Reggae music is, for the most part, loved universally as one of the best and most celebrated genres. Grammywinning singer, Lorde is not one of those lovers apparently.
The 17-year-old, New Zealand-born singer, who rose to international prominence with her hit single, Royals, was highly critical of Reggae music during a recent edition of her VEVO vlog titled, The World According To Lorde.
“I hate Reggae, Reggae makes me feel like am late for something,” she said.
Though the comment was made months ago, a report in the Jamaica STAR Tuesday brought the comment to light, triggering mixed views among Jamaican music insiders. However, Dancehall artist, Spice, who remixed Royals in January, lambasted her upon hearing of the comment..
"I'm really disappointed in her statement, because I was such a big fan of her music, and fell in love with Royals the moment I heard it, ” she told the Jamaica STAR Tuesday. “I'm not a fan anymore, and will just delete her album and move on. Reggae is the most soulful genre, so I can't understand how someone could hate it. I really regret even doing a reggae cover to her single. Everyone knows the origin of reggae music is Jamaica, and by black people. So my question is: Is it the music that she really doesn't like, or just the black race?"
However, ZIP 103FM regular and selector, DJ Chrome was of a contrasting opinion.
"If that's how she feels, then that's OK. It's her opinion. I personally wouldn't say that I hate any genre of music, ” he told the newspaper. “They might not be my favourite, but I wouldn't go as far to say that I hate them. If she thinks Reggae is that bad, then it's no big deal."
This is not the first time Lorde has courted controversy with her comments on other genres. In an interview given to Complex Magazine last fall, saying she did not relate well to music from Nicki Minaj and Drake because they ‘all sing about such opulence,’ while also saying, 'How are we listening to this? It's completely irrelevant.’ She later clarified her comments on Twitter, saying that loves and admires both rappers, saying, “ Just because their songs aren't my reality (being 17 and from Auckland) doesn't mean I don't admire their musicianship and careers!”

Freaky dancehall singjay J Amsterdam says local DJs are refusing to play his music because they are afraid of the stigma.
According to the Wine Inna Mi Face singer, Jamaica ’s music industry is not prepared for his level of ‘freakishness’.
“ I think they don ’ t want to play the song because they don ’ t want to be associated with that kind of thing, and that ’ s why so many people were going against it on Facebook,” he said.
The singjay also said while he does not blame DJs for not playing his song in an attempt to protect their reputation, its blatant hypocrisy.
“If DJs played it, they would get ‘fire bun’ and honestly, I don ’ t think they would want to risk their career, ” J Amsterdam said.
He also told THE STAR that he misjudged the level of backlash he would get for releasing the controversial single, and even made an attempt to retract his admission to having performed oral sex.
“I can’t go anywhere right now, and I have been getting death threats. I have stayed in my house for three days without going outside. I have not done the things I said in the song, I was just trying to fulfil my dreams of having a lucrative career. When I did the song I thought the freaks would have supported me, but they have not,” he said.
J Amsterdam also commented on Alkaline’s ‘anal licking’ lyrics saying, “Alkaline is making it bad for me right now because people feel that he did the anal licking line because of me, Demarco and Ricky Carty. But what he did in his song with one line is worse than my entire song. This did me more harm than good because I have received no bookings, not even Tiana or D’Angel want to be associated with me. Persons have to be hypocrites to survive in this industry … Jamaica is not ready for it, and even though I said oral sex in the song, I have never performed it,” J Amsterdam added.

