Ne wp ort h e t h e r you’re a s ea s o n e d boater or just getting your feet wet in the industry, the Newport Beach Boat show has a vessel for every lifestyle, activity, and budget. With around 150 vessels being showcased, there is deďŹ nitely something for everyone!

The Newport Beach Boat show was greeted with some gorgeous weather, allowing the newly renovated Lido Marina to shine and every boat in the water to sparkle. Amongst the sparkle, were the vessels and happy staff of Alexander Marine USA. With gray carpeting that acts like a runway, plush palm trees along the dock sides, and the smiling faces, the Alexander Marine
B O A T S H O W booth was sure to be a stop on the top of the list. This year Alexander Marine set up their showcase a little different. Three distinct displays were showcased separated by brands: Carver, Regal, and Galeon in one, Pursuit and Aquila in another, and Ocean Alexander and Azimut complementing each other in the third. The Ocean Alexander was an absolute eye

catcher, at the length of 85 feet the crowds were drawn to it and when inside, the interior offers everything from light, space and luxury. Alongside the OA were both the 50’ and the 55’ Azimuts, which lets the Italian materials of these boats speak for themselves. Nearby, was the gorgeous 44’ Aquila. The Aquila is always a showstopper due to its unique
features. Being a pure-bred power catamaran, you couldn’t help but hop aboard. With the Newport Beach boat show at an end on Sunday, it was another successful event for the team at Alexander Marine USA. The weather was gorgeous, the boats were a hit, and the friendly staff

he San Diego International boat show was hosted at the Spanish Landing Park, just across the way from the San Diego Airport. This venue has proven to be an ideal location for Southern California boaters to convene, and with the show being held the second week of June, what a wonderful way to really kick off summer! Alexander Marine USA once again
set up two displays, one included the highly anticipated 85’ Ocean Alexander Motor Yacht, and one display featuring the new 2018 510 Galeon Skydeck. Both boats were a crowd favorite with lines of people just to get a glance on board. With the Galeon in particular making its Southern California debut, this vessel received an abundance of enthusiasm. This weekend was filled with great weather, enthusiastic boaters, and an generous amount of great boating products to fit your every need. With the weekend coming to an end, the staff at Alexander Marine USA left the boat show with nothing but smiles from ear to ear, being able to stick a “sold” sign on the gorgeous 50 Azimut Flybridge was a highlight! Having so many vessels, and with just a short amount of time, we hope to see you at our next Southern California boat show in September located in San Pedro, California.

Alexander Marine hosts an annual Demo Day Event the same May weekend each year. This event serves as an opportunity to give boaters and future boaters
a demo on their next boat in a stress-free environment. Sales and service staff were on site to answer and troubleshoot any and all questions. The 2018 event was held on May 19th at all three Alexander Marine store locations: Seattle, Newport Beach, and San Diego. Each waterfront showroom had a unique display of boats offering vessels ranging from 28’-85’, bowriders to moto-
ryachts with various options in between. The Saturday afternoon saw crowds come and go and lots of boat rides to be had, all while guests enjoyed great food and refreshing drinks. Alexander Marine hosts monthly events at all locations and would love to see you at the next event, contact us for more information.

Debbie ’ s DOCKSIDE DISH In each issue, “Debbie’s Dockside Dish” features a different boat friendly recipe straight from the galley of Debbie Groesbeck, a seasoned boater, foodie, and an HR executive at Sur La Table in Seattle, Washington.

These tasty chicken skewers are accompanied by an addicting peanut sauce. This combination can be served as an appetizer or add some jasmine rice, a cool cucumber side salad and you’ve got dinner in a snap!

Chicken Marinade:
3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter ½ cup soy sauce (regular or low sodium) ½ cup fresh squeezed lime juice 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar 2 tablespoons curry powder ½ teaspoon garlic powder ¼ teaspoon ground ginger 6 chicken breasts cut into long strips or 2 lbs of chicken tenders Wooden chicken skewers (soaked in water ½ hour prior to use) Warm up grill or grill pan on medium heat. In a medium mixing bowl, combine all marinade ingredients. Place chicken in a gallon zippered plastic bag and add marinade, making sure to thoroughly coat all chicken pieces. Refrigerate at least two hours and/or overnight. Remove chicken from marinade (discard marinade) and weave chicken pieces on wooden skewers. Cook chicken on the grill or grill pan, turning occasionally until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. Remove to a serving platter and serve with peanut dipping sauce.

