CCSD families,
Last night (Thursday, September 5), we began to receive multiple tips from principals, staff, parents, students, and community members regarding a threat of violence against our middle schools We immediately shared the information with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, which acted swiftly to pull in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Those tips provided enough information that the individual who posted the threats and photos was tracked down within hours That individual admitted to making the posts and was taken into custody
As we have shared before, we take EVERY tip seriously and will continue to do so Today, principals at each of our high schools and middle schools will meet with students by grade level to talk about the events that have unfolded this week and what their school and our district are doing to make sure they are safe Counselors will also be present During that meeting, we will also ask our students to keep their eyes and ears open and share with their parents, teachers, counselors, or the CCSD Tip Line any information they encounter concerning threats to our school community as many did last night
We know this has been a tough week. We will get through this by working together and supporting one another We will be Better Together

La pasada noche (jueves, 5 de septiembre), comenzamos a recibir múltiples avisos de directores, personal, padres, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad sobre una posible amenaza de violencia dirigida a nuestras escuelas intermedias. De inmediato, compartimos la información con el Departamento de Policía del Condado de Athens-Clarke, que actuó con rapidez, involucrando a la Oficina de Investigación de Georgia. Gracias a las pistas proporcionadas, se localizó a la persona responsable de las amenazas y publicaciones en pocas horas Esa persona confesó haber realizado las publicaciones y fue arrestada
Como hemos mencionado antes, nos tomamos en serio TODOS los avisos y continuaremos haciéndolo Hoy, los directores de cada una de nuestras escuelas superiores e intermedias hablarán con los estudiantes de cada grado sobre los acontecimientos que han tenido lugar esta semana y las medidas que sus escuelas y el distrito están implementando para mantener su seguridad Los consejeros también estarán presentes Durante estas reuniones, también pediremos a nuestros estudiantes a mantener los ojos y los oídos abiertos y comunicar cualquier información relacionada con amenazas a nuestra comunidad escolar a sus padres, maestros, consejeros o la Línea de Denuncia del CCSD, tal como muchos lo hicieron anoche.
Sabemos que esta ha sido una semana difícil, pero juntos lo superaremos, trabajando juntos y apoyándonos unos a otros. Juntos Somos Mejores.
