Learning differently isn’t a problem. Just ask these famous people: Whoopi Goldberg, Ted Turner and Charles Schwab. All dyslexic and all successful. At Assets School, we give gifted learners, who happen to learn differently the tools they need to succeed in school and in life. Many kids learn differently, so at Assets we teach differently. But don’t ask us, ask our students. Ask their parents. Ask our teachers, administrators and staff. They’ll tell you about learning that transforms lives.

How is a sailboat built? When you build that sailboat what math and science should you take into consideration? How can energy be produced without fossil fuels? How can you determine your energy and carbon footprint and what can you do about it? What kind of business can be developed to help sustainability and promote “green”? Where does ocean debris go? How can we use our recycled paper and food leftovers to create fertilizer for our plants? How can we grow vegetables in a limited space?

These are some of the questions pursued by students at the Academy of the Pacific as they learn the national content standards for physics, sociology, global issues, environmental science, marine science, and other subjects while learning 21st Century skills of research, inquiry, communication, presentation, leadership, and teamwork.
