Statement coats are a staple for any wardrobe. They are the perfect addition to any cold weather outfit while their bright colors and fun patterns transition well into the spring. They make even the simplest of outfits look chic. When I came across this teddy coat, I knew I had to have it. I chose to pair it with an all black outfit, making the blue pop even more. It kept me cozy on a visit to one of my favorite local
settings – the Temple of Music at Roger Williams Park. This impressive marble structure is the perfect background for all sorts of activities. It sits on the shore of a lake and the pillars frame a beautiful fountain. The park associated with Roger Williams is expansive and a great place for all times of year. In the spring, I enjoy a picnic on the lawn overlooking the temple and a stroll through the Japanese Garden. In the summer the park is home to Food Truck Friday, a wonderful weekly event that serves up local flavor with live music and cocktails. The zoo is the best stop for autumnal activities – visit the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular to see thousands of professionally carved pumpkins or take the swan boats out for a spooky spin. Utilize the Park’s indoor activities during the winter months by exploring the planetarium or botanical gardens. The park is a great spot for every season, make sure to take advantage of it!

Her ideal man is attractive enough to have children with but not attractive enough to fall in love with. Ideally, he’ll also have some roofing skills. Max Durell has returned to Demerest Cove to accomplish a lifelong dream. The Grand isn’t on the market yet, but convincing the eccentric owners to sell should be a piece of cake. His brothers will take care of the transaction. Max’s job is to flirt with the owners’ daughter so she doesn’t interfere. Flirting is easy. It’s the friendship that’s the problem. He can’t help enjoying Aidy Jones and while he’ll never fall in love again (Been there. Bought the tux. Bride never showed up.) he is falling in like with her. Deeply in like. But any day now, the sale will go through. And once Aidy learns Max is the one tearing her beloved hotel away from her, she’ll never want to set eyes on him again.

remedy
What is Crystal Healing? Crystal healing is an ancient healing system used to naturally heal and improve one's wellbeing: mind, body + spirit. Crystals work with the human energy field to align, absorb, focus, direct + diffuse energy within the body through the crystal's vibrations. How Does it Work? Research has shown that everything in the Universe is made up of energy. Just like magnets use energy to attract or repel, healing stones + crystals use energy in a similar way. Certain stones correlate with certain energy fields in your body. When those stones are placed over certain parts of your body, your energy
transforms, vibrates, shifts and pulses in accordance to that stone's particular metaphysical properties. One must open their heart + mind to the practice of crystal healing to experience the benefits. If you enter this practice with doubts and a closed mind, you will be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Literally. Ways to Use Crystals The uses and how to use healing crystals are endless. The beauty of crystal healing is that you choose what works best for you. Wearing Them Adorning yourself in healing crystals in the morning is a perfect way to align your energy for the day. Since these stones + crystals have the ability to absorb, cleanse, transform and repel negative energy, wearing them will allow you to carry through the day with a balanced energy field. Wearing your crystal jewelry will also be a physical reminder to remain aware of your thoughts, but to allow them to pass without judgement. A reminder to be present in every moment. A reminder to trust in the power of the universe. Meditating With Them When meditating, you can hold or surround yourself with healing crystals. Allow yourself to clear your mind, focus on your breath, and raise your vibration to receive insights from your crystals.
Placing Them Under Your Pillow Our subconscious minds often take over when we're fast asleep. Keeping a crystal nearby your bed or under your pillow can effect your dreams in a positive way, alleviating fear and worry. How Will I Know Which Crystal Works For Me? Since every crystal + stone has their own healing and metaphysical properties, it is important to tune in to your mind, body + spirit to find exactly what it is you need from crystal healing at that moment. Once you are aware of what areas you need healing, you can begin your research to find the stone

