PHI MU, BELMONT AMBASSADORS, BRUIN RECRUITERS, BUSINESS STUDENT ADVISORY BOARDWhen you were in high school, what were you looking for in a college?
When I was in high school, I was looking for a mediumsized Christian liberal arts school that was highly regarded across all different academic areas. Once I found schools that checked these boxes, I looked for schools that had lots of different opportunities for students to get involved both on campus and in the local community.
How would you describe your Belmont experience so far?
I would describe my experience so far as incredibly impactful. Between the incredible professors and staff, caring community of students and endless opportunities that Belmont has provided me with, I have seen myself grow infinitely in terms of the confidence I have.
What do you think makes Belmont unique or different from other schools?
Belmont is unique because it offers big school opportunities with a small school feel. The small school feel comes from the small class sizes and the emphasis that the entire University puts on caring for students, but the big-school opportunities come from living in Nashville and our student organizations.
How would you describe Belmont’s mission?
I would describe Belmont’s mission as one that is truly focused on helping students discover their God-given gifts, and then helping them develop those so that they can help make a positive impact in the world.

When you were in high school, what were you looking for in a college?
I was looking for a place that was big enough for me to make connections and to always find somebody new, but small enough to where the people I did know could be seen at least a couple times per week. I also wanted a place that was going to challenge me in the best way possible to be a more well-rounded human being.
What first attracted you to Belmont?
The beautiful campus. The amazing community. The passion for achieving individual goals. There was never any competition, it was always collaboration in my eyes.
What’s your favorite class or faculty member?
Most definitely elementary statistics by Dr. Ryan Fox. When I was in high school, I always dreaded the idea of taking statistics, but Dr. Fox makes it clear that he is here for us, the students, to learn and grow and to make some mistakes along the way. Lots of cool jokes and impressions included.
What’s your best advice for a prospective student considering Belmont?
Don't choose Belmont just because it's pretty (which it is). Don't choose Belmont just because it feels like a small neighborhood in a big city (which it is). Choose Belmont because you want extraordinary—extraordinary staff, an extraordinary group of friends and future collaborators and, most importantly, extraordinary potential for yourself.
Belmont’s identity as a Christ-centered community is central to who we are. In the simplest terms, our faculty and staff seek to follow the example of Jesus, leading with kindness and service to all. Since we aren't tied to any single denomination, our employees represent a wide range of Christian traditions, practices and doctrines.
It also means we welcome all students from a place of hospitality and seek to understand and respect one another’s differences. Whether you are a person of the Christian faith, come from another religious background, are still searching or ascribe to no religion at all, Belmont is an inclusive and safe campus where you can ask questions, explore your beliefs and, most importantly, connect and belong.
For students who want to strengthen their faith during their college years, the possibilities are endless at Belmont. Worship services, retreats, leadership opportunities, faith development organizations, discipleship and service programs, along with local and international mission projects, are just a few of the outlets Belmont offers.
