Until July 2

His last years. Well mocked by some, considered decadent or even a descent into hell... Marking the beginning of the end, this was an abundant period, sparkling with invention and audacity, an exhilirating thirst for freedom. Picasso dared everything, tried everything and magnificently succeeded in this apotheosis. This beginning of the end must, indeed, be perceived in all its finality.

The Picasso Museum of Antibes, where the artist worked for years, has chosen to exhibit some of Picasso’s most masterful works created between 1969 and 1972. This exposition is part of the many events marking the 50th anniversary of the Master’s passing away.

Picasso used to say that “youth has no age”. The exhibition is indeed a striking demonstration of that. According to the Museum’s director, Jean-Louis Andral, “at the age of 90, the artist is reaffirming that painting is first and foremost a matter of desire and... is inviting us to a joyful celebration”.

A celebration of imagination, love, colours, ever-renewed lines and that of all possibilities. Above all and until his last breath, Picasso is all about this unique way of approaching reality to go beyond it, opening up new horizons, launching arrows towards the future. This new exhibition must be percieved as a matter of urgency. Come to admire these masterpieces rented by numerous private collections and rarely open to the public.
