Monday 18th June BUY CHERYL COLE ALBUM!
Why is this in my diary? Well diary dear est, it was an absolute honour to be asked to do bac king vocals for the total babe that is Cheryl Cole. And guess what? The track is called ‘ One Thousand’ and is featured on the deluxe version of her album Ligh ts… Get why I bought it now. Madness! Saturday 23rd June NANDOS GIGNICS, GLASGOW
Nandos Gignics was TOO much fun; Peri Peri chicken, Glasgow Green and the awesome crowd! What more could a girl want? You can’t get fitter than a Chicken in pitta mate! LOVE Nandos! MistaJam smashed it on the decks too. Can’t sleep without giving him a mention for dropping ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes’. Wednesday 30th June MEET JAMAL EDWARDS, SB.TV
I was very nervous about meeting Jamal, lil cutie, and doing my A64 with SB.TV as so many big names have done one. Getting to do it alongside my homeboy Mic Righteous was quite cool. Here’s wondering if Jamal will actually upload it lol… Saturday 15th July SUPPORTING THE WANTED & MCFLY, TYNEMOUTH CASTLE, SOUTH SHIELDS
The Wanted and Mcfly are possibly every girl’s dream! Cannot believe I got to support them both at the same time! Siva from The Wanted is a little prankster ha-ha. Just like me then aight ;) The boys are all SO good looking as well, heavennn. PG 7
Sunday 29th July JOINING THE O LLY MURS TOUR, MARGAT E
Olly Murs? Total babe. com I strutted all over his exclusive runway (sorry) but he was so co ol with it. Such a humbl e dude! Saturday 11th August RWD & ADIDAS PARTY
I still have to pinch myself every time I hear someone say : “How was your performance at the Olympics?” It’s all a bit surreal to be honest. It was one of the greatest experienc es EVER, to perform on such an incredible platform, right before Luke Campbell won the boxing finals for team GB! It’s one of those performances that I’m never gonna shut up about hah a! Such a wicked night! Got to meet Amir Khan too which wa s pretty damn awesome!
Ruby and I got our dolly fac es on and hit up the RWD Magazine party down Brick Lane. We spent mo st of the night dancing, lots of funky, R&B and hip-hop getting spun, and got to meet Bashy, Maxsta (so cute) and some other cool cat s. Definitely need to sleep now. PG 8
Saturday 25th August JESSIE J GIG, ALNWICK, NORTHUMBERLAND
Supporting Jessie J was little short of incredible. I’ve never performed to crowds so big! Watching Jessie do her thing was so inspiring as well. She’s such a personality on stage and really knows how to engage her audience, not to mention the fact that the woman’s got a RIDICULOUSLY amazing voice!
Sunday 2nd September LOVE AND SUPPORT FROM JLS, LINCOLN.
The JLS Summer Tour was SO inspiring. To watch how they interact with the audience and the way they feed off them. Just wow. Everything from the routine (big up Beth Honan!), to the costumes, of course the music, was amazing! On the last day of the tour in Lincoln the guys from Blue Peter came to see what I was up to and I got to do some bits to camera with the JLS boys… all in all AMAZEBALLS. Love my cadets so much.

e’s the boy with The Voice. Now back at his original label home, Island Records, and with a new album, A Place I Go, about to be revealed, what better time to catch-up with the insanely talented Tyler James? Any excuse will do… I love ‘Single Tear’, why did you choose that as the first single? When I normally write a song I tend to make it quite vague so anyone can relate to it, but this particular song, it’s one of my favourites and one i’m most proud of and also in terms of where it’s at lyrically… The lyrics just came out. There wasn’t much thought behind it. I was like ‘Actually, this is how I feel about the last year and half of my life’. It’s a culmination of that. It’s for anyone who’s ever been hurt or who’s ever lost someone. You know when you break up with someone, it’s so painful that you basically block it out, you don’t engage in it. Then all of a sudden it hits you all at once. That’s what I realised when I wrote it. ‘I haven’t cried a single tear all year/ But now they come faster, it feels like disaster.’
PG 22
GOING PLACES
How do you feel about The Voice experience now? Nina Woolfood, who’s a friend I met in Sweden when I was 18, we’ve written a lot of stuff together and it’s wicked cos she knows me really well. We’ve written a song called Brave which is all about me going for The Voice. She actually came up with the concept, and she was saying how when I went for it, considering how messed up I was, it was a brave thing to do. It’s a really epic, positive track.
The show really showcased your falsetto. Did that drive the direction the album took? It’s always been my strongest point… When I did my other stuff, back in the day, I did use it pretty much on every track, but it wasn’t everywhere. I had never really thought about singing the lead like that. But, for me, it’s the most comfortable place that I sing… If people ask me now what my album is, i can say it’s a soul album, it’s a pop album. i love pop music, I love great songs, I admire songwriters and the craft of writing a song and that’s why I feel so lucky to have gotten to work with Fraser T Smith.
“I’M NOT A FASHION EXPERIMENT” I’ve wanted to work with Fraser for years. When I first heard ‘Set Fire to the Rain’ - and I know that’s not the first thing he did but I love Adele - to me it was perfect. In terms of songwriting craft. I think about songs mathematically and that song is perfect; it’s such a classy pop record. What is the future looking like to you? I think about that all the time. I’m excited but I’m also apprehensive, as anyone would be. I talk about it all the time with my mates. I’m in one of those positions in life where, hopefully, everything is about to change. It’s a weird position to be in. Being a successful artist
who gets to go out and tour and have people listen to your music, that’s everything I’ve ever wanted. And I might be on the brink of that. That’s a weird place to be. If I think about it too much it blows my mind. It’s scary (laughs). You love your fashion too right? Republic are sponsoring my Back On Track VEVO series, following me making the album. There’s a new episode every week… I’ll tell you what I love more than anyone place in the world though; Fred Perry. They’re just perfect. They have this thing, it’s very London, very blokey and very smart. I love that. They’re really good to me, they give me lots of stuff. I get their shirts and get them tapered so that it makes me look like i’ve got a good body (which I don’t)… But it’s just clothes. I’ve had to say before I’m not a fashion experiment. I’ve messaged my stylist before saying ‘I just want a nice suit that fits and looks nice’. When I get to a certain age i’ll rock a suit everyday. I’ve always admired my grandad for that. It’s an east London thing. Even if he’s just popping round to the pub, he’s got a nice suit on. I love that.

