Due to the support of the Betty Wiseman Mission Fund, hundreds of student-athletes, coaches, and staff have been able to serve the world with God’s love across 30 Belmont Athletic Mission Trips. The Betty Wiseman Mission Fund exists solely to help our student-athletes serve on these mission trips each year. We recently celebrated the 25th year of Betty’s mission trips in 2020. These amazing trips are still making an eternal impact on our student athlete’s faith journeys, just as they did in 1995 when Betty Wiseman first took a group of Belmont basketball players to Poland. We are looking forward to providing many more of these mission trip experiences beginning in May 2022, as several studentathletes will be serving in Unalakleet, Alaska.

For the first time since December of 2019, Belmont University Athletics is serving on a mission trip as a total of 11 student-athletes and Coordinator of Academic Services & Sport Ministry Dr. Ryan Neises departed for Alaska Saturday, May 7th. The 12-member team led by Dr. Neises served in Alaska, for one week in Unalakleet, a small village of fewer than 1,000 residents, located on the western coast of Alaska on the Bering Sea, next to the large Unalakleet River.

Current and former volleyball student-athletes Kailee Bass, Kristen Clemons, Grace Evans, Laura Shoopman and Lauren Walsh were joined by men’s basketball’s Even Brauns, Frank Jakubicek and Michael Shanks, men’s soccer’s Alex Johnson and Dylan Steely, and men’s golf’s Coleman Jones.

The Bruins will be worked with Unalakleet Covenant Church through Praying Pelican Missions and conducted various service projects throughout the village during the day. In the evenings, Belmont’s mission team hosted a basketball camp for the local children. With the children of the village having a love for basketball and volleyball, Belmont’s student-athletes and Dr. Neises were able to connect with the locals and building relationships through sports.

PLATINUM BRUIN CLUB TRIP

Last year, Belmont Athletics celebrated the return of the “Platinum Bruins” trip with a spectacular visit to Baton Rouge, as the Belmont faithful traveled to watch the Bruins take on the LSU Tigers. President Greg Jones and his wife Susan even made the trip down to the Bayou!

We are excited to continue this new tradition as we once again offer the opportunity for donors at the $10,000 annual level and above to travel with our men’s basketball program to an upcoming away game this season.

Trips include travel with the team, lodging at the team hotel, an option to attend practice/shoot around sessions and a private dinner with Belmont’s men’s basketball team, coaches, and athletic administration.

Previous destinations and opponents have included TCU in Fort Worth, TX, UCLA in Los Angeles, CA, Boston College in Boston, MA and LSU in Baton Rouge, LA.

If it is a financial consideration for you, we hope that you will consider becoming a Platinum Bruin to join us for an incredible trip interacting with some of Belmont’s finest student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
