Performing and Visual Arts The arts program adds richness to an Oaks Christian School education. Our visual and performing art courses offer students the opportunity to explore and discover their inherent creative gifts. Our student-artists perform and showcase their work through campus exhibits and shows or community venues. Artistic Expression is evidenced in the numerous honors and accolades our students have received: the Jerry Herman Awards for High School Musical Theatre, the Ventura County “Hang

with the Best,” art showcase, the Westlake Village Art Guild Student Exhibits, the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California, and the Annual Youth Arts Awards, to name a few. Students compete in regional and statewide competitions, resulting in awards, honors and recognition. The theatre and dance departments produce several major events each year, including feature-length plays and musicals. Alumni are working full-time in the entertainment industry.

IDEA Lab (Innovation, Design, Engineering, Aeronautics) The OCS IDEA Lab (Innovation, Design, Engineering and Aeronautics) is a 10,000 square foot facility like no other on a California high school campus. This modern facility gives OCS students a jump in STEM career paths (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). This state-of-theart facility houses metal and wood fabrication machines, 3D printers, and a variety of other tools that are typically reserved for college fabrication labs or industrial labs. In addition to the fabrication space, the IDEA Lab houses 5 classrooms: physics, robotics, electrical engineering, computer science, and a flex classroom.
