Miami Welcome to

M

Miami Beach is the place to ďŹ nd beautiful beaches, vibrant culture and of course, the 29th annual Yachts Miami Beach. With more than 1.2 million square feet of in-water yacht displays, this premier boat show took over Miami Beach with hundreds of eager buyers. Companies from all over the world brought their best products, but it was Ocean Alexander that stood out among the rest with an impressive eet of luxury yachts. The yachts on display included the American made 70e, the popular 85 and the sophisticated 90. Additionally, the stunning 120 and two versions of the 100, the skylounge and the 100 with an on-deck master, were featured. Ocean Alexander saw record attendance as people excitedly toured the boats in show. With a 54% attendance increase from the previous year, Ocean Alexander drew boaters to Miami from all over the world. As a result, several yachts were sold, making Yachts Miami Beach an overwhelming success.

M E E T K I M G E O R G E, Co-Manager of Pacific Maritime Title

Q&A

The PMT staff. Left to Right – Teresa, Amanda, Andrea, Molly, Kim, Tanya, Leann.

Q: What is your job, job title and your job description?

Q: How and when did you first get involved in the marine industry?

Q: Briefly explain what Pacific Maritime Title does.

Q: How long have you worked for Pacific Maritime Title?

A: My official job title is Co-Manager, as Tanya Lage and I recently took over the management responsibilities to provide Molly Holden with more time for traveling! I handle the file audit's for my team, while also handling my own closings and disbursement of funds on vessel transactions.

A: Pacific Maritime Title handles the research of vessel ownership, disbursement of funds, and we handle the state title/registration, and Coast Guard Documentation for the vessel ownership.

A: I started as a receptionist at another Marine Title Company located in Seattle in 1998, and worked there until the owner stopped handling funds in 2005. At that time I took a leave and ended up coming to work at Pacific Maritime Title about 4 months after they opened in 2005.

A: I have worked at Pacific Maritime Title for 12 years and I've been a vessel title agent for 19 years total.

“She has acquired a reputation for her outstanding customer service skills, her knowledge of state and federal regulations, and her willingness to tackle the most challenging title issues. She has a strong client following that has come to rely upon her expertise, professional ethics and good humor in all vessel transactions.” -pacificmaritimetitle.com

Q: What documents are required when selling a boat?

A: The seller & representing listing broker should have a copy of the current Coast Guard Documentation on file, as well as a copy of the current state registration if applicable. They should also have copies of the state registration/title, or other ownership paperwork for all tenders included in the sale. If the owner is deceased, the sellers representative and broker should have a copy of the death certificate, and copy of letters testamentary or other appropriate legal documents, if ownership was not shown as Joint Tenants With Right of Survivorship.

Q: What documents are required when purchasing a boat?

A: The buyer will want to have finances ready, and understand that funds will need to be sent via wire transfer for closing. The buyer should be prepared to pay the proper sales tax amount, or have the correct State Identification to show they are a non resident for any type of tax exemption. Different states have a variety of requirements. They should also be thinking about what vessel name they will want for their new vessel.

Q: What are some of the benefits of using a title company like PMT?

A: By using a title company, all parties are further protected by having an outside third party to complete the ownership and lien searches. Our job is to be responsible for the preparation and recording of the titling and Coast Guard documentation paperwork. Closing companies such as ours are also ensuring all funds Jamie, True, Kim, and Joe are good cleared funds prior to transferring the ownership out of the sellers name.

Q: If you weren’t working in the marine industry, what would you be doing?

A: I would be a volleyball coach, although I've been told by many that I could be a counselor! I can't imagine not being a part of this community, my family has always been in the marine industry. My father, John George, ran many ship yards in the Seattle area for over 45 years; my brother Rob George is a marine diesel mechanic that works all over the Northwest, Alaska, and West Coast; and my brother Troy George is currently the dock master at Stabbert Yacht and ship in Ballard!

Q: What are some of your hobbies?

A: I love boating of course, camping, coaching & playing volleyball, but most importantly being a Mom to my son Joe who is now working at PMT to learn about the business, and my Daughter True Grace.

T

he Sunroad Marina Boat Show was a first for Alexander Marine, and let’s just say it won’t be our last! The show took place January 26th-29th, 2017 in San Diego, CA. Luckily, despite the downpour of rain the weekend before, ‘Sunny San Diego’ lived up to its name for the 4 day winter show. Whether you are into sailing, fishing, yachting, or even paddle boarding, this show had it all! The Alexander Marine display had a little bit of everything as well. Our lineup included the 70e Ocean Alexander, 46’ Regal Sports Coupe, 32’ Pursuit Off Shore and a 2014 31’ Tiara Open, a gorgeous trade-in. The 70e wasn’t the only, but it was our main attraction at our display and kept our staff busy. Everyone wanted to get a taste of our latest Ocean Alexander made right here is USA! For those who came and stayed till closing, you couldn’t miss the gorgeous sunset that gave a picture-perfect end to each day. As we get ready to say goodbye to winter, the next stop for us will be the Newport Boat Show located right near our office at Lido Marina Village. So, come see us on April 27th-30th, you won’t want to miss our lineup!

