OCTOBER 16-17, 2015
WELCOME HOME! Dear Tiger, Welcome to Family Weekend and Homecoming 2015! I’m thrilled to welcome you back home. In this program, you’ll find all of the information you need to have a fun-filled and rewarding experience. Scan the schedule of activities on pages 2-5, and you’ll see there’s a lot to enjoy this weekend. There are many opportunities to cheer on our Tiger athletes, including the football game against Chapman University on Saturday night. Also cheer on our men’s soccer team against Whittier, the women’s volleyball team against Southwestern (Texas) and Caltech, and the men’s water polo team against Pomona Pitzer. Show up early—the Tiger Tailgate and Oswald’s Carnival are sure to be great fun. There’s something for every Tiger in this weekend’s diverse programming. Take part in a campus tour to see what’s new, or visit an open house. I recommend that you attend How Oxy Works in 2015 to learn how Oxy’s senior administration approach their work. And, of course, I encourage you to soak up the vocal stylings of our worldfamous Glee Club at their Family Weekend and Homecoming concert. The academic year is well underway and I’m confident that you’ll find our students fully engaged in their academic career. Get a taste of college life by participating in Student for a Day, an opportunity to attend classes with students and find out what it’s really like to be in the classroom at Oxy. If you’ve toted along the little ones, Oxy Children’s Theater is a sure hit (with those young at heart, too). Throughout the weekend, Oxy staff and volunteers will be on hand to help. We look forward to spending time with you this weekend. Have a great visit. GO TIGERS! Io Triumphe!

BILL TOM ’51 Tom won the elite vault title at the 1949 Amateur Athletic Union Championships and became, at age 33, the oldest member of the 1956 U.S. Olympic team in Melbourne. He later established Taiwan’s first gymnastic team and taught and coached at L.A. Trade Tech for more than 30 years.
