OBSCURUS
All images within OBSCURUS Magazine are copywrite to their respective designers, photographers and stylist. If you’d like to use any images from this and any future or past issues, please contact the correct person to do so. These artists worked hard on not only their designs and editorial, but on the road to get where they are today, so please, give them credit where it is due! Also, please note that some credits may be MIA within the issue, since it is a showcase of the designer’s work, sometimes there are more than one photographer, stylist, model, etc., so please be sure to check out the official blog for the full credits to some of the spreads.

ROM THE EDITOR
Wow, I really can’t believe that OBSCURUS Magazine is almost a whole year old. For those who have been with me since the beginning, you’ll remember the first “issue”: a ten-page Tumblr photoset featuring Lucinda’s line Sanctus (whom you’ll be seeing some images from in this issue) that had all of 9 notes on it. The ‘zine has now gone to having over 15,000 readers and viewers world-wide, more than I ever could have hoped. So a huge thank you for taking my whim of an idea and giving it some huge black wings to soar with, and also to the designers and labels who have worked with me thus far! I’m hoping to make the anniversary issue something special, but this issue, the Designer Showcase has been a lot of fun to put together. It features five designers, some I’ve worked with in the past, and some are new faces to the magazine!
And since this is my little blurb section, I’d like to address a question I have been getting a lot. A lot of you, both readers and contributors have been wondering if and when OBSCURUS will ever be physically printed instead of just strictly online, and the answer? Yes. As I told Phillip (who’s work you’ll also see in this issue), there are two main reasons why the magazine is not published yet, one is cost and one is size. I could make prints off Issuu, but because I would want the best quality for readers, it would cost upwards of $20 per issue, and to me that’s not fair to charge when you can go get a copy of Z!NK or Nylon for $5. The second, is that I would like the magazine to consistently be over 100 pages like any regular magazine so you as the reader get your money’s worth! So please, if you know of any online publishing platforms where I can upload the PDF and go from there and it’s at an economical price, let me know (I’ve already gotten MagCloud by the way!)!
But aside from that, I hope you all enjoy this issue! And please note that this issue contains mature content!!
Stephanie

MONSTRUOSITÉ Dolly Donshey, the women behind the label and who also gave the magazine its first full-length editorial has returned to showcase her amazing corset, headwear and now apparel as shown in her latest fashion week runway show. She’ll cinch you in and top you off with one of her breathtakingly elaborate designs faster than you can try and perfect your French accent.
LUCINDA SINCLAIR It’s only appropriate that we of course feature the designer who started it all. Without Lucinda graciously accepting my invite to OBSCURUS, the magazine may have not taken off. Even though it was only a Tumblr photoset, she loved it and I loved that she loved it! The owner and designer of Sanctus may not have any designs to share this time around, with her upcoming collection being in the works and a bit of a surprise, but that doesn’t mean she can’t show us around her studio in a few shots!
