The Monarch Migration Written by: Holley Haver and Haley Joosten Illustrated by: Alexander Odgers

The weather was starting to get cold and the leaves were beginning to change color.

All of the monarch butterflies sensed that is was time to head south.

It was Jimmy the monarch’s first time flying south, and he was excited and scared at the same time.

Jimmy joined the big group gathered in the colorful leaves.

And soon they took off.

The air was fresh and cool, and Jimmy felt free.

He looked below and saw the beauty of the world spread before him.

Suddenly the wind began to blow, and Jimmy found it hard to continue forward.

But Jimmy was strong and he wasn’t going to give up.

Pretty soon the wind died down, and Jimmy could feel the warmth in the air.

They were approaching their destination.

The tired butterflies could finally take a rest.

Jimmy was glad that the journey was over, and he was excited to spend the winter somewhere warm.