It’s Raining BOATS

W

hen you hear Pomona, California, you don’t always immediately think “boat show”. But after the Los Angeles Boat Show moved to the Fairplex in Pomona last January, you might rethink the city. This wasn’t the first time the show has been held in Pomona. It actually made an appearance at the Fairplex about twenty years ago. Unfortunately show-goers and vendors didn’t have the warmest “welcome home” from mother nature over the weekend. Flood warnings, high winds, and torrential rain came through the inland city but didn’t discourage determined guests. The Los Angeles Boat Show was altogether new for Alexander Marine, being our first time attending the show as well as the Fairplex in Pomona. The Fairplex is a large multi-building venue that hosts everything from conventions to fairs. On display from Alexander Marine was the 2016 28’ Regal Express and the 2017 23’ Pursuit Center Console. Typically these sport fishing and cruising boats might get overshadowed in an in-water show by a larger motoryacht, but not here. These boats shined as some of the largest boats in the show and enabled visitors to truly see the versatility and spaciousness of each vessel. The Los Angeles Boat Show will definitely be on the event list for Alexander Marine for years to come. The entire show was a great environment for all types of boaters to be able to experience and feel a diverse selection of boats. From cruisers to pontoons, the LA Boat Show has it all.

PURSUIT S 328

THE SPORT LINE GETS A NEW MIDSIZED ENTRANT THAT FACILITATES CATCHING FISH, RAYS OR A PLEASANT VIBE.

I

T’S A CENTER console and has all the trappings of a nice fishing boat, but it also has

seating for a dozen or more people and many amenities of a dayboat. The Pursuit S 328 can pull double duty without breaking a sweat. Heck, given the berth — it converts to an aft-facing sofa — and the head below, it can pull triple duty for a couple on a weekend getaway. With lines, amenities, styling, and a hardtop and windshield system borrowed from its larger Sport line mate, the S 408, the S 328 has taken a proven and popular concept and made it accessible to even more people. We’ve probably used this before, but the S 328 is a bit of a reverse mullet: business in the back and party in the front. But thanks to two folddown cockpit seats, the boat can be party in the front and back. When the seats are folded up, the cockpit is a fishing arena. A transom livewell and two in-floor fishboxes are the obvious fishing amenities. Outriggers protrude from the hardtop. Rod holders are built into the transom and gunwales. Rod storage can be found under the gunwales and belowdecks on either side of the berth. An optional portside dive door can help to land the really big ones. In the bow, a U-shaped wraparound lounge hugs the hull sides and provides seating for four or five passengers, while a forward-facing settee is built into the forward part of the helm console. Amidships, under an integrated hardtop and behind a custom windshield, is the helm, which houses two 12-inch Garmin multifunction displays, engine controls (including the optional Yamaha Helm Master steering system), a VHF radio, an optional autopilot and more. A bench helm seat faces the dash. It’s plenty big enough for two people and can fit

36

SEAMAGAZINE.COM APRIL 2017

three in a squeeze. A refrigerator is built in under the starboard side of the seat console. Owners can opt to add a grill in the cockpit, for grilled fish straight out of the ocean. On the transom hang twin Yamaha F300 outboards (though the Pursuit literature indicates owners could opt for 350s). That’s plenty of power to get to the fish quickly, and they’re quiet enough not to interrupt a harbor cruise. Whether two fishermen spend all day in the cockpit and say five words to each other or 10 dayboaters spread out from stem to stern and won’t stop talking, the Pursuit S 328 can handle it.

T

he 70th annual Seattle Boat Show, Indoors & Afloat, took place January 27th- February 4th, 2017 at Chandler’s Cove on Lake Union, just steps away from our Seattle showroom, and Centurylink Field Event Center. The 9-day show is the largest boat show on the West Coast, and the third largest show in North America. There were over 50,000 people in attendance, 225 hours of seminars presented, and 12,000 free samples of chowder served at the much-anticipated yearly Chowder Chomp at South Lake Union. Through rain and intermittent shine, Alexander Marine had 5 new inventory boats and 4 brokerage boats on display on beautiful Lake Union. The lineup included the 28’ Regal Bowrider, 32’ Regal Express, 35’ Regal Sport Coupe, 42’ Regal Flybridge, 39’ Tiara Coupe, 50’ Tiara Coupe, 47’ Grand Banks, 50’ Ocean Alexander, and 66’ Offshore. With 4 boats sale pending by closing day, this was one of our most successful boat shows to date! We look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming Northwest shows in 2017: Bremerton Trawlerfest on May 16th-20th, Kirkland Uncorked on July 15th-17th, and the Seattle Boats Afloat Show VIP & 70e Unveiling in September!

29 REGAL OBX

A L E X A N D E R M A R I N E U S A Newsletter | Spring 2017 | 42

The Regal 29 OBX will be arriving at our Seattle docks this Spring.

from boatingmag.com It was telling that we could not find a comparison boat when producing the boat test for Regal’s 9 OBX. After all, Boating’s Boat of the Year is the boat that impresses more in its category than any other boat impresses in any other category. The 9 OBX exceeded almost every measure by which one might judge a bowrider or day boat. Check out our test to get the details for yourself. We just couldn’t find a directly comparable boat to suggest to you as an alternative if you were considering buying the 9 OBX. What we did find was this boat meets or exceeds American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards. Whether it’s to assess the safety provided by a grab rail or bow rail, determining the appropriate cockpit scupper size, examining the electrical system or conducting safe-turn tests, the ABYC standards inform each and every Boating boat test.

The 29 OBX exceeded almost every measure by which one might judge a bowrider or day boat.

The 9 OBX is built rugged, and its finish is better than most. Its performance exceeded expectations, leveraging the best attributes of outboard power and Regal’s FasTrac hull. Boating’s Tech Team, with a combined 75 years of boat-testing experience (and almost a combined years simply boating) is confident in making these statements, having tested more than 6 model-year boats. That there is no other bowrider this size with twin outboard power is just one reason we are proud to name the Regal 9 OBX Boating’s 6 Boat of the Year.
