SHOULD YOU TOX OR NOT?
The truth about Botulinum toxin A (Botox, Xemin, Jeuveau, Dysport)
Many people wonder if getting neuromodulator treatment, commonly referred to as “Botox”, is the right choice for them. Many of our patients express several concerns about Botulinum toxin A treatment and we are always more than happy to discuss the pros and cons, as well as answer all their questions. According to The American Society of Plastic Surgeons the number of non-surgical facial procedures continues to grow, and 2020 statistics marked almost 4.5 million injections with Botulinum toxin A. It is also noted that more and more people decide to get this procedure before turning 30 due to its effectiveness as a preventative measure.
Here at Scientiphika we understand that every patient is different and has a unique set of needs and goals. Our responsibility is to educate clients so they can make an informed decision about any treatment we offer. Scientiphika provides culturally sensitive care with the unique influence of our
president and founder Aleksandra who was raised in Europe and understands different ethnical backgrounds and cultural norms. We provide high quality care and follow high moral standards and, rather than focusing on financial benefits, we help our clients delay and prevent aging as well as increase their self-esteem. To answer some of the most frequently asked questions, let us begin by explaining how Botulinum A toxin works and what are the most common side effects. Botox, Jeuveau, Xemin and Dysport are neuromodulators recognized as a Botulinum A toxin. These prescription medications work by preventing the release of the neurotransmitter called acetylcholine and block nerve signals causing the treated muscles to stop moving. Repetitive muscle movements and contractions are the cause of persistent lines. Neuromodulators can temporarily reduce the activity of injected muscles and further decrease and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. We can treat forehead, glabellar (frown) lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, dimpled chin, and even lift one’s eyebrows and the corners of the mouth. Neurotoxin A is also used to help with migraines headaches and jaw pain related to TMJ. Although generally safe, the most common side effects of Botulinum toxin A include bruising, pain at the injection site, headache, flulike symptoms, nausea, and redness. However, there are also some more serious side effects such as
severe rection therefore you must choose your provider carefully. Please make sure that your injector is a well-trained, licensed and an insured medical professional with an advanced medical degree so if any of the serious adverse effects occur, they will be able to manage them and keep you safe. Some other questions we frequently hear from our patients are: Will I look overdone and fake? Is this treatment only for wealthy people? At Scientiphika Medical Spa we aim for the most natural results while helping our patients achieve their individual goals. Our treatments are designed to maximize symmetry, facial harmony, and beauty. I strongly believe that “Less is More” and always try to administer the least amount of medication necessary to achieve an individual’s desired outcome and keep their cost as low as possible. We also have special offers that will allow you to save your dollars and make the treatment affordable. Many of you may wonder if you are too young for neuromodulators and what is the appropriate age to get this treatment. Most aesthetic medicine experts agree that Botulinum toxin A can be used for prevention of wrinkles and fine lines for people 20 years and older. Starting at 20, the aging process of our skin begins by decreasing the production of collage and elastin and loss of volume. The most important measures that should be taken to prevent and slow down the signs of aging is protecting our skin from sun by wearing sunscreen every day, using a good skincare, and quit smoking if applicable. I also recommend that you consider neuromodulator injection for treatment and prevention of fine lines and wrinkles for both men and women. Some of my clients expressed a fear of needles and want to know if injections are painful. As I administer the neuromodulator, I always make sure that my patient is comfortable. The needles that are used are small and cause minimal discomfort. If needed a numbing cream, ice and pain distractor can be used to assure comfort and prevent stress. Our goal is to help our clients achieve the best outcome, provide education, and assure a relaxing atmosphere.
