YANKEE TAVERN* by Steven Dietz Just when you thought you'd heard every crazy 9/11 conspiracy theory, a stranger walks into the Yankee Tavern. There, inside the walls of this crumbling New York tavern, a young couple finds themselves caught up in what might be the biggest conspiracy of all. This acclaimed dramatic thriller is a fierce, funny and ultimately mind-bending work of theatrical power that grips you until the final word. What you don't know can hurt you. Black Box Theater September 21–22 and 27–29 at 7:30 p.m. September 22–23 and 29 at 2 p.m. * Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for Faculty, Staff, Senior Citizens, Alumni and non-Belmont students, and free for Belmont Students.
AS YOU LIKE IT* by William Shakespeare A COLLABORATION WITH VERGE THEATRE Forced into exile in the Forest of Arden, lovers Rosalind and Orlando become entangled in a beguiling game of love and mistaken identity. The traditional roles of romance, gender roles, nature and politics are confused in a play that reflects on how bewildering yet utterly pleasurable life can be. Troutt Theater September 28–29 and October 4–6 at 7:30 p.m. September 29–30 and October 6 at 2 p.m. * Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for Faculty, Staff, Senior Citizens, Alumni and non-Belmont students, and free for Belmont Students.
THE WOLVES* by Sarah DeLappe A COLLABORATION WITH ACTORS BRIDGE ENSEMBLE A fly-on-the-wall look at a girls’ high school soccer team as they go through their warm-ups. From the safety of their suburban stretch circle, the team collectively and individually are navigating big questions and waging battles with all the vim and vigor of a pack of adolescent warriors. Troutt Theater November 9 & 11 and November 15–17 at 7:30 p.m. November 10–11 and November 17 at 2 p.m. * General Admission tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door and $15 for Belmont Faculty, Staff and Alumni. Belmont Students are free for all matinees and on November 15.
O’More School of Design The addition of the O’More School of Design to the College of Visual and Performing Arts in fall 2018 brings new programs in fashion and interior design and fashion merchandising*, to campus. This acquisition provides opportunities for new interdisciplinary collaborations across campus. O’More School of Design’s 22,000-square-foot studios, located on the third and fourth floors of the Hitch Building, were designed by faculty members and a licensed interior designer. The concept for the space is “Mad Scientist meets Mid-Century Modern,” resulting in an industrial look with open ceilings, glass walls to utilize all available light and sealed, concrete floors. The majority of the space is studios, drafting for interior design and a sewing studio for fashion design. Computer labs will offer the latest design programs. We are proud to open these new creative learning spaces to support a student-centered environment that cultivates the power of design to transform. The O’More tradition and legacy continues on the Belmont campus as the O’More School of Design. For more information, please visit www.belmont.edu/design. *Belmont’s O’More School of Design has received preliminary approval from the University’s regional accreditor (SACSCOC), and full approval is anticipated by the end of the year.
