

The denominations are again:3td (2';'d postage + 1d Health) 4d (3d postage + 1d Health)

Messrs Thomas De la Rue and Co. Ltd., are printing the stamps by the line-engraved method on New Zealand Star paper with a consistency of 25 per cent rag, 25 per cent birchwood and 50 per cent esparto. The stamps will be in vertical format of 21 mm x 37mm and there will be 120 specimens (twelve rows of 10) in a normal sheet. The printer's imprint and the plate number 1A will appear in the bottom left-hand corner of each sheet and the value panel in the top righthand corner. Miniature sheets of six stamps will also be issued. The printer's imprint will be shown on these sheets and also the sheet value. The 3td stamp will be blue and the 4d stamp red. The date of issue is 7 August, 1963, and provided that stocks are not exhausted earlier, the stamps will remain on s ale until 30 November, 1963. Pictorial dates tamps will be in use on the day of issue at each of the six permanent Health camp post offices. New Zealand residents wishing to obtain first day covers cancelled with a pictorial datestamp, should forward their addressed envelopes to the Chief Postmaster ot the district in which the office is located. A remittance to cover the cost ot the stamps required, plus the


servicing f'ee of' 1d f'or each al Ye lope , should be t'orwarded with each order. The names of' the Health camps and the districts concerned are:- lIaunu (Whangarei), Pakuranga (Auckland), Gisborne (Gisborne), Otak1 (Wellington), Glenelg (Christchurch), and Roxburgh {Dunedin}. Oversea clients may place orders t'or mint stamps and first day covers with the Director-General, Postal DiVision, General Post Of'f'1ce, Wellington. Souvenir envelopes will be available at a cost of' 2d each, and a servicing t'ee of' 1id t'or each cover ..ill be charged. If addressed envelopes are supplied, the servicing f'ee ia a id f'or each cover. The King George the Fifth Memorial Children's Health Camps Federation which maintains the Health camps, is providing the of't'icial souvenir envelopes which will be available at most stores and stationers in New Zealand. The envelopes will be sold f'or 2d each.

2. Christmas Stamp, 1963.The 1963 Christmas stamp which is illustrated here will be issued in October, As advised Krevious1y, a painting by Titian entitled The Holy Family" will be t'eatured on this year's stamp. Messrs Harrison and Sons Limit~d are printing the stamps by the pho"togravure process on paper comprising 50 per cent rag and 50 per cent esparto. So as to reproduce the painting as near aB possible to its actual colours, the printers have used four colours. namely, black, blue, red and yellow. The plate number 1A in the same sequence appears in the bottom lef't-hand corner of each sheet. The printer's imprint is in the same position. The sl~et value of 12s.6d is shown in the top right-hand corner.

Further particulars about this stamp are:The denomination ia 2id. It measures 36mm x 35mm, excluding perforation gutters. The sheets will have six rows of 10 stamps. The multiple watermark is sideways, reading downwards in relation to the stamp. Unless stocks are exhausted beforehand, the stamp will remain on sale until 11 January, 1964. Orders for this stamp and for t'irst day covers may now be placed by oversea clients with the Director-General, Postal DiVision, General Post Office, Wellington. As souvenir covers are not being prOVided A servicing by the Post Office, plain white envelopes will be used. fee of 1td for each envelope should be included with each remittance.


The servicing tee is 1d when an addressed envelope is supplied.

3. Cook Islands.The new Cook Islanda stamps were printed so as to ahow each sub3ect as near as possible to its actual colour. Coloura and sub3ecta are:-

Onl;y one combination ot plates has been used in the printing or each stamp. The number 1 in each of the colours detailed above appears in the bottom left-hand corner ot each sheet. The printer's imprint also is shown in this position. Sheets of the denominations from id to 1s.0d inclusive have 160 stamps, While the 1s.6d, 2s.0d, 3s.0d and 5a.Od stamps have 120 stamps to a aheet. 4. Pictorial Stamps.Two new plate numbers in the 2td denomination were released on 21 May. These are:-

7. Philatelic Mail (Fil"5t Day Covers).Envelopes posted by philatelists in special boxes and those handed in at post of'fices, apart f'rom being caref'ully datestamped, are handled in the same manner as ordinary mail matter. All envelopes which must be addressed to a proper address are delivered only to the address shown on the envelope. The Post Office does not undertake to package f'or deliver.y to the addressee bulk postings of philatelic mail.
