EVENTS GUIDE

Hurricane Valley is home to dozens of events each year, many of which are highlighted elsewhere in this Visitors’ Guide. The purpose of this section is to highlight a few events that have not yet been highlighted, and to provide a rough monthby-month calendar of annual events, so that visitors and locals can plan ahead and take advantage of the wonderful events and activities available in this area.

BAM DOG SPECTACULAR

This is an annual event held in September at the Hurricane Community Center, dedicated to bringing people and their dogs together. Come out and enjoy the annual Walk for the Animals, Fungility demonstrations, multiple competitions, instruction on care for canines, and lots of kid-friendly activities. Get to know other dog-owners in the area and let your dogs make new friends too. There is something for everyone at this dog-centric festival.

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL

Bring the entire family to a weekend full of holiday activities sure to fill you with the magic of the holiday season. Hurricane Valley’s annual Christmas Tree Festival is held in early December at the Hurricane Community Center, at 63 South 100 West. The festival includes up to 50 decorated trees available for sale and auction, plus craft vendors, a holiday quilt display, a gigantic bake sale and continuous entertainment throughout the festival. Santa will also be there so don’t miss out. Proceeds are donated to benefit the “Shop with a Cop” program. HUNTSMAN WORLD SENIOR GAMES

The Huntsman World Senior Games is the largest annual multi-sport event in the world for athletes age 50 and better. Dubbed the “premier senior athletic event in the world,” the event, which began in 1987, takes place each October and welcomes more than 11,000 athletes from all around the world. Sports venues are throughout St. George / Hurricane and surrounding areas. With 30+ different sports to choose from, including archery, golf, cycling, badminton, pickleball, bowling, shooting, softball and swimming, there is something for everyone. PARADE OF HOMES

The St. George Area Parade of Homes is an annual ~10-day event held each February. As the largest parade in the State, it draws people from across Utah and many others from out of state. Each year, participants are free to self-tour 20+ luxury custom homes across Washington County, each displaying the unique and innovative touch of the designer. If you are looking for ideas to improve the quality of life in your own home, or a top-of-the-line new custom home to purchase in Southern Utah, this is a great event to attend. HURRICANE MOUNTAIN BIKE FESTIVAL

Riding bikes and having fun is what this festival is all about. In addition to cycling activities, there are live bands, a beer garden, Western Style Contests (practice your roping and barrel riding), Dutch oven dinner, lots of rad prizes and a chance to ride the industry’s best demo bikes. HURRICANE VALLEY CHAMBER ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

Come test your skills against other area players at the HV Chamber charity golf tournament. Held at the beautiful Sky Mountain Golf Course in August or September, this event is a fun-filled day of food, prizes, golf, and great company, all at a reasonable price. The winning team is awarded the “Spilsbury Cup.” This is an event you don’t want to miss.

RED ROCK BBQ FESTIVAL

Red Rock BBQ Festival is Southern Utah’s finest backyard BBQ competition, held each June. For more info go to: www. redrockbbqfest.com

RATTLIN’D PLAYHOUSE

Each Winter, the Rattlin D Playhouse performs multiple family friendly musical spoofs at the Diamond Ranch Academy. This is a “dinner theater” venue where you will enjoy delicious large portions for dinner and an evening of pure entertainment and laughter. For more information, go to rattlindplayhouse.com.

RED BULL RAMPAGE

This Fall event is the most anticipated mountain biking event of its kind. During this event, held in Virgin, Utah (between Hurricane Valley and Zion National Park), elite riders put everything on the line as they ride down a high-risk mountain trail. ROTARY EASTER CAR SHOW

The Rotary Easter Car Show is an annual event held each Spring in Hurricane, Utah, put on by the Rotary Club of Hurricane Valley. For over 30 years, friends, families and car enthusiasts have gathered at the event to exhibit and appreciate amazing vehicles and to share ideas and styles for customizing and restoring their own vehicles. For more information, go to http://eastercarshow.com/ Enjoy a musical theater show each Spring and Fall in Hurricane’s beautiful Fine Arts Center, with affordable admission and high-quality entertainment. Shows for 2022 are The SpongeBob Musical from April 1st-30th and Little Mermaid (October-November).

WESTERN LEGACY FARM

Agritainment at its finest. Sleepy Hollow (Fall farm experience for the family) is held every October, and farm camps are held in the summer. For more information go to www. westernlegacyfarmandranch.com

25 HOURS IN FROG HOLLOW

This Fall event is the longest one-day off road cycling race in the world, as it takes advantage of the extra hour received due to the end of Daylight Savings. In this unique event, characterized by riders’ costumes and unique team names, mountain bikers complete a 13-mile loop as many times as possible in 25 hours. Riders report that this event truly feeds their soul, both with the beauty of single track riding and the festive atmosphere. For more information, go to 25hoursinfroghollow.com
