Two Major Teaching Methodologies in Indian Educational System Martin Luther King once said “the function of education is to teach one to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education”. Educational institutions have more significant responsibilities to accomplish than what we believe since they design and develop the future. For developing countries like India, education is the most powerful asset that shall make some difference. So, you shall consider and consult various factors before proceeding to enroll your child in a school near your home. The teaching methods and curriculum play the fundamental role in molding the child to be sensible person once they come out of their school. Here, we are going to look at the pros and cons of 2 curriculums, the CBSE and IB, so that you get an idea before proceeding fro your child’s admission. 

CBSE

CBSE or the Central Board of Secondary Education is administrated by the Union Government of India for both the public and private schools. Above 9000 schools across India follow the CBSE curriculum which makes it the most popular board in India. CBSE pay more attention in training students to get a good hold on science and math subjects. They follow the theoretical method than the practical learning. The system concentrates more on the theoretical subject areas to increase the knowledge level of each child. When compared to other boards, CBSE curriculum is easy and less burdening to study as the number of subjects are fewer. CBSE syllabus is applicable to children between the age group of 4 to 17. Considering North India, there are so many CBSE schools in Mohali where you could enroll your child. 

IB

IB or International Baccalaureate is a globally accredited teaching methodology. It is a Global Educational Foundation, which came into existence in the year 1968 with headquarters set up in Geneva, Switzerland. The IB curriculum focuses more on the development of a child’s personality, language learning abilities, teamwork and leadership qualities, and interpersonal relationships. Holistic learning is the forte of the IB curriculum. IB teaching methodology promises the growth and enhancement of students’ communication skills and awareness on global cultural. Children are taught ‘how to learn’ other than ‘what to learn’ under this teaching method. The IB curriculum is entirely different compared to other board of studies as this spotlight more on practical learning and experimental understanding. Many of the best schools in Mohali offer IB curriculum with all the required facilities to conduct the course. IB presents 3 different programs to learners, such as the PYP (Pimary Year Program), MYP (Middle Year Program), and the DP (Diploma Program).
