1 THURSDAY 8/22 8 a.m. – Noon New Student Move-in Residence Halls 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Orientation Check-in Gilman Fountain 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Campus Tours Tours will depart every 30 minutes on the hour and half-hour. Comfortable shoes recommended. Last tour departs 12:30 p.m. Meet at Thorne Hall Patio 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Academic Department Information Fair Faculty from academic programs will be available to answer your questions at the open-house style session. 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Your Student’s In College…Now What? Learn more about what you can do to support your student in their transition to this new environment, both academically and personally, from the Dean of the College and the Dean of Students. Thorne Hall 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Mock Classes with Faculty (see options on orange panel) 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. President’s Reception for All Families Meet President Veitch, other Oxy parents, and academic and student affairs deans and staff at this casual mixer. 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Welcome to Oxy! All-Community Celebration The official Orientation kickoff. Hillside Theater
Noon – 1 p.m. First-Generation Pre-Orientation Session & Lunch Oxy is proud to welcome first-generation college students - any students whose parents did not complete a four-year college degree - to our campus. First generation students and their guests are welcome to join us to learns about resources available to them and enjoy a hosted lunch. Lower Herrick
6:45 p.m. – 11 p.m. Hollywood Bowl Parents Excursion This event required pre-registration; visit Orientation check-in to inquire about the ticket wait-list. Transportation will depart campus at 6:45 p.m. and return at the conclusion of the concert, approximately 11:00 p.m. Departs promptly at 6:45 p.m. from Collins House
2 FRIDAY 8/23 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Campus Tours Tours will depart every 30 minutes on the hour and half-hour. Comfortable shoes recommended. Last tour departs 10:30 a.m. Meet at Thorne Hall Patio 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. EcoGreen Tours This fun, informative tour highlights Oxy’s green efforts including the Green Bean, FEAST and pollinator gardens, the 1 MW solar array, Bike Share, and other initiatives. Comfortable shoes and a refillable water bottle recommended. One tour will start at 9 a.m.and one will start at 10 a.m. Meet at Thorne Hall Patio 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Families of Student Athletes Session Learn about services provided to studentathletes. Mosher 1 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Disability Services Presentation Students with disabilities and their families are invited to come meet Disability Services staff members who will be working with them throughout the year. 11 a.m. – Noon You Heard It Here First! Student Panel for Parents Find out how current students balance work, studies, campus living and more. Choi Auditorium Noon – 3 p.m. Campus Resources Fair Various departments and programs from around campus will be available to inform incoming students and families of the resources they offer and how they can be accessed. Dining Hours
3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sexual Respect & Your Student Come meet Jennifer Broomfield, Title IX coordinator, and Maureen Frapwell, survivor advocate. You will hear about Oxy’s affirmative consent and sexual misconduct policies, as well as about the resources available to your student. Choi Auditorium
The Marketplace is open for continuous dining service during Orientation from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m daily, with the following entree hours: Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. Lunch: 11 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Dinner: 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The Tiger Cooler will be open Monday — Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Green Bean will be open on Friday (8/23) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; regular hours resume on Monday (8/26).
3 p.m. – 3:50 p.m. Oxy Traditions From Io Triumphe to senior comps, learn what sets the Oxy experience apart. Lower Herrick

5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Sweet Send-Offs Take the time to have a sweet treat with your student as you say your goodbyes. This festive event concludes the Family Orientation Program; family members are kindly asked to depart campus by 7:00 p.m., as the remainder of the schedule is for students only. Mosher 1 Nuts and Bolts of Student Wellness Learn about the services available to students at Emmons Student Wellness Center and have your questions answered about student health insurance. Johnson 203 Family Panel A panel of current family members will share their Oxy experiences and give insights on how they have supported their students during the transition to college.
