Oakhill's Health and Wellness Department is dedicated to nurturing the complete well-being of each student, recognizing the importance of a harmonious balance in their physical, mental, and emotional realms. This holistic approach encompasses social and emotional well-being, academic success, and the cultivation of a healthy lifestyle, incorporating physical fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness.
Abby Pavlisin, our Wellness Counselor, has developed Oakhill's Counseling Curriculum, focusing on students' social, emotional, and academic welfare Recognizing the interconnectedness of these facets, Pavlisin supports every Oakhill student Small group sessions address specific needs like anxiety and stress, while whole-class lessons cover essential topics such as identifying trusted adults and understanding character strengths.
Delaney Zimmermann, our Learning Specialist and Support Coordinator, leads a team dedicated to academic support. Their efforts include weekly academic small groups, tutoring services, and the creation of Oakhill Student Success Plans, tailoring strategies to individual needs. Whole staff professional development ensures a comprehensive approach, covering areas like multi-sensory grammar and building thinking classrooms, while parent resources strengthen community partnerships.
Under the guidance of Chris Fernandez, Director of Health and Wellness, the Physical Health Department emphasizes maintaining the well-being of both students and faculty Through student evaluations, education on health and healthy habits, collaboration, and community outreach, Oakhill instills the importance of active participation in one's health.
The H.E.A.R.T. Team, a collaborative effort, goes beyond traditional classroom support, providing a wealth of resources for academic, physical, and social-emotional well-being Oakhill believes these resources are not mere add-ons but integral elements that enhance the value of each student's journey toward becoming their best selves.
