Maintenance Worker Real Estate Manager
Oakland Planning and Development Corporation (OPDC) is a community-based organization in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood with a 35-year history of serving the community. The Maintenance Worker is under the general supervision of the Real Estate Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities. The Maintenance Worker provides general upkeep to OPDC properties and ensures that they are maintained in a safe and mechanically sound condition. Responsibilities and Duties: • Performs general handyman repairs and maintenance on properties according to work orders, including, but not limited to painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and flooring. • Performs other supportive duties, such as but not limited to meeting inspectors and contractors, moving offices, hauling and clearing snow, as requested by the Manager. • Daily communication with the Manager regarding incoming and outgoing work orders, tasks, supplies, etc. • Informs the Manager of any maintenance or safety issues identified. • Follows policies and procedures regarding access to residential units, including making necessary phone calls or communicating with support staff. Minimum Qualifications:

Must have experience with basic building maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, etc. Must possess basic tools to perform basic building maintenance work. Must be physically able to climb several flights of stairs. Must be capable of lifting at least 80 pounds of equipment, materials, etc. Must possess the ability to express sensitivity to OPDC residents, clients and staff while maintaining personal boundaries. Must be able to work cooperatively with other maintenance personnel, program staff, contractors, vendors, etc. Must have the ability to follow a maintenance schedule, instructions, and work independently. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to access job sites. Must provide documentation of physical stating individual is fit for the position. Must pass PA criminal history check.
Working Conditions Maintenance Worker must provide a work vehicle and cellular phone to assist in the completion of scheduled tasks. OPDC will provide the supplies and any specific or uncommon tools needed to complete the required tasks. Job hours consist of daytime and the occasional evening and weekend work. This job is labor intensive and takes place inside and outdoors. Compensation Compensation commiserate with experience. OPDC offers a generous benefit package including health insurance, and retirement and paid time off. Job is fulltime at 37.5 hours per week.
