nown as "America's Finest City," San Diego is recognized by its perfect weather and miles of white, sandy beaches. The Sunroad Boat show was the perfect way to kick off the year for beach lovers and boat admirers! The show started off a little gloomy but did not disappoint when it ended with the most perfect California weather any on lookers could ask for! Catching a great deal of atten-

tion, the 85' Ocean Alexander Motor Yacht was the perfect way for Alexander Marine to introduce their new San Diego location! There was so much enthusiasm to hop aboard the Ocean Alexander, even with a line forming, the guests did not let the wait stop them from witnessing the beauty that lies within. Once aboard, guests realized that it was well worth waiting for! Docked near the Ocean Alexander, was the gorgeous Aquila. At 44
feet, this boat was an eye catcher! With its unique living quarters displayed inside and the fact that it is a pure-bred power catamaran, it left guests in awe. One of its top features is the extensive flybridge, which makes for some amazing sightseeing opportunities and a prime spot for any sunset or sunrise. Although the Ocean Alexander and the Aquila were a couple highlights, there were plenty of other breath-taking vessels for your enjoyment. Included in the lineup was the 2018 55’ Azimut, 2001 60’ Hatteras, 2017 42’ Galeon Fly, and the 2007 56’ Cruisers- just to name a few. With the combination of the friendly Alexander Marine staff, the gorgeous vessels being showcased, and the amazing weather that San Diego offered, it really made the Sunroad Boat show a weekend to remember! If by chance you were unable to make it to the Sunroad Boat show, please feel free to stop by the San Diego Alexander Marine USA location at 2540 Shelter Island Dr, San Diego, CA 92106 to view any boats you may have missed. We also, of course look forward to seeing everyone at the next Southern California boat show, located in Newport Beach, CA April 19-22.

e had a few wonderful winter months here at Alexander Marine, yet we are extremely excited for the summer season of long sunny days enjoying life on the water. Preparation for summer fun started this year with a 9-day boat show from Jan. 26th - Feb.

The Seattle Boat Show added a new location to the event this year - Bell Harbor Marina. This venue was added alongside the two v e n u e s already hosting the show Chandler’s Cove in South Lake Union and CenturyLink Field Event Center. For the first time, Alexander Marine exhibited at all show locations making for an eventful nine days. This year’s turnout was fantastic despite the rainy Seattle weather, which was expected. A VIP party was hosted the first night of the show on the brand new Ocean Alexan-
der 100‘ Skylounge, the first inventory model available on the West Coast. She is a beauty and was highly viewed throughout the entire show, with lines down the docks just to get a look onboard. The Ocean Alexander 100’ exemplifies elegance, comfort, and flawless design by Evan Marshall. The on-deck master is a sight to be seen with fantastic views, a beyond luxurious master head, and two cedar-lined closets. The Ocean Alexander 100 wasn’t the only sight to see at Bell Harbor - our inventory of Tiara Yachts, and Regal Boats were also on display along with a brand new Ocean Alexander 70e built in Merritt Island, Florida. Two brokerage Ocean Alexander vessels rounded out the South Lake Union display,
where traffic was consistent all show. The CenturyLink venue saw large crowds everyday, allowing attendees to escape the elements and take a look at boats indoors. A Tiara 39’ Coupe, Regal 28’ Bowrider, and Regal 29’ OBX were displayed in CenturyLink complete with a moving light show and large stage. Alexander Marine displayed 15 boats in this winter show with sales still closing as a result. orty years ago, founder, Alex Chueh, gave Ocean Alexander its name not knowing that one day it would become a world-renowned brand. Ocean Alexander is a family-owned business steeped in a rich history. Decades of hard work, dedicated employees and an unwavering commitment to quality has taken Ocean Alexander from its humble beginning in Taiwan to being an established leader in the yacht industry having sold more than 2,000 yachts. As a refugee from China, Alex Chueh made his way to Taiwan and eventually landed in the industrial city of Kaohsiung. It was there that Alex Chueh began his venture into the boat building industry. Through the years, he developed strong business relationships and formed a talented team of devoted employees. Alex Chueh was determined to create a brand of yachts that, in spite immense pressure to cut production costs, emphasized long-term quality. Thus, making Ocean Alexander a world-wide name customers and business partners could trust. In 1978, the first 50-foot Ocean Alexander yacht, named the Mark I Classic, was unveiled, and the positive response was staggering. This was Ocean Alexander’s breakthrough boat. Weighing in at 55,000 pounds, this model led the market because up to that point, no yacht that size had been made out of fiberglass. It was cutting edge, and by 1984, Ocean Alexander had produced its 92nd Mark I. Viewed as a classic yacht, the Mark I is still a highly-sought after vessel to this day. Forty percent of Ocean Alexander yacht owners are repeat customers. This demonstrates the brand loyalty the Ocean Alex-

