LIBERAL STUDIES DEGREE PROGR AM DETAILS Earn your Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Liberal Studies with a completely customizable area of study. This is a perfect opportunity to selfdesign a program of coursework that is specific to your background or individual goals. As a liberal studies major, you’ll work with an academic advisor to create a degree plan that’s in line with your prior learning and educational interests, especially if they span more than one area. You’ll self-design more than half of your plan of study, taking advantage of the hundreds of class options available to Belmont students. You can earn a minor in a specific area or use the self-design portion of the degree to achieve pre-requisites for entry into a graduate program. If you have attended one or more colleges, the liberal studies degree is also a great choice because the wide room for elective hours makes good use of many transfer credits. LIBER AL STUDIES CURRICULUM The B.S or B.A. in Liberal Studies program consists of a minimum of 128 credit hours, including BELL Core general education requirements. The major portion of the degree is self-designed by you around coursework that is specific to your background or individual goals. This can include previous credits from transfer work, pre-requisites you want to take for a graduate program, a minor in a specific area or a wide range of courses from areas that interest you personally or professionally.
TR ANSFER CREDIT You’ll need a total of 128 credit hours minimum to graduate from any of Belmont’s
undergraduate adult degree programs—and our flexible transfer credit policy puts you well on your way. A minimum of 32 hours must be completed at Belmont. At least 64 hours of transfer work must come from a four-year institution.
