TENANT CHECKLIST
Key things to consider when looking for an apartment
LOCATION: location in the city; ease of access to workplace, school, kindergarden, and other important venues and public services; safe environment and neighbourhood.

FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES: can be provided with furniture, with some furniture, or without furniture; what household appliances (dishwasher, oven, washing machine) the property comes with?; kitchen furniture, and closets should be always provided.
HEATING: type of heating system installed in the apartment (non-adjustable district heating, adjustable central/ collector heating, other types of adjustable heating using gas or electrical power), average heating bills, etc.

RENT AND PAYMENT PROCEDURE: ads specify rent only, with all public utility fees paid additionally based on actual consumption, unless agreed otherwise by the parties.
DEPOSIT: can be from 1 to 3 months rent depending on the level of development of the property, reputation of the tenant, and the parties’ mutual trust and arrangements.
PARKING FACILITIES: garage, underground/outdoor parking lot, yard (private vs. common, locked vs. unlocked, etc.).
RENTAL TERM: the minimum rental term is normally 6 months.
PUBLIC UTILITY FEES: water, electrical power, gas, and heating. Where, how, and when public utility fees must be paid, and their rates.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES: high-speed internet, cable television, apartment cleaning, territory and/or house maintenance, security alarm system, etc. - all these services might be subjects to separate agreements.
