Finding your personal style There's a saying you'll hear from us at least twice a day – "I can appreciate the pretty, but I can't make it." And it's the truth. Thousands of images pass by our eyes each week, one more beautiful than the last. As editors, we know what we like and don't, what's stylish and what's overdone (blush and gold, anyone?). One thing we aren't so capable of? Imagining those stunning details, building a cohesive look and bringing everything to life. If we had it our way, we'd definitely develop a knack for floral arranging (Erin) and master the art of the baking the perfect wedding cake (Heather). Until that day comes, we'll be here cheering on the pros who make the pretty on a daily basis.

Are you a bride with a Pinterest board chalk full of incredible imagery and design, none of which seem to 'go?' Us too. While it's easy to love stunning wedding details, creating a cohesive stylish look isn't so simple. That's why we love designers – event, floral, etc. These pros know what makes for an über stylish event that isn't just a mash up of all your Pinterest board favorites. WHAT TO TIP YOUR VENDORS
M O D E R N G U I D E T O G R AT U I T I E S If there's one gray area in the wedding world, it's paying gratuities. Long-standing etiquette says ones thing and modern trend says another. We say: if you loved your service – show it with a tip. By Meghan Bishop Whether your vendor owns their business or is an hourly employee matters little to us. Gratuity says "I'm so thankful for the extra care you showed to me." and giving shouldn't be determined by who the boss is. It's determined by the quality of service. Here's a list of the vendors you should plan to tip because of their onsite expertise at the end of your very long, very fabulous big day.
WEDDING PLANNER Traditionally, it has been thought that you don't need to give your wedding planner anything for a tip. But, considering they're the one vendor who has done the bulk of the work on your wedding - we say, why not? Did he/she knock your socks off with pulling off your wedding flawlessly? Was there a ton of extra work involved that wasn’t discussed when pricing was set? Whatever the case may be, you can feel comfortable giving between $100-10% of their fees in cash or a gift in the same amount to show your gratitutde. TIP: $100-10% of fees PHOTOGRAPHERS & VIDEOGRAPHERS In our opinion, your photographer and videographer will be the most important vendor you choose. Each photographer on the day of your wedding should be tipped $100-200, and second shooters $50-75. TIP: $50-200 per person CEREMONY MUSICIANS Not sure what to give the string trio that played your wedding march? What about the choir that sang as you did your unity candle? If it was a professional group, 10% of the entire amount charged to be split amongst the musicians. If it’s a civil group or a church group and they didn’t charge, give a donation either to the group or the church – just as you would a religious officiant. TIP: 10% of fee to be split among musicians
THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN TIPPING...

