Belmont is proud of its 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio because small class sizes mean you’ll benefit from professors and advisors who know you by name and take an active interest in your success. We’re also known for innovative academic programs that link classroom education with real-life experience including majors like public health, motion pictures, worship leadership and social entrepreneurship. This type of hands-on learning is one of the many reasons U.S. News & World Report has continually recognized Belmont for its environment of innovation.

academics

Academics are important, but we believe college is about more than earning a degree and finding a career. A Belmont education doesn’t just prepare you for the job market; it prepares you to engage with and transform the world.

Belmont & Beyond BE A BRUI N !

Belmont’s beautiful 75-acre campus is always growing and expanding to better meet students’ needs. Our latest additions include the new Johnson Center, which houses the Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business and our media studies program, as well as a stunning new dining hall. In fact, all of Belmont’s facilities excel in both form and function, marrying beautiful atmospheres with state-of-the-art technology to serve a 21st century student. Outside the classroom, there’s never a reason to be bored with more than 180 clubs and organizations to fit any interest. Plus, Bruins love to cheer on our athletic teams or suit up themselves for seasonal intramural sports options. With more than half of Belmont undergrads living on campus, there’s always something going on from socials, movie nights and concerts to a game of Frisbee on the Quad. The 5,500-seat Curb Event Center also regularly hosts concerts, guest lectures and special events on campus. There’s no shortage of fun to be found off campus either. Belmont calls one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities home. Nashville continues to get noticed by national media for its growing restaurant, arts and music scene, but it hasn’t lost its Southern charm. Sports fans love our professional football and hockey teams, and live music is a way of life here, with more than 150 venues in town. Students also love to take advantage of Nashville’s natural beauty with nearby lakes, rivers, hiking trails and parks. The Belmont campus is just blocks from historic Music Row as well as the trendy coffeehouses, shops and restaurants of Hillsboro Village and the 12 South District. Drive a few miles and you’re in the heart of downtown, an interesting mix of honkytonks and history, with landmarks like the Ryman Auditorium, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and the Frist Center for the Visual Arts just waiting for you to explore. Our status as the state capital means Nashville is a business hub, too, providing endless opportunities for internships in a variety of fields. With so much to offer, Nashville attracts people from all over the world, which is why it’s so easy for newcomers to feel at home here in Music City. Why not join us?

You can’t make an informed decision about a college without first weighing the cost. Kiplinger’s continues to rank us as a “Best Value.” For the latest financial information, view Belmont’s cost estimator at belmont.edu/costestimator. To be eligible to receive any form of need-based aid, you should complete and return the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by December 1 for fall or summer admission and November 1 for spring admission. Be sure to indicate Belmont’s Title IV code on your application—003479—to ensure that our Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) receives your application results. SFS also has information on hundreds of regional community awards, corporate and civic grants, religious scholarships and merit awards as well as direct Nashville links to a variety of searchable databases with detailed information on regional, national and international scholarships. For more information on financial aid and scholarships, visit belmont.edu/sfs.

You’ve worked hard for each credit earned, and you want to make sure that will be acknowledged. While there is no minimum number of courses required in order to transfer to Belmont, previous coursework is generally accepted for transfer as long as they are college level (not remedial or developmental), academic (not vocational/technical) and not freshman orientation or freshman seminar courses. Upon admission, Belmont provides each student with an unofficial Preliminary Transcript Review (PTR) indicating our estimate of how your credits will apply to the Belmont core requirements. During orientation, each transfer student will then work with his or her academic advisor to find out exactly if and how their transfer credits will apply to their planned course of study.

“It is hard to be far from your family, but the people here at Belmont—the faculty and staff have become family to me. I am from Saudi Arabia, which is far away from here, about 14 hours by flight. I love how the diverse environment of Belmont gives a warm welcome for everybody. Belmont has small classes, and that gives me a chance as an international student for better communication and interaction with my professors and classmates.”
