In the television show FlashForward, based on Robert J. Sawyer’s novel Flashforward, the entire world blackout out for just over two minutes on October 6, 2009. On October 6, 2021, I reached out to Rob to see if he had anything about the show that we could run in this issue. Rather than a look at the show’s cancellation, Rob provided this glimpse into the creation of the show with an e-mail he sent to the writers, providing them with guidelines for the flashforwards characters experienced. The show debuted on ABC on September 24, 2009 and aired its 22 nd and final episode, a cliffhanger, on May 27, 2010. It starred Joseph Fiennes, Jack Davenport, Sonya Walger, Christine Woods, Cortney B. Vance, John Cho, Dominic Monaghan, and, frankly, a whole bunch of other people. The series was released on DVD, but does not appear to be available for streaming.