The reality is this; if you haven’t heard of K Pop WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? It’s the biggest wave since butter on toast with billions of views and millions of downloads notched up across the globe. K Pop is at the epicentre of pop culture taking over Asia... and beyond. Despite what you may have thought, it’s not a fizzy drink but rather teen idols in Korea whose music is popular. Very popular. If you’re into pop, dance, fashion and extremely captivating visuals, then K Pop is YOU (even if you don’t understand half of the lyrics)! A*M*E’s been massively into K Pop for years. But on discovering that producers and songwriters such as Will.I.Am and Sean Garrett had been caught up in the K Pop phenomenon, travelling back and forth to South Korea, I totes knew it was time she schooled me too… SO WHAT IS K POP? Rest assured, K Pop is not a temporary craze, it’s been around for donkey years (the 90’s to be precise) but in the past year YouTube reported that K Pop videos were raking in BILLIONS of views around the world. When I say world I mean 235 countries, kinda world. YouTube have even launched their own exclusive K Pop page amongst the other 23 music genres shown separately. Many K Pop bands consist of several band members fusing quirky dancing, implosive beats with catchy riffs. The Girl bands hardly ever have three or four members, Girls Generation have nine whilst Super Junior has 12 members... yeah I know right!? Wait for it... there is also a K Pop music show called ‘K Pop Star’, a nationwide talent search to find the next K Pop group. ANYWAYS... SO WHO ARE THESE K POP ARTISTS? There’s Kara, BoA, Girl’s Generation, 2NE1, T-ara, Super Junior, the list is endless but A*M*E’s top 3 are Big Bang, 2NE1 and 2PM! WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE? Like an Asian version of the Black Eyed Peas with videos a la Lady Gaga... “K-Pop is a mixture of trendy Western music and high-energy Japanese pop (J-Pop) which preys on listeners heads with repeated hooks, sometimes in English. It embraces genre fusion with both singing and rap, and emphasizes performance and strong visuals” well... if The Rolling Stone says so. BONUS FACT: If I were a Korean artist I think I would still call myself A*M*E 21 PG 25 haha - it fits well in K pop :) A*M*E

A*M*E’S GOES NO.1 IN KOREA WITH SONG SHE WRITES, ‘BEAUTIFUL STRANGER’ BY F(X) In november last year i wrote a track in the studio with producer jason gill called ‘contagious’. When you have a publishing deal there are people whose job it is to sell your songs and this one ended up with a korean pop group named f(x) the song was about being positive, being ‘contagious’ around everyone you met, but it got translated into korean and is now called ‘beautiful stranger’ which is about falling in love with a foreigner. I got a random call from my manager saying it was no.1 And i screamed, i was genuinely in shock and a happy bunny. Korean pop plays such a massive role in my music and i was honoured to go to number one there (as a co-writer).

THE LOW-DOWN ON HOW TO MAKE IT IN THE MUSIC BIZ
Want to know how to make it in the big bad world of music or just life itself? No idea what advice to listen to and who to simply ignore? Look no further. A*M*E rounds up the words of wisdom from some of the industry’s finest….
ANGEL What’s the best advice you’ve been given? “Don’t be drawn out, stay focused and whatever you put in is what you get out.” Biggest lesson learnt? “One of the biggest lessons learnt is this; in the game, even when you think that you’re ready to exploit your music, music that you love doing best, it’s also good to go with the times and listen to current music that’s out there. That’s a good way to let people in.” What would you do differently if you could do it all again? “Listen a lot more. I would take piano lessons, I would’ve done a course in music tech or something more music-ethic based. With music, everything I do is ear based, if I could read music it might span my PG 28 horizons a bit more.”
JLS I’m about to take to the stage to warm up for you, what advice can you give me? Oritse: “When you’re out there and you see the thousands of people, it’s show time. All you can do is go out there and enjoy it. The more you enjoy it, the more the audience are going to enjoy it. It’s as simple as that” Aston: “And for us, we like to get totally mad and physical on stage, dancing and jumping about at the same time. That involves a lot of outside training as much as anything else.” Do you still get nervous? Marvin: “It’s good to get nerves, i don’t think you should ever stop getting nervous. Once you get out there and feed off the crowd, you’re halfway through your first song and you realise the nerves are gone.”
.AM WILL.I “Just trust your instinct and go with your gut.”
CHERYL “Try and remember when you were a kid and then remember you’re doing what you always dreamed oF... So try and enjoy it!”
JESSIE
J
“Just be true to who you are” (LOL, okay we admit we dropped this in ourselves).

TINCHY

“Stay focused and have a good team of people around you. Don’t listen to yes men.”
