ITALIAN FOR TRAVELERS 19 YRS+

This course is designed for those who have no previous knowledge of Italian and wish to acquire basic conversation and reading skills. The focus will be on providing those who visit Italy, for tourism or work, the skills to ask for directions, order in a restaurant or café, travel in Italy by train, bus or automobile, and have simple conversations with Italians about life and work. The grammar will be kept to a minimum while building vocabulary and proper pronunciation. Please bring $6 to cover course photocopies or $22 to cover the cost of a textbook.

Italian Conversations is designed for students who have taken Italian for Travelers or have a base knowledge of the Italian language. An introductory course for adults planning a trip to Latin America or Spain, and for those interested in the language and culture. This course stresses the ‘practical’ aspects, offering rudimentary conversational Spanish and important information on food, drink, shopping, and culture of the region. MUSICAL INSTRUMENT LESSONS

FLUTES AND CLARINETS 19 YRS+

We will make balanced ensembles of mixed instruments. The emphasis will be on good practice of private and performance skills. Joe is a member of the musical community, and his qualifications include: an Adult Teacher’s Certificate from the City and Guilds, a Certificate of Teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and admission to the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers’ Association. All levels welcome. Handouts provided. Please bring your own instrument.

GUITAR FUNDAMENTALS 19 YRS+

Guitar fundamentals teaches many of the core techniques of playing the guitar. This course is centered around popular music styles and reviews melodies, strumming, and fingerpicking techniques with opportunities for student collaboration. While this class is designed for intermediate beginners, guitarists at other levels are welcome as there will be varying degrees of difficulty for much of the course content. This course is taught by Wes Carroll, an experienced teacher and performer who holds a masters in jazz performance from the University of Toronto. Please bring your guitar with you to class.
