Ba Chieu Home A major recipient of support provided by the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce is the Ba Chieu Home. The home was established by the Women’s Charity Association of HCMC and the former New Zealand Consul General & Trade Commissioner, Celia Caughey. It has also been assisted financially over the years with funds contributed by the New Zealand Embassy and a group of loyal sponsors. The Ba Chieu Home is for homeless and disadvantaged girls in Ho Chi Minh City. The girls in the home are aged between 7 and 19 years and many come from broken and violent homes or in some cases from living on the streets. Funds raised from this event contribute to providing the girls with a safe environment, education and skills for later life.

GIVEHOPE

Formed in 1996, KOTO, (Know One, Teach One) is a leading, not-for-profit social enterprise. They offer holistic training and empowerment programs to help at-risk and disadvantaged youth. THE KOTO program accepts students aged 16 to 24 from a variety of disadvantaged circumstances. The program is 24 months long and incorporates life skills, English and hospitality training in either Kitchen or Front of House. The curriculum is provided and audited by Box Hill Institute Australia. Students graduate from KOTO with a Certificate III in Hospitality, an Australian standard internationally accredited qualification. As of today, KOTO has 600 successful graduates, as well as 200 trainees currently in the program. They have a one hundred percent success rate in placing students in employment after graduation. Funds from the NZ Wine & Food Festival will be used to support KOTO as it grows and continues to provide more and more disadvantaged Vietnamese with a new life.