RECEPTION MUSICIANS OR DJ Every guest was on the dance floor and your party was non-stop all night! You should tip $2550, per musician. For the DJ - he/she is the one person resonsible for the entire flow and energy of your event. We think they deserve a whole lotta love for guaranteeing a good time. MUSICIAN TIP: $25-50 per person DJ TIP: $100-200 OFFICIANT Your dad’s friend is a judge, your neighbor got registered online, your junior high school pastor, or your pastor now that you are an adult has accepted the job of conducting your service– etiquette says no cash should be given. Instead, give a thank you card and a gift card or a donation to the house of worship if affiliated. TIP: A donation and thank you note will do CATERING STAFF This varies depending on the region of the country you are in. In the South, it is appropriate to tip $20 per person to the onsite staff and $50 to the lead catering manager. You can give the manager the amount of money you intend to tip each waitstaff to distribute to them. You can get hard fast numbers of wait staff from the caterer beforehand when giving final head count to the caterer to help you prepare. TIP: $20-50 per person BARTENDER Your bartender will deal with a bunch of guests craziness the evening of your wedding (i.e.
"There is tooooooo much coke in my Jack"). Bartenders who work on a catering staff team make a higher hourly wage than what you'd expect in a restaurant so you can tip them the same as the other catering staff. No need to go above and beyond, unless you really want to. TIP: $20-50 like the other catering event staff DRIVER TIP Your driver will wait outside for 30 minutess as you say your goodbyes to your friends and family and make sure that your take-away plate is in the car for your midnight snack before he drives clear across town to your desired place! Proper tip is 15-20% presented after arrival. TIP: 15-20% of fees RENTAL STAFF TIP This one is optional. Rental drop off delivery people sometimes get $20-50 per person depending on how much they are bringing in and having to set up. Most of the time you have a team of 2-4 depending on the size of the order and they will be the last ones out of the space at the end of the night. TIP: $20-50 per person HAIR STYLIST & MAKEUP ARTIST As important pictures are, your hair and makeup professional will help ensure you look the best! Hair and make-up professionals should get 1520% of the total bill. TIP: 15-20% of services
Some vendors may have gratuity included in their contract – if this is the case, no tip is necessary. Read your contract to be certain. Also, if a vendor does not fulfill what was expected, don’t feel obligated. And if you want to reward a vendor that you didn’t get a chance to see or interact with, don’t underestimate the power of a sincere thank you card with a little token of your appreciation inside. Tipping is something you should be prepared to do (a lot of) on your wedding day. Depending on the caliber of the professionals you hire will determine the amount of tips you should budget for. HIRING A FINE ART FILM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Davy Whitener is a fine art wedding and portrait film photographer. His approach begins with his love for people and that is reflected in the rapport he establishes with each client. His craftmanship turns sacred moments into authentic, beautiful, and timeless photographs.
Photographing every moment of a wedding day is no trivial task. Turning those captured moments into art on film? Even more momentous. I see 'fine art photographer' on a lot of vendors' websites these days. What does it mean? Put simply, I consider myself a fine art photographer, art director, and an artist. I may “coach” while I shoot classic portraits or groupings. As a fine art photographer, I want everything and everyone to look their best and most flattering. I may move a bride several ways, in order to find that most flattering angle (I believe this is almost a lost art!). I want to capture a stunning full length, three quarter, and close up of a bride that will stand the test of time. This will make moms happy, and the bride will love to have this when she is older. Adding candids is icing on the cake! Will a film photographer be shooting exclusively in film, or will he/she have a digital camera there too? This is a great question! Every photographer is different, but personally, I always talk about this with my brides beforehand and go over the options for her specific locations. I will shoot film wherever possible (my favorite medium), but will carry my digital camera for times I feel it will deliver a better result (i.e., in a dark church or low light reception). At the end of the day, I am a photographer and want to deliver the best photographs possible to my clients. If you're a bride who wants all film, consider an outdoor wedding and reception, or have your wedding during daylight hours.

Is the photographer going to be changing film, or will there be someone helping? Personally, I always have a professional assistant with me to change my film. I don’t want to slow things down, or have to think about changing film. This allows me to stay focused on what I am doing and continue working. This is not the same with everyone though! Some photographers prefer to change their own film and it works great for them. Is film safe? Do film photographers back up images with digital shots? Nothing can be guaranteed 100%. Film can be damaged, memory cards can read error messages, etc. This is an important piece of information that should be present in the contract you sign with your photographer. It's important to note that film has been around well over 100 years and

digital has dominated the market the last 10-15 years! As long as your photographer is professional and competent, you're in safe hands.

W H AT O R D E R SHOULD I HIRE MY VENDORS IN?
After you determine your wedding budget and choose your wedding style, the ultimate step in the wedding planning process begins: hiring trustworthy, reputable wedding vendors to carry out your vision. But, who do you hire first? The big decisions will effect the small decisions so following the schedule will ease your stress in the end. To help you with the process we’ve outlined the best order to book your wedding vendors in from start to finish.
WEDDING PLANNER 12 months in advance You should choose your wedding planner first to reserve your date on their calendar and have their guidance during the entire wedding planning process. From the beginning to the end, your wedding planner will be your experienced counsel for every vendor interview, contract, and scheduling question. While you’re interviewing and deciding on who to hire, you can still start to do research on venues and take tours, but we don’t suggest booking anything until your wedding planner can review a contract with you.

