Set within 200 acres of countryside, our St Albans Campus offers students a spacious, semi-rural environment just a short distance from the city centre. The campus is home to Wolves Sports Academies and features a range of specialised facilities, including a working farm, an equestrian centre, and an animal education centre with a zoo.
Our brand new sustainable Construction Centre is dedicated to plumbing, electrical and renewable installation trades. Additionally, the campus will introduce a High Performance Centre (HPC) and gym, supporting our 12 sports academies and offering world-class training facilities for sports like football, rugby, basketball, and athletics.

We offer a broad range of subjects, with our A Level pathways uniquely connected to our sports academies, allowing students to pursue their academic studies alongside their sporting passions.
Additionally, we offer comprehensive support in preparing personal statements, interview practice, and other selection processes, ensuring you have the best possible chance of gaining admission to your first-choice university.

A BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) qualification is a vocational programme which offers practical, skillsbased learning. Available in various subjects and at various levels, BTECs are designed to prepare students for employment or further education, blending coursework with realworld experiences.
T Levels at Oaklands
If you’re aiming for university, T Levels are an excellent choice. Equivalent to three A Levels, they are ideal for students with a strong interest in a specific subject or career who want to combine work experience with their studies.
T Level includes a blend of classroom learning (80%) and practical industry experience (20%), featuring a minimum 45day placement.
Look out for the T Level option in each subject section.

What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a real job that allows you to earn while you learn, gaining valuable skills and industry-specific knowledge. It’s a great way to enter a company or sector you’re interested in.
What sectors can I get an apprenticeship in?
Oaklands partners with leading employers to provide apprenticeships across various growing industries, including land-based and environmental, construction and engineering, professional sectors, education, and services such as hair, beauty, early years, and business administration.
Discover Higher Level Study at Oaklands
Oaklands offers a variety of university-level pathways that provide greater flexibility and value for money compared with traditional degree courses. These programmes are available to current students advancing their studies, professionals seeking to upskill, and individuals aiming to transition into a new sector.
What can I study?
Oaklands offer both HTQs (Higher Technical Qualifications), Foundation, and Extended Degrees. HTQs are technical qualifications developed with input from employers to ensure you receive the training and skills necessary for success in the workplace. HTQs come in several forms, including:
Higher National Diplomas (HND)
Higher National Certificates (HNC)
HNCs and HNDs can be completed as fulltime or part-time programmes. The HND can provide progression to year two of a degree or sometimes lead to the final year.

Higher Education
Oaklands College is partnered with the University of Hertfordshire, providing our Foundation Degree and Extended Degrees students with access to the University’s facilities.
Higher Education provision is primarily based at the dedicated HE Centre at our Welwyn Garden City campus, with Sports provision based at our St Albans campus.
Progress to complete a Higher Education programme and you will not have to pay back your student finance for your Access to HE qualification – it is written off by the Government!

Welcome to LIFE, our provision for students with additional support requirements and/or special educational needs and disabilities.
We offer a variety of full-time Pre-Entry/Entry Level through to Level 2 courses that meet a broad and diverse range of special educational and SEMH needs across three departments. Whether our learners begin with us in Springfield, Supportive Learning or Foundation into Vocation, our courses aim to meet the needs of students based on their individual needs, EHCP outcomes (where applicable) and specific learning style.
Our courses help learners become more independent at home, in their local community and, if meaningful to the individual, those who wish to progress into lasting employment or education at a higher level of study.

Special educational needs and disabilities
Springfield
Specialist SLD and PNI provision based at our St Albans Campus. Courses are for young adults with a current Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who may have profound and complex learning difficulties, disabilities, physical disabilities and challenges and/or may require specialist medical support to access the curriculum.
Foundation into Vocation
Designed for students with moderate learning difficulties, disabilities, and Social & Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and for students who have had prolonged periods out of education. Intended to support students to transition onto a mainstream vocational course.
Supportive Learning
Designed for students with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), working between Entry Level 1 and GCSE in Mathematics and English. The course aims to develop students’ communication, independence, numeracy, literacy, and selfregulation.

Cycling Academy
Our Cycling Academy sets a new benchmark with its innovative endurance and freeride programmes. The endurance programme has a proven track record of nurturing national and European champions, while advancing riders to the Great Britain Cycling Team. Our freeride academy, which strives to develop our rider's technical ability, has had comparative success in producing a National BMX champion and an Elite National Series Pump Track winner.
We are dedicated to guiding talented and ambitious riders from youth to senior levels, supporting their physiological development, technical skills, and racing acumen. Our goal is to cultivate our riders to be the very best versions of themselves while maintaining a deep passion for the sport.

Netball Academy
Oaklands Wolves Netball Academy supports players of all levels with daily training, competitive fixtures, and comprehensive support. Our academy has consistently qualified for the AOC Championships and secured 3rd place in 2024.
Our athletes regularly represent in local franchises (LDN Mavericks, London Pulse) as well as Premier League and Regional League exposure. Wolves Netball Academy also have representation from County Leagues and Local Leagues. All athletes benefit from professional coaching and guidance, ensuring they reach their full potential on and off the court.

Saracens Women’s Rugby Academy
The Saracens Women’s Academy provides a pathway for ambitious young female rugby players aged 16-19, offering elite performance training with academic education.
We are very proud that since 2018 we have had a series of players progress into the Senior Saracens squad and gain international honours. Outside of this, many players have continued their rugby journey, and have moved onto university, apprenticeships, as well as the armed forces.

We use advanced tools like force plates, motion capture systems, and VO2 max machines to measure speed, agility, and biomechanics. Key metrics like lactate threshold, body composition, and power output are regularly analysed to personalise training programmes. Testing protocols include metabolic assessments and movement screenings to monitor progress and guide improvements.

Oaklands students are eligible for discounted travel with Uno. From 1st August 2024, Oaklands tickets, including free options, will be available for purchase through the Uno website and app. To access the appropriate ticket group:
‘Oaklands Free’ Group: For those entitled to free travel. Upload a copy of your Oaklands bus pass.
‘Oaklands Regular’ Group: For those paying the discounted price. Upload a copy of your Oaklands ID card.
Please request access to only one group to avoid delays. Misuse of the ticket scheme may result in the loss of travel privileges.