which correlates with your needs. Get to Know Some of UBN's Favorite Healing Stones + Crystals! Our main goal when creating jewelry is to encourage our babes to explore the practice of crystal healing. Overall wellbeing is so important + we are so happy to have found a creative way to spread awareness. Here are a few of our favorite + commonly used stones in our pieces! AGATE Agate is an ideal stone for balancing + harmonizing mind, body + spirit. It eliminates and transforms negative energy while soothing and calming your emotions.
CHRYSOPRASE Chrysoprase promotes love of truth. It promotes hope + creativity. Chrysoprase transmutes negative emotions into positive ones + stimulates acceptance of oneself and others. LABRADORITE A stone which protects you from the negativities and misfortunes of the world. Labradorite is useful during times of change as it promotes strength, perseverance + emotional stability. It balances + protects your aura + strengthens your intuitive abilities. PEACH MOONSTONE A stone which protects you along your travels. Peach moonstone brings good luck + abundance to your life. It provides energy to sustain you during times of change + growth. Peach Moonstone also enhances feminine energy + intuition. PYRITE A stone of good luck + fortune. Pyrite is also a very powerful protection stone as it shields all negative energy. It promotes health, intellect, + emotional well-being. Pyrite allows one to recognize the purity of the universe. QUARTZ The “master healer” stone absorbs, cleanses, stores, amplifies + regulates

energy. It draws off negative energy + balances and revitalises the physical, mental, emotional + spiritual planes. RAINBOW MOONSTONE Rainbow Moonstone is the stone of new beginnings, balancing the psychic centers + grounding negative energies. Moonstone is strongly connected to the moon while calming your emotions + balancing your yin + yang energies. It also enhances your intuition and psychic abilities. Cleansing Your Crystals It is very important to remember to cleanse your crystals after a healing session or a day of wearing your UBN piece(s). If your crystals are not cleansed, they will carry unwanted negative energy from days prior. Luckily, cleansing and aligning your crystals is simple.
CLEANSING UBN GEMS It is recommended to smudge (using the smoke from sage, dried herbs, palo santo, or incense) or placing your pieces under the light of a full moon (moon bath) to cleanse your jewelry. You can also place your pieces nearby or on a piece of Selenite which has the ability to cleanse and restore other crystals. CLEANSING RAW OR TUMBLED STONES + CRYSTALS You can use the above cleansing rituals as well as soaking your stones in purified water or salt water. **Selenite is not to be placed in water as it will dissolve** Crystal healing is the ideal way to ground yourself to Mother Earth while raising your vibration. For further knowledge about stones + crystals, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the Crystal Bible(s) by Judy Hall.

Motivation is such a big part of everyone’s lives. It’s the one thing I feel as though someone is always in search of, either we have too little or none at all. Motivation is a constant factor, always in the balance of our days, effecting our moods and our responses to the environment around us. Please know that if you feel like you have been struggling on a motivational level lately, so have I. Know that you are never alone in that feeling. I know all to well that lack of motivation is a feeling that can consume you and sometimes you just need a little pick me up to push you forward. Lately, my presence on social media & my blog has been almost non-existent, and I apologize to any who take the time to follow me and read what I write. Balancing a full-time job and my photography business on the side has proven to be difficult and I have struggled to find the motivation at the end of the day to create content and take photos. As I have recognized these struggles in myself, I decided it was finally time to do something about it. Of course, ironically, to act upon it I needed to motivate myself! Here are five sure-fire ways to help yourself stay motivated & inspired:
1. Write it Down No matter where I go I always have something to write with and something to write in. I have been known to be quite the stationary hoarder, but that’s beside the point haha! If you have something to write
oceanstate
motivate
in, it’s a lot easier to get your thoughts out and you will be less likely to forget something! More importantly, if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by your thoughts & can’t seem to make sense of anything, writing it down can often make it a heck of a lot easier to organize them into something you can better understand. It also allows you to prepare yourself & create a great game plan!
cute gear? Or, if you’re looking for some motivation at the office, a wardrobe revamp could also be just as beneficial! Try bringing some power to your work wardrobe by adding in bright pops of color or some new sleek styles! You could even grab yourself a power suit because why not? Motivation can be found in the smallest of changes that we make, if you dress the part then you can most certainly play the part!
2. Make a Playlist What better way to motivate yourself than with a set list of your all time favorite songs? Whether it be in the car, at home or at the office (headphones suggested) – crank up the music and get to work. The hardest part of motivation is the first step, getting started. After you start, it becomes more of a snowball effect – you keep working and before you know it, you’ve accomplished a lot!
5. A Good Night's Sleep We can’t actually be expected to function like normal human beings if our tanks are running on empty right? Make sure to get your beauty rest to ensure that your energy levels are high! With a restful night and more energy, it’s hard not to find motivation.
3. Snacks I love food, and almost everyone I know loves food too – all jokes aside, lack of nourishment can seriously affect your level of concentration! If you’re stomach is growling or if you’re dehydrated, your body doesn’t have the proper fuel to operate at peak efficiency. So, go ahead and stock up on all of the snacks before getting to work!
When all is said and done, if you are trying your very best then that is definitely enough. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself, because although pressure can create diamonds it can also create a lot of stress. Always remember to be kind to not only others, but especially to yourself. Now go ahead, put on your favorite song, your best clothes and grab your notebook & pen – time to make magic happen!
4. Dress the Part There are many different scenarios in which we might need motivation – and very often wardrobe has a role. If you are in some serious need of workout motivation (as I often am) make sure your wardrobe plays its part. Pick up some cute, but practical, workout clothes because how can you not be motivated to put in a good workout with some