2 WEDDING VENUE 12 months in advance The most obvious reason to book your wedding venue next is to reserve your date. If you live in a popular metro area, event venues will likely be booked for weddings up to one, maybe two years, in advance. Secondly, your wedding venue will eat up the bulk of your wedding budget. Knowing how much money you will be spending on the venue, will give you a remaining amount of budget to work with. Lastly, the style of your wedding venue will effect the overall style of your wedding. Whether you choose a glamorous ballroom or countryside barn – everything from your wedding dress, flowers to music selection will be effected.
3 PHOTOGRAPHER AND VIDEOGRAPHER 11 months in advance The third vendor to hire for your wedding is your photographer and videographer because these are most often single person (or small teams) of creative professionals that work one wedding per day. Much of why you’ll hire them is based off of loving their style and loving their pricing even more, so once you find your match – make it official by signing the contract.
4 BAND OR DJ 11 months in advance While you might not think about entertainment

for your wedding reception at this stage of the game, you should! Your band or DJ is a perfect example of a wedding vendor who can only service one wedding per day. If you have your heart set on a specific band, or love the energy of the DJ you saw at your friend’s wedding – book them now. This goes for ceremony musicians too. WEDDING DRESS 11 months in advance Once you decide on where you will get married and where the reception will be, it’s time to go dress shopping! Most bridal stores will need to place the order for your dress from the dress designer at least 10 months in advance. Pick your bridal party and groomsmen attire now too.

6 HAIR AND MAKEUP 9 months in advance Chances are you are as thick as thieves with your hair dresser and have your cut and color pre-booked every time you leave the salon, and for good reason! But does your stylist do bridal updos? Many don’t. And if you think your hair girl gets booked, just imagine what the schedule of a top bridal hair stylist and and wedding makeup artist looks like. Busy. Your beauty vendors will likely only be able to serve one full bridal party per Saturday. So book them sooner than later.
7 CATERER 8 months in advance If your venue does not offer onsite catering, it's time to hire an offsite caterer to feed your guests. During this time you will review their menus, read customer testimonials and brainstorm on setups like buffets, plated or stations and maybe even have a tasting.
8 FLORAL AND DECOR 8 months in advance Next up are wedding flowers. At eight months in advance you have a good amount of time to get on the schedule for the best wedding florist in your area and brainstorm with them

So we say get on the schedule in advance by signing the wedding cakecontract. Again, it’s likely you’ll have your tasting a bit later in the process, but reserving your spot in their weekend schedule ahead of time will make sure you get the cake baker you like the best.
q INVITATIONS 6-8 months in advance If you would like to send out Save-the-Dates, you’ll want to choose your stationery designer eight months in advance. Terry Saxe of Special T Events says “If a couple is sending out Save-the-Dates, then those need to be sent out six months before the wedding. In that case, the stationer should be hired at least two months prior to that date in order have time to pick something out, do proofs, have them printed and addressed. For invitations only, a bride should start to look at her options six months out as the standard is that invitations should be mailed out at least eight weeks prior to the wedding date.” TRANSPORTATION 4 months in advance Kirkley Hennessey, owner of Hennessey Transportation says “We typically ask brides and grooms to have their wedding transportation arrangements booked at least 3-4 months in advance. This allows the company they choose to reserve the fleet equipment without any issues. As that is a suggestion, I personally feel it’s best to contract this service as soon as they know what they need. Whether it’s just a getaway car or an entire manifest of guest travel, the sooner the better for all parties. A lot of times they know they need transportation, but they are not certain what exactly they’re looking for."

HOW TO HOST AN UNPLUGGED WEDDING CEREMONY
Molly McKinley loves creating the perfect atmosphere and focuses greatly on the guest experience. Her desire is to make her bride and groom's wedding planning process enjoyable and easy, so they can prepare for their upcoming marriage.
DO: Hire a great photographer and planner. The best photographers I know push their way in, are on top of it and ahead of schedule, and do their best alongside the wedding planner to ensure guests don’t ruin precious moments being caught on camera. And if they do? They ask for those moments to be re-done if they are important. Missed the kiss at the cake cutting because of a guest? Take another. DON’T: Put any mention of an unplugged ceremony in your invitation. That is not appropriate, just like you shouldn’t include your registries, “no jeans,” and “no children.” If you absolutely must, have your stationer create a completely separate enclosure for your request. Carefully curate your words alongside your stationer and wedding planner – you should always be a polite host. DO: Make a note on your wedding website! It’s a great, non-obtrusive way to let guests know your wishes. DON’T: Assume that your guests will put their phones away the entire night. That is asking a lot. Placing signs on your guest tables just furthers the distraction. Instead, don’t give them the chance to be on their phones – throw a great party! Make your guests put their phones down because the band is too good! Engage them! DO: Verbally encourage guests in a polite way to make sure their phones are either off or on silent and put away during the ceremony. Your ushers and greeters can handle this for you. Have your wedding planner brief them on the task before they begin. Your officiant can also mention

