DI S C OV E R R H O D E I S L A N D DECEMBER 2020

It is 2020 and we have all been thrown for a loop this year; however, we can still make the most of the holidays by giving our loved ones thoughtful gifts and even more importantly cherishing any face time we get to spend with our loved one’s. Here are some fun and affordable gifts to show those we love how much we care: 1. A warm blanket Who doesn't love a cozy and

warm gift like a brand new blanket. My favorite place to shop for blankets is definitely TJ Maxx/Home Goods/Marshall’s ($15-$35 price point). If you want to elevate your blanket game and bring a more high end look to your gift you can look into brands like Barefoot Dreams ($100+ price point). If you’re feeling very generous you could even go as far as gifting a designer blanket like Hermes ($1000+ price point). No matter what route you choose, I am sure the recipient will be all too happy to have another cozy blanket to call their own! 2. A monogrammed mug I recently joined the monogram mug club myself and I have to say: I love it! My mug (pictured in this article) was too cute to pass up and was so incredibly affordable. My mug is from the Opal House line at Target and was only $5! I can be a bit of a mug snob, so I can be very picky about not only what my mugs look like but how big they are, weight, handle size and overall size. This mug has a little bit of weight to it (which I love) and is an overall good size! Another very popular and extremely on trend monogrammed mug is from Anthropologie with a price point of $10-$12. 3. A subscription box

This one is a bit more complex, but fun nonetheless! There are subscription boxes for every kind of person and hobby so there is so much to choose from and they really are perfect for anyone and everyone. From beauty and clothing to gaming and cooking, this is a gift everyone can love and get great use from. Depending one how long of a subscription you would like to gift and how much value the actual box has, the prices can vary greatly. You can gift a one month subscription to the beauty bag Ipsy for $12 a month or you could gift a gamer box like Lootcrate for $20-$50 a month. 4. An experience This can really be the gift that keeps on giving. Book something for your friend or loved one that they might never consider doing for themselves. Something like a deluxe massage or a fancy wine tasting or maybe even a private paint night for you and your closest friends. While material things can be nice, the best gifts are experiences we share with loved ones that lead to memories to never forget. 5. A homemade Item This is where you can truly let your creativity shine! You can choose to take many different routes when it comes to homemade gifts, but here are a few ideas to get you started. You could take the more

10 DI S C OV E R R H O D E I S L A N D DECEMBER 2020

therapeutic route and try your hand at custom soap making or candle pouring. Or you could take the more culinary route and create a cookie mix in a jar or the very popular homemade vanilla extract. (this has been super trendy lately!) You can find recipes for everything listed above pretty much anywhere online. When buying supplies just remember that up front the cost can seem pretty high, but those supplies will yield many finished products - just keep that in mind before throwing away the idea altogether (I know I am definitely guilty of this!) Regardless of whatever you chose to gift to someone this year, remember that the best gift you can often give is your presence. Be it by phone, video chat or in person, remember, this year more than ever, to put the phone down and truly be present. Enjoy and cherish time with all of your loved ones and embrace the true magic and love of the Holiday season. Merry Christmas everyone and God Bless!

Spending just 15 minutes before you

your to-do list for the next day will give you a head start the following day. After you create your to-do list, spend a few minutes marking the tasks that are important to remind you that those tasks have to be done to push you forward in achieving your goals. Have Lunch Outside the Office

While small, this habit can have a huge and powerful effect on how you work for the rest of the day. Using your lunch to get out of your work environment can refresh your creativity, significantly reduce your stress levels, and help you re-focus when it's time to get back to work. Consider taking a short walk to help clear your head and think about what you want to accomplish the rest of the day. Minimize Distractions

Distractions are everywhere. If you work from a computer, you have the temptation of checking your social media and surfing the Internet, among other things. There are plenty of tools that can help you minimize these distractions. If you work in an office with a door, place a ‘do not disturb' sign up, so your coworkers know not to bother you.

Always Keep Your Goals in Sight

After you’ve set your goals, keep them in sight at all times. You want to write your goals down and keep them in a place where you will end up seeing them throughout your day. Being able to see your goals throughout the day will give you the motivation to get tasks done that move you closer to accomplishing them. Changing these five habits will move you toward being a more productive person. Keep track of your results and watch as the small daily victories start to transform your life.
