Ocean Galleries is delighted to welcome back the incredible young artist Autumn de Forest, called “one of the most important artists of her generation” by the Walt Disney Company and “a creative genius” by the Discovery Channel. Often described as a child prodigy, the talented 14-year-old artist made history this spring as the youngest painter ever to have a solo museum exhibition when her works were displayed at the Butler Institute of American Art. Her wide-ranging projects have included creating artwork for a line of Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars™ (sold exclusively at Nordstrom stores nationwide) and being honored by the Vatican. This past year, Autumn was extended a private audience with Pope Francis, where she presented him with her painting “Resurrection,” which now resides in the Vatican. The multitalented and poised young artist has commissioned sixfigure works of art and has garnered national and international acclaim for her imaginative artwork. Her artistic style has been compared to iconic abstract painters including Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, and Pablo Picasso. Autumn’s exhibition at Ocean Galleries will feature a collection of all new artwork, with many paintings created specifically for the show. Guests can meet her at receptions 6-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1-4:00 p.m. Sunday. The exhibit, “Autumn de Forest – The Journey Continues opens Friday and runs 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily through Sunday. De Forest began painting at age 5 and has been a professional painter for more

than half of her life. According to a press release from Ocean Galleries, this summer she made history as the youngest painter ever to have a solo museum exhibition when her work was displayed at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio. Founded in 1919 the Butler Institute was the first museum of American art. In November the Vatican invited her to Rome, where she was recognized with

the Premio Giuseppe Sciacca Award for Arts and Culture. After the award presentation she had a private audience with Pope Francis, where she presented artwork she had painted for him. The visit was the inspiration for her Vatican Collection, a series featuring religious iconography. Pieces from the Vatican Collection will be on display at Ocean Galleries, along with paintings created specifically for the

Stone Harbor showing. De Forest has used her artwork to support charitable causes such as The Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and This Bar Saves Lives in addition to the Diller home, the press release stated. She supports art education and has been a participating artist in Turnaround Arts, a program for the Presidents Committee on the Arts and Humanities. She will visit the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children in Avalon to talk with the campers about art and to work on a two-dimensional art piece with the children that will be auctioned at the Diller Home’s Barefoot Ball fall fundraiser Sept. 10 at the Windrift Hotel. She is also donating a painting. The Diller Home provides free weeklong summer vacations for blind children age 7-15. For information see dillerblind-
