Bell Tent — Our lockable Bell Tents are individually plotted on a wooden terrace base for extra stability and comfort. Their double ‘A’ frame construction provides extra space and height for standing. Sleeping up to four people, the units can be configured with single and double beds, which are provided with quality bed linen and towels. BOK — Dine beneath the pines with amazing views out onto the Adriatic Sea. BOK serves seasonal and regional tapas along with à-la-carte menus for brunch and dinner. The Kitchen — With a poolside lounge area, sunset views and table service, this is the spot where afternoons accidentally merge into evenings. In addition to a fantastic range of meat, fish, salads, fresh pasta and sweet treats, there are daily specials that make the most of the fresh produce available on our doorstep. Green Bar — For refuelling, this dedicated café offers juices, salads, raw bars, gluten-free and vegan options throughout the day. The outlet proved most popular with those looking for healthy nourishment after a yoga class or a particularly heavy night.

In addition to the meat options, which are cooked to order, there are always veggie and vegan dishes too. Croatian Grill — New for 2017, this intimate sunset bar and restaurant, serves freshly grilled meat and fish in a traditional, Croatian style. Pavilion Health Food — New for 2017, this extra-healthy vegan and vegetarian outlet caters to those of you looking to fulfil eco-conscious diets or willing to be surprised by the tastiest, most guilt-free menus. We are working to build a local supply chain of organic farmers to supply us with the best of local produce.

OUR EXPERIENCE IN FESTIVALS AND EVENTS STRETCHES BACK FIFTEEN YEARS, SO WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN THE MUSIC ON OBONJAN. We partner with club nights, record labels and musicians from across the world. Last summer, we welcomed the likes of Gilles Peterson, Kate Tempest, Four Tet and Anderson .Paak. In 2017 we’ll have a stunning programme of incredible live acts and DJs selected by special guest curators.

The Amphitheatre — A spectacular stone-built venue for occasional live music performances, talks and presentations, theatre productions, and other entertainment events. Watch and listen under star-filled skies or in afternoon sunshine, with views beyond the stage, stretching out across the Adriatic Sea. Forest Bar — Our late night spot for dancing beneath the pines to an array of world-class spinners and selectors. This cosy, woodland clearing hosts record label and club partner showcases. The Pool And Drift Bar — By day, DJs kick back and dig deep from one of two DJ booths, each with some of the world’s most enviable views. Choose poolside or harbourside; nice work if you can get it!

OBONJAN IS A PLACE FOR FUN, CREATIVITY AND SHARING IDEAS. WE INVITE ACADEMICS, MUSICIANS, AUTHORS, ARTISTS AND OTHER SPECIALISTS, WHO SHARE THEIR THOUGHTS AND HOST WORKSHOPS WITH YOU, ACROSS THE SEASON. The Pavilion — The Pavilion is the lively focal point of the island and plays host to talks, workshops, comedy and film screenings. Every week, our friends from the world of stand-up comedy provide the laughs, there’s also a choice selection of classic and independent films for you to enjoy. With so much going on, you’d be forgiven for staying here all day. Astronomy — Working with astronomers and independent scientists, we host astonishing astronomy workshops on the southern tip of the island. When the sun goes down, visitors get close up views of the stars and planets that lie inside and outside our solar system. When the sun shines, filters enable participants to see our closest star in an entirely different light. In our mind, these sessions are an Obonjan highlight. Art — We showcase artwork at various locations throughout the island, with world-renowned artists delivering commissioned pieces and engaging you with collaborative workshops and projects. The result of all this creativity is on show as ephemeral projections and permanent artworks, including decorated buildings and unique sculptures. The island would certainly be a duller place without them.

Boutiques — Our retail boutiques are carefully and stylishly curated with fashion, gifts, accessories, ceramics, apothecary and beachwear from around the globe, delivering a unique shopping experience. We currently stock brands such as Folk, Norse Project, Prism, Pameplone, Haeckles and Teva. For the 2017 season, we’ll introduce brand pop-up opportunities and promotional activities. Corner Shop — The Corner Shop stocks all the essentials you’d need for island life; including suncream, toiletries, fresh fruit, craft beers, quinoa granola and from next summer a coffee shop, complete with an organic deli and bakery .

OBONJAN IS CENTRALLY LOCATED WITHIN CROATIA’S ADRIATIC COASTLINE. ZADAR AND SPLIT AIRPORTS ARE THE CLOSEST, WITH AN ONWARD JOURNEY TIME OF ONLY 45-60 MINUTES TO THE PORT OF ŠIBENIK. FROM THERE, THE ISLAND IS JUST A SHORT, SCENIC BOAT RIDE AWAY.

Flights — There are multiple daily flights from all major European airports to Split Airport with additional flights to Zadar throughout the week from many other European locations. Further afield, Zagreb, Rijeka and Dubrovnik airports are all approximately 3hours 30min by road to Šibenik, Mostar airport in neighbouring Bosnia & Herzegovina is 2hours 30min by road. Boat Transfers — Every Obonjan adventure begins with an unforgettable boat journey from the mainland. From the Port of Šibenik, there are scheduled 45 minute boat transfers available, as well as an abundance of private taxi boats, delivering a journey time of approximately 25 minutes.

Ecology and Biodiversity —

ECOLOGY AND BIODIVERSITY ON OBONJAN

We’re investing in projects that acknowledge Obonjan’s outstanding natural landscapes. By partnering with Dvokut, a Croatian company of environmental experts, we have funded a full marine and terrestrial biodiversity study on the island. By learning from its findings, we continue to work with Eden Lab to install a well-informed environmental management plan so that the unique beauty of Obonjan will be managed sensitively for future generations. We are working to meet our objectives of full carbon audits and carbon management procedures, laying down markers for future initiatives. Our long-term plan involves Obonjan becoming host to pioneering research focused on the need for environmentally sensitive tourism development and activity. Various Not-For-Profit organisations are already helping us to develop such strategies. The Carbon Free Group are assisting with a Renewable Energy Strategy. WasteAid UK is enabling us to refine our Waste Management Strategy. Šibenik municipality and local NGOs are helping to unite us with organic food and beverage producers and various environmentally-aware small businesses in the region, with a long-term view to promoting Obonjan and the Šibenik region as a world-leading destination for sustainable tourism.

SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC IMPACTS

With the Obonjan project, we want to create enduring and positive social and economic legacies. Already, we’re building stronger links with various stakeholders, especially in Šibenik and the surrounding areas. Building on our existing partnerships, we’re adapting our supply chains so that we work more closely with businesses in the region. We’re particularly keen to bring more locally produced, organic produce to the island in 2017. By joining together with these partners, we want to help promote the region as a travel destination, encouraging everybody who visits the island to enjoy the phenomenal restaurants, vineyards, and national parks on our doorstep. On the island itself, we’re planning to improve welfare provisions for our own staff. Longer term ambitions include links with local universities and sustainable tourism education and training on Obonjan. People are at the heart of what we do, and we’re intent on remembering that in the years to come.