According to Mavado, the feature is important as it will assist with the development of his international brand.
“ Rick Ross is family, straight. Even though we are on different labels, him and Khaled have been rolling from day one, so we always around each other at the studio or events, or just hanging out. Khaled called Julian and said they found the record they want Mavado on and we knocked it out same time in the studio. “The exposure it brings across the board – airplay, on the net, in print, to new ears in the industry, is priceless,” Mavado said.
The artiste disclosed that Rick Ross extended the offer a while back. However, they recently decided on the song that was most fitting for the self proclaimed Gully Gad.
“ Ross told me a while ago he wanted me on TheMastermind album and Mafia Music III is a very important record for Ross. It’s part of a trilogy of songs of that name, so to be asked to contribute creatively to it, is an important milestone in my career,” he said.
The Mastermind album will be released on March 4, 2014. However, the artiste said private listening sessions have already been conducted to get feedback.
“ We attended a listening party on South Beach for the whole album, and there was a select number of invitees in attendance – producers, artistes, bloggers, journalists and tastemakers.
“ Mafia Music III had one of the best responses when it was played. It was in a theatre and each record was accompanied by visuals, on a big screen, relevant to the song being played. The images of Jamaica, Mavado and old gangsters, complemented the song perfectly and the crowd was jumping out of their seats when it was playing,” the artiste said.
Mavado also collaborated with Maybach Music-signed rapper Meek Mill, alongside R&B new artiste, Sterling Simms, for Tell Her Again, which samples Barrington Levy
.The We The Best/Young Money artiste will also be featured on a track with T.I ’ s artiste, Iggy Azalea ’ s, that song will also be available on her upcoming album. “I’m always working to extend the longevity and quality of my career. I always stay hungry for the game and for music so I ’ m constantly recording, for both Jamaica and overseas and doing features for other acts. “ I will be releasing several videos for the local tracks soon and my fans can look out for a video for Buss Guns, featuring Ace Hood very soon. I will be releasing my own mixtape on We The Best mixtape that Khaled is dropping. I also have a song produced by Dave Kelly, featuring Cham, Love Song. That song was just released and we are promoting it hard. so far, it has been getting crazy love all over the world,” Mavado said.

Alkaline fired his manager Dwayne Morrison
Alkaline is one of the hottest young artistes on the dancehall scene in Jamaica right now.
Over the last year, the shock value deejay has attracted a lot of buzz with some catchy new singles including “Things Mi Love,” “123″ and “Trio.”
But Alkaline stunned fans recently when he abruptly fired his manager Dwayne Morrison.
During a recent sit down with Winford Williams of OnStage, Alkaline explained the fallout with his manager, getting his eyeball tattoo, and comparison with Vybz Kartel.
“ I had to do what I had to do, ” Alkaline said. “I just realized that every loyalty has an expiration date and it ’ s just clear that now their have expired. They did a lot of good and they also did a lot of bad. I can’t know anything going on career wise or when I ask about anything money related, some man acting like I should not ask them anything.”
Alkaline also said he does not look up to Vybz Kartel as an artiste but he have respect for every artiste in dancehall.
Demarco accused of collecting monies for dubs
It seems international Recording artiste Demarco has become the latest in a series of Jamaican entertainers to be accused of collecting monies for dubs, (customized song version) the artiste found himself accused by several persons via Twitter for taking money and dont deliver.

The unscrupulous individual used the moniker ‘ Veronica Blackstock ’ with the email addressYouthjamz@facebook.com claiming to be from Clarendon while collecting thousands of Jamaican dollars on behalf of the singer. Demarco says he wants the public to be aware of these unscrupulous individuals who are swindling honest, hard working people out of their hard earned cash and trying to taint his reputation.
“ What occurred his unfortunate, neither me nor any member of my team received monies for dubs. My management is in the process of contacted the relevant authorities to investigate the matter. Please be advised that True Gift Entertainment, Starkutt Records, Headline Entertainment and Prism Marketing Consultants are the ONLY OFFICIAL AGENTS AUTHORIZED to conduct business on my behalf. Fore-Love: Touch & Pressure
Have your partner lie flat on his/her back with arms and legs extended to the side. Get some scented massage oil and moisten your hands and fingertips. Now it’s time for some body-mapping. Through mapping your partner ’ s erogenous zones you will be able to give him/her much more pleasure.
Begin by tracing around the eyes, nose and mouth then proceed down the neck, arms and entire torso. Gently caress your partner from the face down, with a featherlight touch and have your partner signal to you where he/she enjoys being touched by moaning louder or softer. Try not to talk; pay attention to those extra sensitive areas. Have your partner turn over and lie on their stomach while you repeat the exercise. In many cases both men and women enjoy gentle pressure to the ear lobes, clavicle, neck, nipples, the centre line below the navel to the genitals, and the hands and feet. The nape of the neck, the shoulders, the spinal cord, as well as the tailbone, the mound of the buttocks and the back of the knees are all sensitive to gentle pressure. The feet have the highest concentration of nerve endings and bones which connect to every area in the body. Fore-love therefore does not always have to be “ necking and petting”
Sex Tip
The skin is the largest organ of the body and therefore provides the greatest surface area for sensual stimulation. There are some areas of the body that respond more easily to touch and pressure, heat and cold or vibration in both men and women. This is because the skin in that area of the body is particularly thin or the nerve endings are numerous. Some other ways of heightening your partner’s response therefore is by applying heat, cold, vibration and mouth play.