something at the beginning of your ceremony. DON’T: Turn into Bridezilla and Groomzilla. You can only control things to a certain point. Enjoy your day and realize you’re surrounded by LOVE! (Even if there are a few phones still involved after all of your work.) DO: Create a sign near where guests are entering, in a place where they will stop (near where ushers are seating). Some guests won’t get the memo, despite verbal encouragement while they’re being seated. The sign should be easily readable but compliment your wedding style. DON’T: Assume guests are conditioned to know to turn off their electronics. A gentle reminder is necessary to ensure your guests are informed and on board. DO: Include an insert in your program. However, remember that programs are keepsakes for you and many other guests. Do

you want your unplugged ceremony verbiage to pop out awkwardly from your beautiful and thoughtful program? Have your stationer print a small insert to remind guests. It gets the point across without tainting your stunning program! DO: Make sure you are able to share your photos with guests, if you’re asking them not to take their own. Ask your photographer about this, as many do not include rights to the photos to make additional revenue online. That is their prerogative, but you can likely buy the rights to the photos to share them with guests. Keep in mind that the traditional photographer’s timeline is at least 6-8 weeks to turn images around. If you’d like guests to be able to enjoy photos sooner, a photo booth is always a great option! DON’T: Share your photographer’s photos without permission. This could get you into trouble! Ask, ask, ask.

WEDDING VENUE REVIEW So, exactly what type of occasion do you envision for your upcoming wedding? Knowing this will ease your venue search because the setting affects the overall style tremendously. Not to mention the budget! In the Southeast, the options for brides are limitless. From country clubs to hotels, city clubs, oceanfront resorts, farms, barns, antebellum homes, private mansions and everything in between... a girl's got options. So, we've scoured the top cities to bring you the very best venues to select from.
QUESTIONS TO ASK A POTENTIAL VENUE . . . HOW MANY HOURS DOES MY RENTAL FEE INCLUDE? ARE THERE OVERTIME CHARGES? Some venues charge by the hour for use of their facility. Knowing exactly how many hours are included, and allotting plenty of time for set up and tear down is important.
HOW DO YOU CHARGE? PER PERSON, BY THE HOUR OR FL AT FEE? Always good to know how your venue charges for rental. It's likely that facilities who include catering will charge a per person rate and venues without catering will charge a flat fee or hourly rental.
CAN I BRING IN MY OWN VENDORS OR DO I HAVE TO USE A PREFERRED VENDOR LIST SUPPLIED BY THE VENUE? Many venues will supply you with a list of their preferred wedding vendors to use. This can be helpful to the bride who needs direction and referrals but also a hinderance for brides who know exactly which vendors they'd like to use. Clarify with your venue whether it's required or not to use their specified vendors before you book.
CAN I BRING IN MY OWN ALCOHOL? Venues that don't carry their own liquor license often allow brides to bring in their own alcohol. This is not typically the norm, but there are a few venues out there with this option. Remember, if you do opt to bring in your own alcohol, you'll want to hire a bar service to tend to guests.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL THE SPACE HOLD (NOT JUST OFFICIAL CAPACIT Y) ACCORDING TO MY ROOM SET UP? Your room set up will greatly affect the amount of guests you can have at your wedding. Official capacities are for the fire marshal. You'll want to focus on how many guests you can fit into the room with a seated dinner, estate table, dance floor or buffet set up.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE VENUE RENTAL? Most venues have house items that are included in the cost of their facility rental like dance floors, tables, chairs, standard linens, etc. But, there are several venues that don't offer this and could amount to an additional cost to you. Ask before you book.
WHAT IS THE PARKING SITUATION? Valet parking, limited options, street parking or ample complimentary parking for guests are all important things to consider.
WILL THERE BE OTHER WEDDINGS HAPPENING ON THE SAME DAY? Depending on the size of the venue, it will be nice to know whether your event will be the only event happening on property or if there will be others. Other events may infringe on your time use of the venue or confusion for guests so best to know ahead of time and be prepared.
IF NOT, IS THERE AN ALCOHOL MINIMUM? Often venues with liquor licenses will have a bar minimum in addition to the cost of their venue rental. Best to have a heads up about this before you book for budgeting.

