The Inktober challenge has a prompt, a list of words that serve as a topic for ink drawings for every single day of October and was made popular on social medias. 2019 was the third time I tried this challenge, but the ďŹ rst time I actually planned for it, I realized that it would be fun to create a set of artworks with it, these become three projects of my own while following the prompt. The goal for my project was to create full pieces of original artwork and also to use this material to develop a set of "Zines". These are my very ďŹ rst "art zines" (as if they were small versions of art books) that would allow me to present and promote my artwork in a very fun and aordable way for me and you. This volume is in fact a special edition with all the three sets of my "Inktobers", it will also include some extra images and will come with a small original drawing (if you got this zine without it, its either a digital version or pirated!). The series are sets of ten illustrations each, they are titled Mythologies, Calabazas and Quiralta's Freestyle Tales, they are a type of "pin-up" art with hints of pop-art, manga, and traditional illustrations. All the original illustrations were made with ink (black and red) using dip pen (calligraphy pen), ink brushes and brush pen. This zine was proudly made with Free and Open Source Software, details at the end. https://rjquiralta.wordpress.com/

M By RJ Quiralta Mythologies are a series of ten illustrations in which their narratives seem to belong to ancient folklore, they are in fact all made up, although influenced by real mythology. Each image is shown with a text "excerpt" as if it was taken from some real piece of literature, and just like the artwork that acompanies, they are only sprouts of my imagination. "... And the Moon goddess was bound to the eternal life-cycle branch with an emerald RING said to be found on the pupil of the fire dragon, one of the seven guardians of the stone of knowledge. And She keeps going around earth listening the murmurs of the ocean, her estranged love... "

"...But the fire demon brothers where nothing but a MINDLESS set of puppets controlled by the goddess of the river from the misty lands, she was a trickster and would order the demons to set the land on fire so the people of the valley would pray to her for help with offerings... "

"...And from all the Dark Forest spirits, the old oak demoness was the most "...After the floods ruined the villages and their crops it was found that a titan feared, she would use her beauty as a BAIT to attract travelers to her fangs, man was responsible for such devastation, that's when the folks ask the Snow Wolf and woman alike, she would devour them alive, but the fear she spread kept the priestess, a demigod, to FREEZE the head of the offender which is said that still Dark Forest untouched for centuries... " remains under the snow mountains of the lands of the north... "

"...That for centuries the folk and their technology kept contaminating, its air and its water, "...From those tribes, some called her a goddess others a demon, although its thus the giant oak ask the goddess of the earth for help, and that's when she part the ground been recorded that folks called her simply the Mother Jaguar spirit, and that she and BUILD the highlands with her own feet, and the tech city was buried but its inhabitants resembles a ghost, a pale figure with a "moon like" skin and fire tattoos, and she were spared from the destruction, and ever since the folk turn into farming and arts and they always ride on her HUSKY companion, a demon jaguar known only to exist in the keep giving offerings at the sacred giant oak till this very days... " antiquity back when the deities walked on the soil of the earth... "

"...Thus was able to walk on earth like any other human, a warrior-like goddess that slayed the snake and removed its head from the body, and made her throne with it, she also used the snake's body as a source of power to maintain her ENCHANTED palace protected from any visitor, but every end of each season she would allow ower oerings from the inhabitants of the lowlands... "

"...Every night, and this warrior spirit was guarding the great garden, although in fact, it was nothing but a FRAIL cloak worn by the Mist Goddess, daughter of the Ocean and the Wind, and every year, when the days grow shorter, her cloak will fall apart into thousands of dry leaves, and this is said to mark the beginning of the autumn season... "

"...Yet the wise folk of the mid regions kept increasing their technology and kept their "...Which only choice was to summon the goddess of the Arts, who created a lack of appreciation for the resources of nature, days were long then and the sun would PATTERN that would overpower the chaos, and the seasons were created, thus rarely go down, that is when the princess of the stars was sent to impose a break, and year after year a season will born and then die, and only then a new meaning of with a SWING of her hand, out of the ink in her tattoos she made the night, and to keep life was learnt by the mortals... " the folk from getting scared, she adorn it (the night) with her stars... "

C By RJ Quiralta Calabazas are artworks about an original character of mine, named RedBean, here she is a playful spirit along her cat companion named Goyangui. "Calabazas" (pumpkins in Spanish), is meant to be less illustration and more pop-art-ish, there is no story behind, just silly long titles that include the oďŹƒcial Inktober prompt list words.

By RJ Quiralta My "freestyle tales" are a set of illustrations that I made to look as if they belong to an existing tale, or a separate narrative of some sort, they are heavily inspired by classic illustration styles while keeping the pop-art and pin-up-art feel. Featuring in all the illustrations is my original character RedBean in multiple "impersonations" algong Goyangui the Cat. Some of these show my underline sketches and guides to add an "old" sketch feel, which are not present any more on the originals. The Inktober prompt list words can be found in their titles.