Since the Mark I Classic, Ocean Alexander has continued to astonish the yacht community with each new model released. In 2005, Ocean Alexander broke into the megayacht category with the production of the company’s first 100-foot yacht. This stunning yacht combined the detailed craftsmanship Ocean Alexander is known for with state of the art technology and luxury amenities. The OA 100 opened the door for even lager models to be produced such as the OA 112, and by 2014, Ocean Alexander unveiled the truly magnificent 120-foot megayacht, collabo-
ratively designed by Evan K. Marshall. The positive response to these larger models was overwhelming. In 2015, Showboats International

magazine named Ocean Alexander one of the top five superyacht builders in the world. The future is bright for
Ocean Alexander as they continue to embark into unchartered territory with plans to produce a 135-foot and a 155-foot yacht. In the early 2000s, Ocean Alexander experienced significant change as the torch passed from father to son. As Alex Chueh fell ill, his son, Johnny Chueh, began to immerse himself in the company his father built from the ground up. Johnny soon developed a passion to continue the legacy his father left. Though his management style differs markedly from his father’s, Johnny maintains the same commitment to producing the highest quality yachts and has propelled the expansion of Ocean Alexander in many areas.

One of the most notable areas of expansion is that Ocean Alexander no longer manufactures solely in Taiwan but has now begun to manufacture in the United States. In 2016, the doors to Ocean Alexander’s ďŹ rst manufacturing facility in the United States opened. Located in Merritt Island, Florida, the plant has created hundreds of jobs for Americans as they produce the brand-new OA 70e. The OA 70e has captured the attention of the public with its sleek design and expert engineering. Expanding manufacturing into the United States has and will continue to open up new

possibilities for Ocean Alexander. Forty years ago, Ocean Alexander was born. And with each passing year, Ocean Alexander continues to hold tightly to the core values of unrivaled quality and trust. What began as a small operation in Taiwan has now transformed into a highly-respected, international yacht brand with those core values at the very center of its success. iami Beach is truly the hub for vibrant culture, stunning beaches and luxury at its finest. That’s why, each year, people travel from all over the world to experience the Miami Yacht Show with more than 1.2 million square feet of in-water yacht displays. This year marked the 30th anniversary of the Miami Yacht Show, and although companies always bring their best products, it was Ocean Alexander that stole the show with their remarkable fleet of luxury yachts.
The Miami Yacht Show always draws a vast international audience, and this year was no exception. Ocean Alexander wowed eager buyers with their display of top of the line yachts, designed with the highest quality craftsmanship and expert engineering. The boats

in show included the American made 70e, the stunning 85, two versions of the 100, one with 5 staterooms and an on-deck
master, and finally the 120 tri-deck megayacht. A major highlight of the Miami Yacht Show was the preview of the brand-new OA 90R. Evan K. Marshall and his team took their extensive knowledge of Ocean Alexander and masterfully revolutionized their legacy. The 90R is unlike anything Ocean Alexander has ever built, and customers were thrilled to get a sneak peak of this highly anticipated, newly-designed yacht. The OA 90r will makes its debut later this year at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The future is bright for Ocean Alexander with the addition of the OA 90R to the rest of the world-renowned Ocean Alexander fleet. With a resounding positive response from excited customers, the Miami Yacht Show was an overwhelming success for Ocean Alexander.

October of 2017, Alexander Marine USA extended their footprint to sunny, San Diego! After some fresh renovations and the famous Sunroad Boat Show, the new team was ready to introduce themselves to the local boating community. The event highlighted similar inventory to the showcase at Sunroad Boat Show, with the grand addition of a 2016 90’ Ocean Alexander in mint condition. Guests were able to walk the brand new 2018 Aquila 44 Power Catamaran, Azimut 55s, Azimut 50 Fly, Galeon 420 Flybridge, Regal 420 Flybridge, 25’ Regal RX Surf, and many more. However, the real showstopper was the team of six. Well-known in the San Diego marinas, the team was excited to greet their customers, both long term and new, to discuss their latest endeavors with Alexander Marine USA. Everyone enjoyed delicious food and drinks on the hot, February afternoon and marveled at the new office in Shelter Island. What a perfect way to begin 2018!

