Elise N. Hofheimer Art Library - A Short History The cover of this zine features a portrait of Elise N. Hofheimer, whom the Art Library was named after and formally dedicated in the spring of 1982. Mrs. Hofheimer was a generous donor and longtime supporter of the arts at ODU and the Art Department since the 1960s. Originally founded in 1963, the Art Library began as a small room In the Fine Arts Building with a donation from Mrs. Hofheimer who believe that art students need a study area in the art department. Over the years, the Hofheimer family continuously supported the Art Library in its evolution and in establishing the Hofheimer endowment, which funds the growing collection of art materials.
