ll eyes were on the 2017 Ocean Alexander 70e as it made it’s West oast ebut at the rst ever Southern California Boat Show in San Pedro, California. The Southern California Boat Show, formerly the Newport Beach Boat Show was hosted at a brand new, freshly remodeled venue, the Cabrillo Way Marina. The fresh, wide, concrete docks brought a more welcoming and spacious vibe over the homey, wooden docks of the Lido Way Marina. San Pedro is located about 40 miles northwest of Newport Beach but the distance did not prevent boat show visitors from making the drive through the fascinating shipping “berths” of Los Angeles Harbor. With eight boats on display, the Alexan-
der Marine booth was the largest in the show. The American-built Ocean Alexander 70e was the real show-stopper of the weekend. Attendees were eager to see the new, modern look of the evolution series. A new Ocean Alexander 72 was also on display for the more contemporary, classic Ocean Alexander fans. Three Regal models, two of our trade boats, and a brokerage boat also accompanied the Ocean Alexanders. The wide array of boats in different sizes and classes proved to be a bene cial showcase of the versatility within the Alexander Marine line up. he weekend was lled with great weather, enthusiastic boaters, and an unrivaled offering of great products. For more information on the Southern California Boat Show or an upcoming shows, please contact us.

BURKDOLL A Q&A with the Business Development Manager of Pursuit Boats.
A L E X A N D E R M A R I N E U S A Newsletter | Fall 2016 | 16
Q: What makes Pursuit stand out from other boat manufacturers? A. I believe it involves much more than producing a product of exceptional quality, durability and extreme attention to detail. It involves a special culture in our company with everyone working hard every day to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Q: If you weren’t working in the marine industry, what would you be doing? A. I, no doubt, would be involved in some part of aviation. I’m fortunate to have started flying at the age of 16, I had a great career with a major aircraft manufacturer before I became involved in the marine industry and today my flying allows me to make the best use of my time in attending boat shows and visiting our dealers.
on, ying with his grandson avin.
Q: What is your job, job title and your job description? A. My responsibilities at Pursuit Boats have always been focused on facilitating the sale of our products at the wholesale level to our domestic dealer network and to support their efforts in promoting, selling and servicing our product to retail customers who, over the years, have joined our Pursuit family of owners. My job title today is Business Development Manager. That has involved growing and expanding our domestic dealer network into open markets and developing their enthusiasm and their capabilities concerning the presentation and sale of our product. Q: How did you first get involved with Pursuit and how long have you worked for Pursuit? A. I joined Pursuit as a result of meeting Leon Slikkers, our Chairman, twenty-five years ago. I immediately embraced his passion for delivering high quality in everything we do and I have been there ever since. Q: What are the newest additions to the Pursuit fleet? A. Our newest models include the new DC235 & the DC295 Dual Consoles and an all new S408 Sport Center Console. These three new models are positioned within the two fastest growing segments in our business today. They offer exceptional performance and comfort along with the versatility they provide for fishing or an enjoyable day of cruising or day boating. That’s what our customers want today.
Q: What is one thing you wish everyone knew about Pursuit? A. I often take customers through our plant facility and they, of course, recognize the many things that are special about our product - but they also see the things that are special in “who we are”. This is something that goes beyond the fiberglass that I wish everyone could see. Q: What would you tell someone who is interested in purchasing a Pursuit? A: I would tell them that no one does a better job in delivering yacht-like quality, durability, and reliability. We also are not new to the business and we have always made it a point to “do the right thing” by our customers, our dealers and our suppliers. This is written into our list of corporate values. Q: Are you a dog or cat person? A: My wife and I have two long hair dachshunds who keep us entertained every day. They are the luckiest animals alive.