If it were possible to sum up the wedding day of Victoria and Joe in two words, they would be pure romance. This pretty affair was a celebration of true love and the heart of it shined through from the smallest details to the happy smiles of the bride and groom. The exchanging of stunning personalized vows, the bride’s very favorite part of the day, took place beneath a giant oak tree on Fort George Island. Victoria wore a stunning, custom-made wedding gown, her bridesmaids in pretty nautical navy. The bridal bouquet boasted flowers of poignant meaning, with coral peonies for happy marriage, apricot ranunculus symbolizing adoration, huckleberry for faith, and rosemary for remembrance. Following the picture perfect ceremony was a cocktail hour and reception under the stars, accompanied by curated entertainment by DJ Pro Show. Guests relaxed to acoustic tunes as they enjoyed classic southern fare by Chef’s Garden. Favorites like cornbread soufflé, bacon-wrapped scallops in maple glaze, and coconut jumbo shrimp were just a few of the features that had guests going back for seconds. Dessert boasted three wedding cakes with flavors to suit every pallet, and made-from scratch apple pies. The intimate party was rich with personal detail, not the least of which, odes to Joe and Victoria’s love of the sea and sailing. As the party continued on guests young and old cut loose on the dance floor, surrounding the bride and groom with the love and cheer of family and friends long into the autumn night.

It’s no secret that The Hostess City is pretty much the South’s go-to location for a good party. And the Halloween wedding of Marie and Dan was no exception. A costume party the night before primed the guests for what was to be an elegant affair at Savannah’s Vic’s on the River, but with fun Halloweeninspired twists. Treasured friends recited readings in honor the day before Marie and Dan exchanged vows. Marie wore a beautiful A-line gown paired with a Japanese headpiece and fur shawl for outside photos. Her bouquet by A to Zinnias was autumn-lovely with seasonal flowers in shades of pink, burgundy, sage and succulents. Gorgeous arrangements topped tables in the reception space, where the efforts of Bonnie Karr of First City Events and Joey McDermott of Vic's came to beautiful life. Friends and family enjoyed classic southern cuisine including cheddar grits, garlic mashed potatoes, grilled ribeye and collard greens. It was a night of dancing and laughter and romance. In honor of the spooky holiday, a Freddy Kreuger “slashed” cake and tarot card reader delighted guests long into the night. A cookie bar by Savannah’s Byrd Cookie Company proved to be the perfect end of the night sweet treat, before the bride and groom took their leave with friends and family for a Savannahstyle bout of after-party karaoke.

