marcelo yarussi

Creator of avant-garde label Bastardo BA, Marcelo Yarussi took this season’s BAFWeek by storm, stealing the highly-anticipated Semillero UBA competition with daring designs and signature pieces. Previously known for his line of functional yet trendy backpacks, Yarussi has branched into the realm of womenswear, integrating symbolic representations of the Virgin Mary from a critical yet optimistic viewpoint, reflecting the small religious town he grew up in.

As his foray into clothing continues, Yarussi plans to develop a collection emphasising drama and impact while maintaining wearability. With emphasis on perfection and precision, the scrupulous, thorough care of his designs is sure to lead the young designer to success among BA’s elite emerging labels.

christina tiran and Victoria rowley Two recent graduates from the London College of Fashion, Christina and Victoria showcased their joint collection at this years London College of Fashion Press Runway Show in July 2013. MARIA ZHMINKO A Fashion Design graduate from the London College of Fashion, Maria likes to experiment with the structure of things. Dissecting and re-assembling different elements of objects often inspire her work, and this is evident in the sharp shapes and silhouettes of her designs. A graphic, illustrative edge is apparent across much of Maria’s work and her latest collection explores the idea of merging machine and human with the integration of virtuality into reality. The use of all-black further emphasises the dark intensity of the theme of a dystopian future, reylaying the aesthetic essential to scince fiction.

rebecca morter and GEMMA VANSON

A London based Fashion Designer born in Auckland, New Zealand, Rebecca graduated in BA Fashion Design and Development from the London College of Fashion this July 2013. Drawing on New Zealand’s heritage, the young designer contrasts unusual natural resources with a contemporary design approach. www.rebeccamorter.com Rebecca’s work celebrates the female www.showtime.arts.ac.uk/gemmavanson form, and she is continuously playing with the idea of revealing, but at the same time concealing the body. Gemma, also a London College of Fashion graduate, specialises in product development and fabric exploration through attention to detail. Inspired by Urban Decay and Brutalist Architecture, the young designer values quality, and her latest collection focusing on new younger male consumers aims to evolve and disguise oneself for everyday eventualities.

kill it kid This years show will be headlined by Kill It Kid, who need no introduction! Bringing “an emphatic slice of folk blues Zeppelin would have been proud of”, the band were XFM New Music Award finalists, alongside The XX and Florence + the Machine. Recorded with producer Leo Abrahams it has been described as ‘raw, inelegant and untainted’. Expect a huge performance at the show.
