I make my soaps using the cold process method, completely from scratch using high quality butters and food grade oils. I then cure my soaps for 4-6 weeks before packaging them. JEANNE BLASBERG

Read this coming-of-age novel written by award winning Ocean State Author Jeanne Blasberg! Hannah Webber fears she will never be a mother, but her prayers are finally answered when she gives birth to a son. In an era of high-stakes parenting, nurturing Sam’s intellect becomes Hannah’s life purpose. She invests body and soul into his development, much to the detriment of her marriage. She convinces herself, however, that Sam’s acceptance at age fourteen to the most prestigious of New England boarding schools overseen by an illustrious headmaster, justifies her choices. When he arrives at Dunning, Sam is glad to be out from under his mother’s close watch. And he enjoys his newfound freedom— until, late one night, he stumbles upon evidence Jeanne Blasberg is a novelist, travel writer, and adventurer. Her debut novel, Eden, was the winner of the Beverly Hills Book Awards for Women’s Fiction and finalist for the Benjamin Franklin Award for Best New Voice in Fiction and Sarton’s Women’s Book Award for Historical Fiction. Blasberg sits on the boards of the Boston Book Festival and Grub Street, one of the country’s preeminent creative writing centers. She and her husband have three grown children and split time between Boston, MA and Westerly, RI.

Both a coming-of-age novel and a portrait of an evolving mother-son relationship, The Nine is the story of young man who chooses to expose a corrupt world operating under its own set of rules—even if it means jeopardizing his mother’s hopes and dreams.

lifestyle It's that time of the year again everyone: Back to School! While some of you might be excited and others might be moaning and groaning in disapproval, there is one thing we can all agree on: when it comes the time to head back to school, it's always important to be prepared! So I thought, now that I'm a college graduate and have made it through my years of higher education, why not impart any of the wisdom I might have to offer with my awesome followers! Here are my top 10 must have items for Back to School! 1. A great backpack As a college commuter I learned that one

BACK TO SCHOOL BASICS

item (besides a car of course) was, above all, an ultimate essential: a great backpack. What I started college with was what I thought was a great backpack: it was pretty & colorful & quilted...but that was about it. It had barely any pockets, it wasn't waterproof & it wasn't very durable either! So I decided to make the switch to a Swiss

Gear backpack and it was the best decision I ever made! This backpack was so durable and had a great slot safe enough to store your laptop or tablet! The best part of this backpack? The pockets...alllll of the pockets. There was so much storage in this backpack and it was truly a lifesaver. 2. A durable jacket Having attended college in New England, I can attest to the fact that a jacket is so

and it's always good to have lightweight, durable coat on hand! One of my favorite pick's for this Fall/Winter season is this super cute camo utility jacket from Target. This coat is fashion forward but durable enough to keep you warm and handle most any weather! 3. A great laptop and a durable laptop sleeve

4. Notebooks This does seem like the obvious choice but most people don't know that there are good and bad notebooks when it comes to school! Truly, picking the perfect notebook dwindles down to your preference: Do you prefer to have all of your subjects in one notebook? All of them

user friendly. If you are looking for a college investment piece (other than college itself) this is a great place to start. Along with a new computer, it's also very important to have a good laptop case to protect your new beauty! I love my laptop case because, not only is it super cute but it is very well padded

5. Ball cap Whether your having a bad hair day or you have a sensitive scalp, it's never a bad idea to have a ball cap on hand! Whether it be at home, in your car or in your trendy new (yet functional) backpack, you will be thanking yourself late for throwing a ball cap in your bag!

16 OC E A N S TAT E AUGUST 2019

Marlowe and Anthony were married at the Weekapaug chapel just up the street from Marlo's families home in south county Rhode Island. It was a full on backyard wedding, with neighbors lending their yards for the celebration. Walking down to the ceremony, Marlowe was treated like royalty, with neighbors out on their front lawn waving to her as she passed by them. They were treated to a beautiful sunset, and then enjoyed plenty of dancing inside their tented reception.

Each passing summer brings with it a handful of hot, humid days. You know the ones I’m referring to; where a perfectly coiffed scoop of ice cream slides ever so gently off the edge of its dampish cone, sending a sugary deluge sliding mercilessly down your wrist and forearm – a thick, sticky residue left

fashion

THE PERFECT LINEN DRESS FOR SUMMER

behind in its wake. As it goes, days like these make the thought of shimmy-dancing into a pair of skinny jeans borderline unbearable. To keep from turning a rather enjoyable summer day into what very well could end up in a tragic heat stroke, I often opt for a linen dress I can throw on quickly before running out the door, eradicating the need for each of the former.

The linen sundress has stood the test of time for countless decades, its quintessentially-summer silhouette remaining a key pillar of its admirable longevity. The subtle cork detail of the buttons run effortlessly down the body of this pink number, a compliment to the A-line cut that keeps the fabric flowing freely off the skin. The midi-length and large front pockets air out its playful side while sporting a healthy dose of modesty, a trait I’ve come to admire among the more classic pieces in my own closet.

The dress I’m wearing here is part of the Rachel Zoe Collection and I found it for just under $30 at Marshalls the other week! While I wasn’t able to find this exact dress online for you to shop, I definitely recommend popping into the store and see if they have a few left in stock. In any case, though, I’ve dropped the links to a few of my very favorite linen sundresses to style this summer below, whether you’re headed to Sunday brunch or out for the evening.

Alyssa started A With Love in August of 2016 as a rather green liberal arts graduate who thought she'd be on the fast track to a seat on the nightly new within months of receiving her diploma. Her background is primarily in print journalism, and she knew that no matter where her life took her, she had to find the time to still write, even if was only for herself. When she is not writing her latest blog post or shooting an upcoming brand campaign, Alyssa manages the affiliate marketing program for Vistaprint. Prior to her current role, she spent four years working in content management and social media marketing for a number of clients on the agency side. In her free time, Alyssa's passions include food, wine, travel, and reading. While each respective in their own right, she much prefers them all at once.