When Cassidy and Edward planned their nuptials they knew they wanted to offer their guests the perfect blend of classic elegance and carefree southern comfort. Adair Currie of Dairing Events made it her mission to bring this dream to life. Following an intimate outdoor ceremony at The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach, guests enjoyed a reception to remember amid the elegance of a chandelierdraped ballroom. The bride wore an open-backed gown of lace by Watters, her bridesmaids in pale peach chiffon. The groom and groomsmen sported khaki pants and chocolate brown vests with matching bowties by The Tie Bar. Floral arrangements by Rose of Sharon European Florist took the event to the next level. Gorgeous monogramed ribbon tributes to the bride, her mother, and grandmother adorned Cassidy’s bouquet – while individual monograms graced the bridesmaids’ personalized arrangements. Eucalyptus wreaths lent a decidedly upscale organic touch to both the ceremony and reception spaces, while tapered and cascading arrangements of roses, hydrangeas, spray roses, amaranths, eucalyptus and Queen Anne’s Lace brought Cassidy’s wedding flower dreams to vivid life. The multi-flavored cake was the perfect pairing to the carefully selected craft beer and scrumptious meal guests enjoyed following the cocktail hour. There are some weddings that manage to truly capture the warmth of family legacy. The nuptials between Erin and Stephan were such an affair. The ceremony took place riverside at the picturesque RiverMill Event Centre where a serene garden and aged brick ruins draped in café market lights offered the romantic outdoor setting that Erin had always dreamed of. The bride walked down the aisle to Cinderella’s "So This is Love," wearing a lovely trumpet gown by Christos. The groom was handsome in a dark gray suit and black bowtie by Vera Wang. Not to be left out, Erin and Stephan’s dogs walked down the aisle sporting flower-wreath collars. In a particularly sweet twist, both the bride and groom’s fathers officiated, the handmade chuppah above made from birch branches from Erin’s childhood home. The whole affair was perfect as could be. Following the ceremony, guests made their way to a cocktail hour complete with lawn games. Chic farm-style tables boasted a meal by Chef Jamie Keating and rustic wedding cake by Fran Papenfuss. Eucalyptus garlands and artfully-vased sprigs of wildflowers, peonies, garden roses, bleeding hearts, and greenery adorned the tables in a fresh romantic touch. Following dinner and a traditional Hora, Entertainment by Complete Atlanta got the party in full swing. It was a night to remember, laced in tender moments and memories guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Beach weddings are a special kind of romantic - so when Erica and Scott discovered the LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort in Naples, FL, they knew that the elegant space was the perfect location for their once in a lifetime affair. And they were right! Following a gorgeous ceremony featuring both the bride and groom’s pastor and rabbi, the newlyweds joined their guests for a black-tie party to remember. The newlyweds managed to sneak away from the reception, expertly designed by the team at At Last Wedding + Event Design, to take a few tender portraits at sunset. Accompanying the couple was their beloved pooch, outfitted in a coordinating floral collar designed by Planned Perfection. Inside, centerpieces of driftwood punctuated with fresh flowers brought the outdoors in, as guests enjoyed scrumptious fare and the bride’s favorite – Publix wedding cake! Just as Erica and Scott so wanted, the sizable affair managed a warm, intimate tone, from the picturesque surroundings to the timeless and inviting décor. Robert Williamson Band, an eight-piece ensemble supplied the perfect live performance backdrop for dancing the night away - and dance they did, the bride stunning in a strapless mermaid gown by Rivini. When finally the last toast was made, the last turn on the dance floor turned, the last peel of happy laughter heard, the bride and groom were wished well and set off for happily ever after – sure to remember the perfect wedding for a lifetime to come. It was a wedding destined to happen. On a beautiful May day Kristin and Josh said 'I do' in front of their closest friends and loved ones at the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd. The bride wore a timeless lace gown by Carrie’s Bridal Collection, her bridesmaids beautiful in dresses by Amsale. The bride and groom’s good friend, Father Frank presided over the ceremony, a traditional Catholic Mass, even gracing the couple with a surprise serenade of "Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof – which would go on to become one of the bride and groom’s favorite moments. A reception at Tolemac Farm followed, the perfect venue to capture the essence of elegant intimacy the couple wanted for their guests. Wreaths of evergreen set the tone for the event décor – representing everlasting love and celebration. The cocktail hour featured Center Cut Catering’s famous applewood smoked candied bacon – a sure crowd favorite – as well as pimento cheese puff pastry vol-auvents and fried lobster lollipops. The reception offered iceberg wedge salads, an andoullie sausage shrimp and grits station, garlic smashed potatoes, and various other scrumptious delights. Guests topped off the culinary experience with dualflavored wedding cake by Cakes by Carissa and bread pudding wedding favors. Tunes by MSA Entertainment got the party hopping, and Kristin and Josh partied the night away with their guests beneath the picturesque North Georgia sunset.