Debbie ’ s DOCKSIDE DISH In each issue, “Debbie’s Dockside Dish” features a different boat friendly recipe straight from the galley of Debbie Groesbeck, a seasoned boater, foodie, and an HR executive at Sur La Table in Seattle, Washington.

Welcome in Spring with this fresh and easy risotto. Serve with an artisan loaf of bread, a light prosecco and dinner is ready!
”
Fresh Spring LEMON RISOTTO 1/2 lb asparagus, ends trimmed, cut in 1 inch pieces 1 cup shelled fresh peas or thawed frozen peas 3/4 cup water 1 large bowl iced water, set aside 4 – 4 ½ cups chicken or vegetable broth, kept warm 1 T olive oil 2 T unsalted butter 1/4 cup finely diced shallots 1 cup Arborio rice 1/2 cup dry white wine 1 T lemon zest 1/2 lemon, juiced 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese Salt and Pepper, to taste In a medium saucepan, add 3/4 cup water and bring to a gentle boil. Add asparagus and cook 3 minutes until bright green. With a slotted spoon, immediately remove asparagus to a bowl of iced water to cool. Repeat process with fresh peas – however, if peas are frozen, skip this step. Heat olive oil and butter in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add shallots and cook until soft – about 2 minutes. Stir in rice and cook 1 minute. Slowly add in the wine and cook until liquid is almost absorbed - about 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup of the warmed broth and stir; when most has been absorbed, add another 1/2 cup. Continue adding until broth is gone and rice is tender about 20 to 25 minutes. Stir in lemon zest and juice, 1/2 cup Parmesan, asparagus and peas. Add salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with additional 1/4 cup Parmesan and serve immediately. (Serves 4 as a main dish or 8 as a side dish)

ach year, Alexander Marine staff, boating industry professionals and experts, and boaters from around the world gather in the boating capital of the Northwest- Roche Harbor, for a weekend full of good food, great company and entertaining events. Roche Harbor hosts countless Rendezvous events at the resort and marina throughout the year, but none quite like the Alexander Marine Rendezvous.
The 201d8 Under the Sea Rendezvous will be the 17th annual Rendezvous in held Roche Harbor, Washington by Alexander Marine.
The Annual Alexander Marine Rendezvous is held the same weekend each year- the third weekend of June (or Father’s day weekend), in the same location (Roche Harbor). Roche Harbor is the perfect venue for the event with the picturesque scenery, friendly staff, and great food. AM USA is lucky to be able to call Roche Harbor our second home for the summer with our seasonal “Summer Office” located on the docks. Although the event it is often referred to as the Ocean Alexander or Tiara Yachts Rendezvous, it is an all encompassing event for everyone in the Alexander Marine family of boaters regardless of boat brand. This weekend is a chance for all of us at Alexander Marine to express our appreciation to you, our customers. very year Alexander Marine USA staff come together for an annual sales meeting and holiday party. This year saw the largest group yet for our meeting as we expanded our team by adding a San Diego office and the acquisition of Pacific Coast Yacht Service. The sales meeting
E
consisted of a year-end sales review, guest speakers, projections and strategies for the next year. This year our guest speaker was Patrick Snow- author, speaker, coach and entrepreneur. To conclude the annual sales meeting, a holiday party was held at the Lake Union Café. Signature cocktails were made: “Port” and “Starboard” to be tray passed with hors d’oeuvres. The Lake Union Café
has been a local favorite that brings history to life and offered a dazzling backdrop for our event. Awards are given during the Holiday party in the categories of “Yacht Consultant of the Year”, “Top Brokerage Sales of the Year”, “Top Ocean Alexander Seller”, and “Top Yacht Consultant by Unit Sales”. It was quite a close contest for each category- but the winners were: Niel Steenkamp (Yacht Consultant of the Year), Jerry Todd (Top Brokerage Sales of the Year), Niel Steenkamp (Top Ocean Alexander Seller), and Jason Smith (Top Yacht Consultant). Niel Steenkamp, Alexander Marine Yacht Consultant of the Year, accredits his success to working hard, traveling and striving to give his clients have joy and satisfaction upon receiving their brand new yacht. He was able to challenge himself this year with a semi-custom build for the new 100’ OA, which lead to the joy and extreme excitement from the client. Niel is looking forward to another year of success and making his clients ecstatic about their new luxury purchase! This year presented many accomplishments for Alexander Marine including the opening of new offices, the expansion of our service department with a new partnership with Pacific Coast Yacht Service, and record breaking sales. We at Alexander Marine are looking forward to an even more exhilarating 2018.