2 teaspoons vegetable oil 3 cloves of garlic, finely minced 1 ½ teaspoons of fresh ginger, grated on small grater or microplane 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce 2 ½ tablespoons hoisin sauce 2/3 cup water + more water if sauce is too thick 4 tablespoons peanut butter In a small saucepan, add vegetable oil over medium low heat. Add garlic and ginger and sauté for 1 minute or until fragrant, but be careful not to burn. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer until sauce has thickened—approximately 5-7 minutes. If sauce is too thick, add a small amount of water to loosen sauce. Place finished sauce in a decorative bowl and serve with Chicken Satay Skewers.

the
annual Alexander Marine Rendezvous was held June 14th-16th in iconic Roche Harbor, Washington. The event was a weekend of enjoyment for all of our Alexander Marine family of boaters, encompassing all Ocean Alexander, Azimut, Tiara, Galeon, Aquila, Regal, Carver, and Pursuit owners. The turnout for the 2018 Rendezvous was the best ever with over 70 Boats and 250+ guests. Each year this event is themed and this year Under the Sea was the chosen décor. T h e theme was very apparent as you
walked the docks of the marina. Attendees spent a tremendous amount of time decorating their aft decks and creating one of a kind costumes to showcase at our annual costume dinner party! The dedication and intricacy of decorations was quite impressive all weekend. A sandy beach outfitted with a complete treasure chest was created on one swim step, others used actual seaweed to hang from rails. It was common to see inflatable whales and turtles and lots of festive sea life taking over. This year’s theme allowed people to really let their creativity show.

The weekend festivities kicked off with The World is Your OysterOyster Shucking & Tasting presented by Westcott Bay ShellďŹ sh Co. and Deb Nolan Catering, giving attendees the chance to shuck their own oysters and taste plenty. The Maiden VoyageHappy Hour (sponsored by Sea Magazine) followed, which was held in the beautiful pavil-

ion adjacent to the hotel, offering a beautiful view of the marina through the wall of windows that were pushed open to let the fresh air in. The food was scrumptious, particularly the enormous seafood tower as well as tray passed drinks and hors d’oeuvres. The night was fantastic and concluded with a beautiful sunset, and the daily Colors tradition put on by Roche
Harbor Marina Staff! On Friday morning the events continued with a delicious Champagne Breakfast on the docks in the very well decorated tents- on the walls --bubbles of balloons made their way to the roof of the tent where the blue streamers were placed perfectly to look like water. Seashells adorned the tables with nautical rope, sand, and
beautiful flowers. Guests enjoyed the beautiful buffet of fruit, pastries, sausage, bacon, egg scrambles, famous donuts from Lime Kiln Café, and of course Mimosa’s! We had a day filled with fun and educationMoor-ning Seminar with Seahawk Paint; Be a Little Shell-Fish – Shrimp vs. Prawn Cooking class with the wonderful Chef Shaw –
sponsored by NW Yachting Magazine; Knot Your Average Class- Ladies Boat Handling Seminar on the 85’ Ocean Alexander taught by the one and only Niel Steenkamp – sponsored by Philbrook’s Boatyard; All A-boat Cruising – Sea Trials aboard the new Azimut, Tiara, Regal Models and the 70e Ocean Alexander. We were fortunate to have the president of Azimut-Benetti
USA, Federico Ferrante aboard the Azimut during Sea Trials as well as attending the weekend festivities, to educate those on these new brands we are carrying and answer any questions. The day was concluded with a wonderful dinner on the lawn sponsored by Global Marine Insurance, which was followed by the After-Hours Seal-abrationSponsored by Empress Gin on the 70e Ocean Alexander and 85’ Ocean Alexander. Saturday morning was a bit slower after a long night of Seal-abrating, enjoying another spectacu-
lar breakfast on the docks. Followed by morning seminars including Pacific Coast Yachting Services. Chef Shaw – (Sponsored by NW Yachting) was kind enough to offer another cooking class on Shrimp vs. Prawnsso many things to learn and great tips to enhance the flavor of what you are cooking, the wine that was paired with the meals was just fabulous- and who would have thought Sweet Shrimp Beignets would be something to be craved to this day! These events were followed by Anchors Away Golf Chipping Contestwhich allowed guests to practice their aiming skills at the good-natured Alexander Marine Brokers! This was followed by the World-Famous Dinghy Pier-ade with a record setting turn-out and the
largest dinghy parade to ever happen at Roche Harbor! We handed out the famous AM USA margarita’s and announced trivia questions for those in the parade to win prizes and just have fun! For each dinghy in the parade, Alexander Marine USA pledged to donate $50 to the San Juan Preservation Trust. With a record of 50 dinghies, we were able to present a check of $2500 to the Trust. The Rendezvous weekend concluded with the O-fish-al Under the Sea Dinner – Sponsored by Boat Insurance Agency. The guests went all out with their costumes and were tremendously creative, we had mermaids, mer-men, King Triton, sharks, jellyfish, sea otters, orca whale pods, and more. The best
dressed award went to the King family of ‘Lanikai’ who dressed up as a family discovered under the sea from an ancient shipwreck. The highly sought after Dinghy Parade trophy was given to the Rogers from ‘Venti’ for their jellyfish costumers and decor and the Aft Deck-Oration trophy was awarded to the Farley’s from ‘Yassou’ (all pictured right). A night of dancing led by the amazing DJ Bandon Ghorley was the perfect way to round out the weekend festivities. We had the absolute best weekend, with wonderful people, unforgettable memories, and incredible weather to top it all off. We cannot wait for the 2019 Alexander Marine Rendezvous! We look forward to seeing you there.
