DALE DANIEL LEYS: DRAWINGS, PRESENT/PAST

Dale Leys is a Professor of Art at Murray State University. For the past 40 years, he has been living and teaching drawing in the river country of western Kentucky and Tennessee, particularly gravitating toward the Land Between the Lakes shoreline. CHRISTINE ROGERS: NEITHER HERE NOR THERE

This photography exhibition explores the imagined landscapes of Northern India specifically looking at the rise of the Indian middle class, the explosion of the domestic tourist industry and the lore and lure of Bollywood filmmaking’s connection to the Swiss landscape. By Neil Simon Four couples arrive at the New York deputy mayor’s 10th anniversary celebration only to find the mayor wounded and the wife missing. As confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for faculty, staff, senior citizens, alumni and non-Belmont students, and free for Belmont students. OUR TOWN*

By Thornton Wilder This Pulitzer Prize-winning drama tells the story of Grover's Corners, a fictional small town, between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens. All graduating BFA Theatre majors are required to present a Senior Capstone project designed to help the student transition from Belmont to professional life. This festival will spotlight these senior projects with three productions including two in November and a third in February.

This Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by Tennessee Williams tells the story of an aging Southern belle’s difficult relationship with her aggressive brother-in-law. Belmont Little Theatre November 4–5 & 10–11, 7:30 p.m. November 5–6 & 12–13, 2 p.m.

Written by acclaimed young playwright Qui Nguyen, this comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games features homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and 90s pop culture.

FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE OF VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS FOR 2017–2018 Prospective students must apply to the University and audition or submit a portfolio for admission to the CVPA. For more information on the application and audition or portfolio review process, please visit belmont.edu/cvpa.

DEPARTMENT OF ART

All prospective students except for those majoring in Art History must submit a portfolio of 20 images, either on a CD mailed to the department or uploaded to a URL site. Choose your best and most recent works and include a diverse range of media. Portfolio submissions are accepted throughout the school year, but the priority deadline to be considered for the Leu Art Scholarship is December 1, 2016. See belmont.edu/art for more information.