The boho glam wedding of Jaime and Nick was an ocean-side Sanibel Island wedding absolutely bursting with sweetness and light. The excitement of the bride and groom were palpable as Jaime walked barefoot down the aisle with her father to the ukulele version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Her bouquet of cascading flowers and ribbons by Hollie Raulerson danced on the wind. She wore a timeless Nicole Miller gown with crystal-covered bodice and airy skirts that looked made for the beach. Swarovski beaded barefoot sandals made the bohemian look perfection. Bright blue sky and fluffy clouds overhead, the couple swore to love one another forever with heartfelt personalized vows beneath a windswept flower-draped arbor. A cocktail commenced in a whimsical setting of high-low tables and chairs draped in sequin linens of blush and lavender. Elleson Events took bohemian chic to a new level with a reception tent that boasted both round and farm-style tables covered in antique candlesticks, mismatched colored glasses, golden flatware and bursting, fragrant flour arrangements, all of it in exotic shades of purple, pink, cream, yellow and orange. Flower-draped swings invited guests to relax and smile. Sparkling chandeliers added a touch of glam. It was a delicious feast for the eyes. And speaking of feasting, guests enjoyed an incredible array of scrumptious butler-passed hors d’oeuvres before digging in to an elegant meal planned by the groom and a wedding cake by Lady Cakes. DJ Ceron played all the right tunes to get guests of all ages onto the dance floor long after sunset.

Adrienne and Keith's wedding style took southern posh to a whole new level. It was inarguably one of Atlanta’s most elegant weddings of the year, coordinated by ellyB Events and a host of vendors who brought the couple’s ultimate bridal vision to life. The wedding was stylish before it started, with silk tri-fold invitations encrusted with Swarovski crystal by Carmody & Company sent to two hundred honored guests. The festivities as well as guest lodging took place at the incomparable Georgian Terrace Hotel where attendees were greeted with personalized welcome boxes in their rooms. The winter wedding was warmly sophisticated – the bride and groom exchanging vows in the grand ballroom in front of friends and loved ones from far and wide. Adrienne was stunning in a jewel-encrusted mermaid gown by Lazaro, complete with organza skirts, chapel train and cathedral-length veil. Jeweled Badgley Mischka heels were the perfect accessory. Her bridesmaids, two sisters included, attended in blush floor-length gowns, while the groom and groomsmen were sophisticated in slim black tuxes by Vera Wang. Andy Beach & Co. managed to make the Georgian even more stunning with copious, five-foot arrangements of hydrangeas, garden roses, calla lilies, orchids and more in shades of blush, cream, rose gold and gold. The ten-piece brass Infinity Show Band brought the party to life with guests hopping between the dance floor and Shutterbooth Atlanta for photo souvenirs. The rustic-chic March wedding of Jazmine and Kevin took place at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. It was an elegant, yet intimate celebration with friends and family in excited attendance from all over the world. The bride and groom exchanged 'I dos,' Jazmine in a gown by Ines DiSanto, attended by bridesmaids in pretty shades of blush and grey. Following the heartfelt ceremony, guests adjourned to the cocktail hour in a skylight-covered courtyard where they were invited to cut loose and relax with fresh coconuts, hors d’oeuvres, and stylish flip-flops for the ladies. The reception offered stunning views of the ocean where simple, yet glamorous flower arrangements of blush and cream by Ines Naftali accentuated the historic venue to perfection. Bistro lighting twinkled overhead as Jazmine and her father wowed their guests with a choreographed father-daughter dance on the checkered dance floor. Scrumptious fare by Delicious Catering featured lobster crab cake and strawberry field salad appetizers, a main entrÊe of steak and lobster aside plantain mash, and dessert shooters with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. We Take the Cake outdid themselves with a lemon raspberry cake that kept guests coming back for more. DJ Don Hot entertained with the perfect playlist as the bride and groom partied with their guests from the lounge area and putting green to the dance floor, precious memories made with hearts full and laughter ringing long into the night. There’s nothing quite like the romantic elegance of a traditional wedding. Tara and Justin were married on a beautiful November day at the iconic Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine. The bride wore an A-line gown by Justin Alexander boasting scalloped lace over pale golden underlay. Her large ivory, champagne and blush bouquet dripped with hydrangeas and roses. Bridesmaids attended with bouquets of burgundy dahlias, ivory hydrangeas and roses, perfectly complimenting floor-length merlot dresses by Alfred Angelo. Justin and his groomsmen were handsome in Black tuxedos by Vera Wang. Following the 'I dos' guests enjoyed a trolley tour of St. Augustine before a cocktail hour and reception at The Casa Monica Resort & Spa. The exquisite work of Francesca Cooper of The Eventful Gals and the brides many talented vendors were evident in the elegance of the reception celebration. From the moment the new Mr. and Mrs., were introduced to the room, the party started and didn’t let up. A seated meal followed by a four-tiered multi-flavored wedding cake left guests talking for months after the affair, while David Hanscom of Y? Entertainment played just the right tunes as the celebration shifted to the dance floor. From the first dance to the bouquet and garter-toss, it was a day of romance and fun, a genuine party perfectly suited for a happily ever after.

