Super rare LIL DEUCE SPORTS COUPE
How’s this for an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often! While roaming around Muscle Car Madness, I spotted this gorgeous lil Deuce parked in the corner with it’s gleaming Octane orange paint standing out like nothing else in amongst
So what does one do when they see something like this sitting there looking so cool? You go and grab them for a photoshoot of course!
This cool lil Coupe is actually only one of seven hundred and eleven sports coupes built way in 1932. The great depression put an end to the manufacture of these right when they were taking off unfortunately, but fortunately for Geoff and Jan, this one here was found in The States and imported back to lil ole NZ here.
Although a bit worse for wear after sitting around for so many years, the previous owner spent seven years rebuilding the Coupe including replacing the bottom eight inches (that’s around 200mm for you youngins) due to the usual rust getting in there and discovering that at some stage, the Coupe had been in an accident as well. You wouldn’t know it today though. This show condition Coupe is certainly something to be proud of now and in no way drives like the old 32 it was.
Originally a four cylinder Ford engine, the entire undercarriage has been rebuilt including all the running gear and suspension to hang onto the huge 509ci aluminium engine jimmied between them front chassis rails.
With performance the name of the game here, a Tremac five speed gearbox has been slotted in behind that engine, running back to a Jaguar LSD differential mounted on triangular suspension set-up with adjustable ride height shocks.
Of course the brake set-up has definitely been modified with four pot Wilwoods up front and the big jag disc’s on the rear.
The interior certainly didn’t miss out on the action. The full custom set-up including new custom seats upholstered to match the door trims and the new waterproof fabric top looks completely at home, adding a heap of style and class along with comfort for hitting the highways and cruising with that huge engine up front.
The rumble from that V8 sounding just gorgeous and for a performance engine like this, runs incredibly smooth with the driveability just right for any situation. This lil show piece doesn’t just sit in the cave though. Both Geoff and Jan are keenas to jump behind that steering wheel and go for a peddle. With an awesome build like this in your cave, how could possibly leave it alone anyway!