THE SUBARU LEGACY First Look: 2020 Subaru Legacy Story By: Duncan Brady
This year at the Chicago Auto Show, Subaru treated us with the reveal of the fully redesigned 2020 Legacy sedan. The seventh generation of Subaru’s rally-inspired all-wheel drive four-door is the first sedan built on the contemporary Subaru Global Platform, plus it boasts two new engines, standard active safety, and a big ‘ol touch screen infotainment system. The Subaru Global Platform underpinning the new Legacy promises quite the improvement over its predecessor. Structural rigidity is up, thanks to a focus on high-tensile steel and the use of a new structural adhesive throughout the body structure. The steps taken by Subaru engineers to stiffen up the Legacy’s chassis,
28 OC E A N S TAT E MARCH 2019
combined with a more sophisticated rear suspension design, promise to deliver better steering response, an improved ride, and more responsive handling. A stiffer platform also pays dividends in safety. Subaru expects the new Legacy to receive a Top Safety Pick+ upon completion of Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) testing later this year. Beyond crashworthiness, the Legacy also comes standard with Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, with the addition of Lane Centering for 2020. The suite of active safety features includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and precollision throttle management. Subaru’s DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation,
first seen on the new Forester in 2018, is optional on the Legacy Limited and standard on the new Legacy XT. The XT is a new trim level for the redesigned 2020 Legacy, replacing the fourth generation’s Legacy 3.6R Limited. Replacing that car’s 256-horsepower flat-six engine is a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, producing 260-hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. When we had a chance to drive this new turbo motor in the three-row Ascent last fall, it impressed us with ample torque low in the rev range and strong acceleration. It’s not hard to imagine having a whole lot of fun with the same engine powering a car about a thousand pounds lighter. Subaru estimates the Legacy XT will hit 60mph from a stop in as little as 6.1 seconds. Entry-level models receive a new engine as well: a 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder that debuted in the all-new Forester last year. The non-turbo engine is the fuel efficiency all-star of the lineup, delivering up to an estimated 35 mpg on the highway. All seventh-generation Legacy models pair their engines with Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT. Manual transmission enthusiasts may mourn the loss of a row-your-own option, though Subaru’s CVT is one of the best of its kind and available paddle shifters give drivers that extra degree of control. An all-new multimedia display is perhaps the most obvious change to Subaru’s midsize four-door. At 11.6-inches, it’s the largest infotainment screen ever
MARCH 2019 O CEANSTATE 29
fitted to a Subaru, offering touch controls for audio, HVAC, and vehicle settings. The display is integrated into the sedan’s dashboard, emulating similar systems designed for Volvo and Tesla. By nestling the screen within the dashboard, the Legacy avoids the “stuck-on tablet” look that plagues cars like the new Ford Explorer. While Subaru has not yet provided pricing for the new Legacy, we expect entry level models to start around $25,000, with the top-trim Touring XT in the $35,000 range. The all-new 2020 Subaru Legacy will hit dealership floors in Fall 2019. It will be available in the Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts areas at Anchor Subaru in North Smithfield, and in Connecticut it will be available at Premier Subaru in Branford and Premier Subaru in Watertown
