ST MARKS LIGHTHOUSE Travel back to the 1820’s when the town of St. Marks, Florida, was considered an important port of entry. Serving as a port for the planting region of Middle Florida and some counties of South Georgia. Growers hauled agricultural products down to the port town in wagons and by 1829 a tower was constructed to help navigate through the shallow waters and thus, St. Marks lighthouse.
DAY 7-14: ST AUGUSTINE
Where better to spend the last week of your holiday than St. Augustine? DEVIL’S MILLHOPPER GEOLOGICAL STATE PARK IN GAINESVILLE This National Natural Landmark has attracted curious visitors since the 1880s. Among North Florida’s sandy terrain and pine forests, you will find a bowl-shaped cavity 120-ft deep down to a miniature rain forest. Lush vegetation thrives in the shade of the walls even in a dry summer. Visitors can feed their curiosity and learn more about the sinkhole through interpretive displays.
