AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGY

The World’s fastest 3D cameras, with a set of unique functions Automation Technology offers a series of 3D components and all-in-one systems for rapid threedimensional measurement in accordance with the laser-triangulation process. Multilope The aim of the MultipleSlope function is to avoid the saturation of pixels during sensor chip exposure. To do this, the threshold values for the recorded light volume and the voltage produced are set. If within a predefined time, the threshold is exceeded, the

voltage of the pixel is reset to the threshold value. Next, the light exposure is continued until the exposure is complete. This mode is known as DualSlope. There is also an option of resetting the pixel voltage after the first reset, TripleSlope. The reset level and reset times in DualSlope and TripleSlope mode can be configured independently of one another.

amount of lines, enabling a considerable increase in scanning speed. This new feature is particularly interesting for applications involving continuous profile measurements with variable distances to the surface. This way, this new feature enables our customers to take the most advantage of the full potential of their 3D cameras and get precise 3D images at an even higher speed.

AOI-tracking Thanks to a new algorithm for the automatic adaptation and tracking of AOIs, the size of an AOI can be optimized to a minimum

Some of the unique features are: • 3D-information, intensity and width from each profile simultaneously without loss of speed • Multiple AOIs

• High Dynamic Range (HDR-3D) with MultiSlope • Automatic AOI-tracking

CARL ZEISS

New high-speed lenses from Carl Zeiss The new high speed Distagon T* 1,4/35 is an example of one lens that is in particularly high demand in the industrial sector. It creates crisp, sharp images even in difficult lighting conditions. Thanks to its large focus ring and precise worm-gear, the lens enables accurate, sharp pictures to be taken even at maximum aperture opening. The optical construction also guarantees a high image quality across the entire image range. Another lens suitable for industry and research is the new high speed Distagon T* 2/25, a moderate wide-angle lens. It shows its strengths especially with fast-moving objects or in tough lighting situations, as is often the case in the industrial sector. The Distagon T* 2/25 also stands out for its excellent color correction.

The ZF lenses from Carl Zeiss are compatible with all F-mount cameras. The F-mount is a common standard for high-resolution industrial cameras with large sensors. As a result of its large image circle, our lenses are ideal for the growing importance of high-resolution image sensors and larger sensor formats in industry and research. If you prefer, these high sophisticated optical designs are also available with different mounts like M42 Screw Mount (S-Mount). These compact and robust lenses are used widely for industrial machine vision thanks to their reliability and excellent image performance. Aerospace, land measurement and traffic management systems are three additional sectors in which Carl Zeiss lenses are often used.

BASLER

Basler is pushing USB3 vision standard Camera specialist Basler has been spearheading the development of a new standard for industrial cameras, software and accessories, USB3 Vision, since September 2011. Introduction of the standard is planned for 2012. Upon completion of the USB3 Vision standard Basler will offer standard compliant USB 3.0 cameras. The aim of the USB3 Vision committee’s work is to make the USB 3.0 interface industry-suited similar to Gigabit Ethernet, Camera Link or IEEE 1394. To become a successful interface in the industrial area, it has to be implemented physically and

logically in a standard so that all components like cameras, accessories, and software work seamlessly together. Henning Tiarks, Head of Product Management at Basler explains: “Basler as a leading supplier for industrial cameras has pushed forward all standardizations so far. Therefore, for us it was self-evident to get involved in the USB3 Vision standard as well. Our customers can rely 100% on Basler that our USB 3.0 cameras coming forth next year will be compliant with this standard and will work perfectly with other products following the standard.”

New Ace cameras from Basler The two Sony ICX 414 and ICX 415 sensors are standard components in analog cameras. With these new ace models the transition from analog to digital camera technology is now easier than ever. The new acA645-100gm/gc and acA78075gm/gc monochrome and color cameras are fitted with the popular Sony CCD ICX 414 and ICX 415 sensors. The acA645100 models have a fast frame rate of 100 frames per second at VGA resolution. The acA780-75 models deliver 75 fps at CCIR resolution. All cameras offer excellent image quality, a host of useful functions and are available with C-mount or CS-mount.

Basler is convinced that USB 3.0 will gradually establish next to Gigabit Ethernet as an important interface technology for applications in the fields of industry, medicine and traffic. This interface combines some interesting features: It transmits bandwidths up to 300 megabytes/second, supports plug and play and is real-time capable. With these benefits USB 3.0 has a good chance to take hold next to GigE as a user-friendly interface for mainstream applications while GigE continues to offer technical advantages with regard to cable length (100 m) and multi-camera capability as well as a wide acceptance in the market.

Accessories from Z-Laser for faster and more accurate installations Z-Laser also manufactures, besides a complete range of lasers, aluminum and plastic mountings for all ZM-lasers with Ă˜ 20mm, M12 and M18 thread. The H6 and H8-versions are coaxially pivotable, angle

adjustable and parallel shiftable which simpliďŹ es when high accuracy settings are required. See our webpage for details and dimensions.

New and improved Powell optics from Z-Laser Following the successful integration of the new Powell lens technology into its ZM18 laser family, Z-LASER has adapted the improved homogeneous light distribution (HLD) technology to their ZM12 family of lasers, which were previously only available with Gaussian light distribution. Encased in a 45 mm housing, the ZM12 laser projects a line with an +/- 5% homogeneity of light distribution. With guaranteed light distribution across the projected line, machine vision algorithms will produce

results with greater accuracy than with Gaussian light distribution. This kind of homogeneity can produce excellent results, especially when using slightly longer camera exposures for app lications that previously might have required a speckle-reduced laser. Z-Laser has also taken the opportunity to increase the maximum power output capacity to 80mW in this small format.