There are some wedding venues that particularly lend themselves to elegance. The Atlanta History Center’s Swan House is one of them. Joey and Katie knew it was the perfect historical setting, a grand backdrop in the middle of the city, but private enough to feel tucked away and deliciously exclusive. Guests entered the outdoor celebration via the sweeping front staircase of the house, earning them a breathtaking view of the grounds. The bride wore a gown by Maggie Sottero as she joined her groom for the ceremony, presided over by close family friend and pastor, Matthew Mitchell. Once the ceremony was complete, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the house gardens, the bride and groom soon joining for the reception at the back of the house. Fare by Bold American Events & Catering boasted three food stations with selections like shrimp and grits, pork tenderloin, and macaroni and cheese to name a few. A four tier cake by O' How Sweet did not disappoint. Following the meal, the party moved to the dance floor where the bride and groom celebrated the night away to entertainment by The Free Band. It was a night to remember, the sizable affair intimate in the close fellowship of family and friends and vows made to last a lifetime. There’s nothing quite so festive or romantic as a destination wedding, just the kind of affair that Mitzi and Jonathan enjoyed with their 50 closest friends and loved ones in Davie, FL. The day, planned by Beauty in the Making, began with an intimate lakeside ceremony on a green lawn that perfectly captured the quaint and quiet setting Mitzi had always dreamed of. As guests had come to celebrate from all over the world, it was the perfect opportunity to honor the bride and groom’s upbringings – Mitzi having been raised in Mexico, and Jonathan in Spain’s Canary Islands. Mitzi wore a handmade dress designed especially for her in Mexico, while her bridesmaids attended in pretty dresses of peach and coral. Following the ceremony, a reception that reflected the newlyweds’ most treasured values was in full swing. Keeping with tradition, paella by D'Paella Gourmet was offered alongside a stunning cake by E&M Sweets. Both were big hits. Flowers by Divine Design Flowers took the look of the affair to the next level with soft and elegant arrangements that had guests talking for weeks after. More than any single detail, it was the fellowship and family ties that made the wedding so perfect for the bride and groom. Dancing to latin music and many a fan-favorite, the celebration was punctuated with heartfelt moments that the bride and groom had been after from the start.

ABOUT OUR WEDDING Our love story began at first sight, the first day of our first class in college and our connection was instant. Immediately after graduating we had a June wedding in the small and quaint Methodist Church in Bartow, GA where my parents also married. I wore my mother's original Bianca wedding gown and my precious daddy preached the service with tear filled eyes. We headed off to our honeymoon in the Blue Ridge Mountains and visited the Biltmore. We learned very early on what my mother meant by "all you need is love and jello." Life may have been simple but with true love a part of it you can survive just fine. BEST WEDDING PL ANNING ADVICE Keep everything simple – less is always more! In these days of mental overload from viewing so many photographs online and on social media, don't forget about the love that started the "wedding bells" ringing in the first place. Forget about what everyone else is doing and think about only the two of you! Begin your story the right way, with no regrets. Remember that if anything goes wrong, you are usually the only person who knows it. WORDS OF WISDOM FOR A HAPPY MARRIAGE Never forget that the person you fell in love with is still "in there!" Time changes a lot of things. Always travel back in your mind and heart to the very beginning, to the happiest memories you made!
